Does anyone know where Prince William is?

TallerSally · 06/02/2024 17:44

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

MN are clearly ok with this thread ( they are probably munching cheese and biscuits ) and as far as I can see only one person has had posts deleted and that is the person complaining about the thread!

Yes curious deletions but I'm sure I said nothing in them of any consequence whatsoever, so not a great loss.

I pointed out the derailing long after the deletions Mylovelygreendress. No post which was deleted mentioned derailing.

Tbf, MN will only look at the thread if there are any reported posts.

AliceOlive · 11/02/2024 15:50

I’m not trying to derail. I am 1) being more thoughtful about how I post and 2) continuing on with a conversation that was already going when I came online this morning. And I’m obsessed with cheese. Someone counted once and I had 14 kinds in my refrigerator. Not one was processed American cheese.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 11/02/2024 15:50

@goodbyestranger

What's left to derail? The OP's post has been answered. There's nothing further to say on it. She asked where William was and he appeared twice the very next day. What more can anyone say on the question posed in the OP?

wildernesssw · 11/02/2024 15:53

I hardly dare introduce the question of oatcakes instead of Ritz crackers...

jeffgoldblum · 11/02/2024 15:54

I did try and point this out ! @RocketsMagnificent7 ! I mean technically posting about posters derailing is at this point a derailment! 🤷‍♀️

Mumsnut · 11/02/2024 15:54

Oatcakes !! Yum

Am I the only one who is scratching their head in disbelief at certain posts ??

No me too

Every time I see the thread title I think of the old grocery store prank call, “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”

Aquarius1234 · 11/02/2024 16:35

Apparently he is still refusing to take on any more work.

I'm guessing he hasn't racked up many royal engagements in the last 10 years.
I bet he won't do 10/ 11 thousand over 20 years like Anne and Charles did.

wordler · 11/02/2024 16:38

I have to comment on the cheese stuff:

@goodbyestranger did you mean you hated all ‘American’ cheese - as in that’s actually a specific type of cheese in itself - for example people ask what cheese do you want on your burger - Swiss or American? It’s a kind of bland version of cheddar.

Or did you mean you hated all cheese MADE in America - even if it’s a hard cheese in the style of a Swiss cheese, soft cheese like Brie or a blue cheese?

Even then I don’t understand why you simply didn’t buy an imported cheese when you were so desperate for cheese.

All the supermarkets here - even the cheapy Giant - have a large selection of imported cheeses. As well as some quite good soft and hard cheeses made in America which are comparable to those made in Europe. I had a delicious Virginia Brie this week. Was a small artisan maker and it was just as good as any I’ve had in France.

I never buy the type of cheese known as ‘American’ as I’d just get a cheap cheddar like Cabot if I wanted to make a cheesy pasta dish etc.

Don't Alice !
All I see now is Tim curry dressed as it ! Hopping about with a horn !!!

wordler · 11/02/2024 16:46

Also I’ve had the best tasting fresh goat cheese in the world in Vermont - just amazing. And I’d consider that American cheese - just not ‘American Cheese’

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 16:46

Life has clearly moved on since my years in the US. There was nothing in any supermarket that I went to ever that stocked anything other than the rubbery cheeses. I phrased my comment in the past tense but unfortunately it got leapt on by an over enthusiastic fellow poster. Eventually I found sanctuary in Carmel, with imported Cheddar, so you know - I survived. I think I'm just about capable of buying more edible versions of the product had they been on offer but it was US manufactured only and all were horrible.

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 16:48

Usually I go by the 'When in Rome' policy but I had to draw the line in America, with cheese.

wordler · 11/02/2024 16:51

Well - I’ve only been here 15 years but I just asked my mother in law who is American and in her 80s and she say there’s always been American made cheeses which were not the rubbery stuff. And there have always been local creameries making all sorts of fresh cheeses in most of the East Coast states as far as she is aware.

Maybe you were just unlucky in your location.

wordler · 11/02/2024 16:56

They aren’t allowed to use raw milk in the soft cheeses which does change the texture and flavour a bit in their versions of Brie and Camembert for example but I’ve still experienced some very very good American soft cheeses.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/02/2024 17:39

I know where William is!

He's in lovely Norfolk for half term with his lovely family. I hope they have lots of lovely fun, lots of lovely visits with the King and Queen and eat lots of lovely cheese.

(Autocorrect wrote "lots of lovely bodies with the King" glad I caught that one in time, there are enough conspiracy theories in this world.)

Back to your regular cheesy programming!

Daisyislazy · 11/02/2024 18:02

I'm from the west of Scotland , we have some lovely local cheeses... and proper rough oatcakes

cyclamenqueen · 11/02/2024 18:37

Hopefully he is enjoying some Norfolk Mardler , or some Mrs Temples Walsingham or my personal favourite; Wells Alpine ( Alpine cheese in a county as flat as Norfolk😮)
