Does anyone know where Prince William is?

1000 replies

TallerSally · 06/02/2024 17:44

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

As I have been told before , threads meander …

wildernesssw · 11/02/2024 15:26

Feel free to report to MN if you think we're breaking their guidelines.

Alternatively, post something relevant to the OP.

Or, of course, just ignore the cheese posts and find something that interests you!

It seems you are also interested in discussing cheese! I’ll gladly join a thread if you start one. Are we allowed to create off topic threads under RF?

Haha no I will not be joining any cheese thread.

Well assuming that, then you would know that it is not the 'rural roads' which are a problem but the main arterial route north of London which north of the M11 is mostly single carriageway and that the long term resurfacing project at Brabaham through to Six Mile Bottom is causing long delays. Of course this is long overdue but it is adding to the problems, the alternative A10 route also has a number of temporary traffic lights and winds it way though various fenland towns, with a huge amount of stop start (a security issue as well). It is not a country lane, as you imply, but a major thoroughfare which does not have the ability to cope with the current traffic load. Even this afternoon , google maps is suggesting 2hrs 56 minutes and commercial traffic is light on a Sunday.

However my local commissary now imports very nice cheeses. Not a huge selection but enough to manage. It comes in paper not plastic. People who love cheese historically went to cheese shops in US. The butcher for meat. Local markets for produce. We still do actually.

I very, very rarely report.

The fact remains there are clear attempts to derail these rf threads and the cheese stuff is just one of them.

My experience (Pennsylvania) was the supermarket cheese (and bread!) was pretty dire, but it was possible to find specialist outlets/artisan makers.

Just saw a photo of HM . He was WALKING to church , smiling and waving so looks like the palace is lying AGAIN!!

Oh my god, the bastards. Also, was it church, or was it a gambling den?

I did find cheese in America absolutely revolting. Although a small but vocal group of people have taken over the thread with all this stuff about cheese it remains the fact that it's not ok to hijack a thread in that way. I chucked in a view based on my personal experience, framed it in the past tense and then boom. The OP, TallerSally, has had her points completely drowned out. I think MN likes threads to keep vaguely to the point of the original post. This cheese stuff is just another ploy to derail. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever why you guys can't set up a cheese thread in Chat or AIBU. But here it's purpose seems to be to avoid any talk about the rf. Perhaps one should return to TallerSally's post and you do your stuff on a more appropriate purpose built thread.

I'm sorry but I need to answer this , the original question the op stated was " where is Prince William "
Since this question was answered only hours later by him appearing, the thread moved on , as is the way , to talk about rf in general, you yourself posted many comments about Charles , technically that was not the subject of the op original post either!
So it's rather strange you are now complaining about others not sticking your the original op!

So, you won't report, but you will attack other posters?

That's the opposite of what MN tells everyone to do! Don't police threads yourself, it's not your job to tell other posters what they can/can't do, but report and let MN decide whether something breaks the guidelines.

The rural lanes comment was purely in reply to whichever post it was on whichever page which said that no-one who was saying 'only 100 miles' could be familiar with rural areas. You're conflating things, no doubt unintentionally.

We all know 'church' is basically a cover for all sorts of vice when it comes to the RF, maireas...

I don't think pointing out a brazen attempt to derail is an 'attack' wildernesssw. It's intended to stop derails which seems a fair motive.

I did similar recently and can promise it’s not something I’ll do again.

Yeah even 20 years ago it was a very different experience!

wildernesssw · 11/02/2024 15:44

I think there's a lot more available here in the UK than 20 years ago as well, more and more people thinking about quality (and local, and seasonal)

Mylovelygreendress · 11/02/2024 15:45

MN are clearly ok with this thread ( they are probably munching cheese and biscuits ) and as far as I can see only one person has had posts deleted and that is the person complaining about the thread!

jeffgoldblum · 11/02/2024 15:46

You could also argue that posting about Charles and tampons on a thread about the pow surgery and health is also a derailment!

I don't need to do anything wildernesssw.

If people want to derail then they should be left to derail and so raise the question: why do they feel they have to? I've pointed out how brazen it is - so you go right ahead :)
