Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

So lovely to see that KP read my post yesterday and hurriedly briefed some journalists about Prince William doing something or other official. The Telegraph even has a picture of PW on its landing page, right next to a prominent headline about… (you guessed) Harry. The BBC’s roundup of front pages this morning shows how Harry-obsessed the media have continued to be. And their coverage of PW hasn’t exactly shown him to be stepping up in a brilliant show of inspirational and incisive leadership. In fact I’m ready to bet the coverage about PW has been overwhelmingly about reconciliation with PH, ie lack thereof.

How annoying for the future king to have the press more interested in rehashing his quarrels with his little brother than in him demonstrating his grit and rising to the occasion to lead the “Firm” while the King is unwell. But maybe it’s well-deserved, as I certainly ain’t seeing Prince William rising to the occasion with verve and determination to lead the Firm while the King is unwell.

The message through the media coverage of Prince William seems to oscillate between “step-up, man!” and feeble excuses about how despite being a workaholic (LOL!) PW can’t do any work because as his wife is sick he has to take on childcare and putting the bins out himself, the poor billionaire!

Fair point, but it sounds like the diagnosis was only made late last week. Still not sure what you expect to happen in that relatively short amount of time.

@Bookmark1111 I would have thought part of Prince William's job, for which taxpayers are subsidising him and exempting him from literally billions in IHT, is to realise that his 75-yr old dad isn't guaranteed to live for another x years, and to have thought about his own vision for his reign, and short/medium/long-term plans should something happen to KC?
