Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

I am very familiar with the journey (all routes). sometimes it is reasonably quick (ie at 3am), other times it is torturous . Stuck in a jam whilst feeling poorly and with a dodgy prostate to boot would be awful.

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 12:01

Ok jeff well perhaps the next time a poster wants to criticise what another poster has said and uses the exact same words as the latter, they could be bold enough to quote, in order that the latter isn't in effect gagged. Since that is emphatically not within the spirit of MN and is obviously just a way to avoid a legitimate response.

Can we now move on?

ArcaneWireless · 11/02/2024 12:02

I am a wilds dweller. I would have a hoppy flight instead of a longer commute all day long if I could. Especially if I was poorly.

In other news, I am a leggy blonde, a billionaire and my folks are going full Benjamin Button and are currently 12. I may have a timeshare penthouse in Elevenerife too…

Moving on….

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 12:04

Most routes out of London can be torturous if you pick your time.

The point is that Charles is a recidivist with his unnecessary helicopter rides. He just does what he pleases and always has done. Which is fine but maybe he should practice what he preaches about looking out for excess use of carbon.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 11/02/2024 12:07

While I'm in broad agreement with practising what you preach, HM has just had his first treatment for cancer. If he wants to use the most comfortable (for him) and quickest way to get somewhere after that so he can rest and recuperate then I'll cut him some slack on this occasion.

Which is fine but maybe he should practice what he preaches about looking out for excess use of carbon

Like two unnecessary flights across the Atlantic?

I, for one, really really wish you would.

Perhaps he does other things, perhaps his doctors advised against a long car journey

Jeez how did we get from where's William to Charles and his swollen balls and his helicopter ?

Because despite most travelling alongside in the helicopter given the circumstances , there will be others doggedly unable to move on because they’ve got blisters on their fingers on their knees having gone the pilgrimage route.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/02/2024 12:15

There are many thing to pick on to criticise the rf, but as most here are saying, a helicopter ride when you’ve started cancer treatment… mealy-mouthed choice of complaint.

Also fed up with posters and their personal knowledge . Ok, I was guilty about the length of drive, but some posters do it every time! It’s “my dd is a doctor so…” “I lived in the US so…” “I danced with a man who danced with a girl who danced with the Prince of Wales…”.

Btw it’s a small number of posters, not just one .

Daisyislazy · 11/02/2024 12:17

ArcaneWireless · 11/02/2024 12:18

I’ve danced IN the Prince of Wales….

A small amount of alcohol was responsible.

And thankfully there were no actual princes about to mount me round the side of it when I needed to get some fresh air… cheers 🥂 🐴

I can only suggest it but if others insist on not moving on, not much I can do.

i think moving on is a good idea but maybe bear in mind that it would be nice if you believed someone when they said they were thinking of several posters and not you particularly. I may have unconsciously picked the same word that you used because I had indeed read your post. That does not mean I was picking on you personally. As @jeffgoldblum says, I would have tagged you or quoted your post if I was replying directly to you. Your insistence that I must have meant you is irksome when I have already told you I didn’t.

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 12:21

Personal experience is bound to inform people’s views.

It’s certainly true that a lot of posters insist on sharing their personal experience but it’s also true that if they say something and hold back on the personal they’re rounded on and asked how they know.

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 12:24

smilesy I have at no point said your comment was solely directed at me - entirely false premise. As you say, I was one of those included and that should be sufficient to allow a response, in a normal conversation.

jeffgoldblum · 11/02/2024 12:24

@smilesy , so what's your opinion on cheese? , are you a fan? , are you a soft or hard girl?

jeffgoldblum · 11/02/2024 12:26

I already know about @ArcaneWireless , cheese affiliations.

Well I for one sometimes like it soft and sometimes like it hard; and sometimes I like it with blue veins. Eclectic in my tastes, me.

goodbyestranger · 11/02/2024 10:32

I agree all those saying “it’s only 100 miles” have obviously never tried to get to some of the more extreme or rural parts of the country

The reason I'm qualified to say it's only 100 miles is because for over forty years as an adult I lived in rural Devon in a village which was only accessible by tiny lanes not created for motor vehicles. I also know the drive from Central London/ the Mall to Norfolk having done it often myself. It's perfectly doable perfectly comfortably at that time on a Tuesday afternoon. Thursday and esp Friday slightly more stressful. No excuse for a helicopter.

Also, more unfounded assumptions.

Edited

I spend a lot of time in West Norfolk and work in central London. There is a difference between going to Norwich and going to West Norfolk . Also if you live in Devon how recently have you done the drive to Kings Lynn. In fact is there anything you don’t consider yourself an expert on, have you seem the Kings medical notes ?

jeffgoldblum · 11/02/2024 12:35

Ahh very wise @MrsDanversGlidesAgain ! , I too like an eclectic mixture depending on my mood!

wildernesssw · 11/02/2024 12:35

Quite right. All cheese is Good.

Unless it is a spray 🤑sorry @AliceOlive
