Does anyone know where Prince William is?

TallerSally · 06/02/2024 17:44

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

OP, have you heard of this invention called a telephone? It's this amazing gadget where you can speak to another person who isn't even in the same room! Lots of families use it to catch up when they have good news to share or in times of crisis rather than jumping on a plane to showboat in front of the media.

Londonrach1 · 06/02/2024 19:42

His wife had surgery and he has three young children...

cyclamenqueen · 06/02/2024 19:50

He’s probably knee deep in diary and planning meetings reorganising his life and the rest of the available Royals ( a decreasing number) for the next few months.
He's doing and investiture tomorrow so you’ll all get your fix then

Case in point, the current landing page of the Telegraph.

Meeting with Prince.... Harry? One would have thought a meeting with Prince William more significant to the nation, no?

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2024/02/06/king-charles-iii-cancer-diagnosis-live-harry-return-uk/

You seem to keep missing the point that Harry meeting with his Dad is an unusual and rare occurance. That's why the media are focusing so much on it. William meeting him isn't. William is pictured regularly with Charles, can't even remember the last time Harry was.

Harry (as well as all of the Royals), is basically semi-employed at best. That's what it is to be that wealthy. He also probably had 48h or so headstart on the news of the diagnosis.

His coming over quickly doesn't mean all that much.

mrsmingleton · 06/02/2024 20:16

There's a very obvious answer OP - the press has focussed on Harry because he is a big cry baby who has slagged off his family for years and is now running back in case he loses out an opportunity to show what a nitwit he is. He doesn't do much. Obvious really.

notthatthis · 06/02/2024 20:26

RosesAndHellebores · 06/02/2024 17:47

Harry's making it all about him. William's letting it be about his father and his wife.

You need to ask yourself why you don't like Harry because your statement is beyond ridiculous.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 06/02/2024 20:28

So an OP from a poster who regularly complains that royal threads end up about Harry, complaining about an issue that has nothing to do with Harry (ie where is William?), but then bringing Harry into the question for no good reason, and then complaining that everyone is talking about Harry on the thread.

OhmygodDont · 06/02/2024 20:39

Could quite imagine Willy reading some
of the posts to Kate. Now now don’t laugh too much my love you will pop a stitch.

Look they think papa is dying because of silly Harold. Silly sausages, I’ll let him know when I pop round later. Pippa is here shortly I’ll leave the iPad here for you both to have a nosey over 😂😂

Aquarius1234 · 06/02/2024 22:42

I've never been keen on William. He has it easy in the main. Hates the press and loves privacy. Yet doesn't live like the rest of us.
Wants to have his cake and eat it.

He will undertake two public engagements, holding an investiture at Windsor Castle on behalf of the King in the morning followed by a gala dinner in central London in the evening in his role as patron of the London Air Ambulance.

After that, however, he has no further duties scheduled this week and will be with Kate and the children again next week during their half-term holiday.

A source said: 'The Prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being – and he did not put a timescale on that.

'He will make a return to duties on Wednesday but you should not expect to see him again for a bit after that.'

He's been very fortunate that he's never papped out and about. Goes completely ignognito . But also lives a life of luxury.

jeffgoldblum · 06/02/2024 23:19

Yep ! Iknow exactly where he is!!!
On my sofa having a cup of tea!!!
He thinks everyone should get a grip and move on with their lives!

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 06/02/2024 23:34

It’s funny how our brains can work at times.

I read ‘Does anyone know who Prince William is?’

😂

In the last few days, I’ve been thinking about how the media turn most stories about the RF to H&M, and it warrants a question like, ‘Do the media know who Prince William is?’ Imo. So I thought you were thinking along similar lines after misreading your thread title OP.

And I thought it a fair question because of the media’s reaction to just about any story about the RF. They pivot as quick as they can to H&M, they are robustly mostly not talking about William. It’s been 95% (in my estimation) articles about Prince Harry. They might start off as articles about other RF members but they end up articles about Harry and/or Meghan. The media knows who, overwhelmingly, the public want to talk about, and supply the material. It’s not Prince William. Kate yes, people want to talk about Kate. But mostly people want to talk about Harry and/or Meghan.

I’m predicting (in the style of Nostradamus lol), that today or in the next few days we will get a picture of Meghan crossing a car park on her way to a yoga lesson or something, and the headline will be, ‘Meghan seen out and about happy and unconcerned while Harry is in England seeing his poor dear sick father.’ Or similar. But it will do the job, get the clicks for them, be reprinted by every tabloid paper from here to eternity; and brought up repeatedly for years by posters writing things like, ‘Meghan once again stealing the spotlight’ ‘she had to make it all about her’ ‘she’s jealous and bitter’

It won’t matter that Meghan was just being a normal human doing normal things. It won’t even matter if they use an image from a week ago, or a month ago.

The comments sections aren't reacting well to William making it clear he won't be around for a while.

Not surprised really! They have all the help they can get, he isn't going to be doing all the cooking, cleaning etc. Whilst she is resting. They have people who so that for them.

So being by her side while she is resting ..doing what exactly? Reading her a story 🤨 brushing her hair? I don't get it.

That's how out of touch they are, cos for the rest of us we would take time off to do all the things they have help for. He is taking time off for what exactly...sure maybe slow it down but nothing....

Thedrownedprophet · 07/02/2024 00:31

Precisely, and lots of us have lived experience of dealing with sudden illness/major surgery while holding down jobs, and raising small children with absolutely no support.

notthatthis · 07/02/2024 00:44

Or the luxury of private hospitals

user1477255159 · 07/02/2024 01:26

If the King is out of action and William is also out of action for a while obviously the role is not needed and certainly not worth being paid mmioms of £s per annum non taxable.
William says his life's work is to end homelessness yet he's not announced any plans to build anything.
This is 2024, people need to wake up.

Hillcrest2022 · 07/02/2024 02:31

@TallerSally were you a bit drunk when you posted this?

Your comment was full of typos which lead me to wonder.

Williams' wife is recovering from surgery so we can all expect he is taking care of her and their children.

Janetime · 06/02/2024 17:47

Honestly I’ve just reread your angry little post. I’ve no idea why you’re irate. Apparently William and Charles have been having meetings every evening. He is currently at home with his wife and kids and returns to work tomorrow. Charles isn’t at deaths door, have you misunderstood?

That is very patronizing.

Clearly the op is talking about media coverage.

Propertylover · 07/02/2024 06:13

I think it’s nice a Dad choosing to spend half term with his children. it is clear W & C are hands on parents and that is a healthy way to bring up children.

Yes he is fortunate to be able to afford to do that, but as we often read on threads many Dads avoid family time at all costs.

It's clear the OP (as usual) is talking about how much she wants to be told, and needs to know about the RF.
Maybe she should ring the Mail if her wishes aren't being fulfilled instead of her usual MO of slagging the Wales' off.

William and Kate like to raise their children in a more normal fashion and if you were recovering from surgery would you rather have your secretary or your husband around? would your children rather a nanny or their father around?

Diana was praised for being a hands on parent not sure why will and Kate are criticised for doing the same but more mundane (less flashy outings more day to day stuff) its almost like there are double standards 🤔

They already have nannies they are not raising them like normal people do. They have cleaners, chefs, secretaries and more.

You really think William is there cooking and cleaning right now? Organising lunches for the kids and making them dinner? Sorting out doctors, dentist appointments and so on. Will he having to handle washing all the clothes and making sure they are put away?

Dream on!

And with flexible working now a days most partners coukd work from home and still do all that stuff!
