Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

Ever had Velveeta?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velveeta

Solely for cooking. (Please Lord, don't let that be true for all.)
My uncle swore you could not make macaroni and cheese without it and he was actually a great cook. But he died before Ina Garten was popular and I wouldn't be caught dead with velveeta in the house these days.

Do you think it would be ok to start an Off Topic thread here in the RRF so we can talk about important topics like cheese that arise here on RFF without derailing?

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2024 16:23

So sorry @AliceOlive , no primula is not spray cheese , we don't have spray cheese in the U.K. , it's simply soft cheese in a tube .

Maireas · 09/02/2024 16:25

Why on earth would Harry do the Vegas presentation gig if he wasn't being paid?!
Just the publicity? Picture in papers?.🤔

mrsmingleton · 09/02/2024 16:26

It's all part of the being relevant and being available for hire @Maireas.

Don't be sorry for me. I am the one with ready access to the spray cheese. 😂
My mistake, I saw one of the meme's and misunderstood.

But tube cheese does seem like a close cousin (albeit without all the chemicals we surely have here.)

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2024 16:35

It's difficult to explain @AliceOlive , without sounding judgmental about your cheese , but I will try because you know I wouldn't be insulting to Americans, I managed to get my hands on spray cheese and cheese wizz and velveteen ( sorry my autocorrect doesn't like it!) loved them all but they wouldn't be allowed to be classified as cheese in the U.K. , they have a similar style of ingredients as the burger slices we have here , dairylea slices and spread and primula are allowed to be called cheese because they are made in a traditional way but are processed to make them soft for spreading or squeezing of made into a slice , does that make sense?

A selection of Duchy/Waitrose cheeses to merge seamlessly - rather than pivot - back to the RF...

AliceOlive · 09/02/2024 16:40

Yes, makes sense. And I agree those are definitely not cheese!
Order has been restored in my brain now.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2024 16:42

I knew you'd get it @AliceOlive , I still hanker for some cheese sprayed into my gob!! 🤣

The event was streamed by Paramount Plus. Hevwas a guest of the Paramount Plus CEO last week in Jamaica. Possibly trying to get in with them by doing a free gig for them

The plot thickens @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar !!

This makes me think of Marty Crane fromm Frasier; and, in Friends, Chandler buying Joey's girlfriend (his secret crush) a copy of The Velveteen Rabbit and Joey giving it to her and telling her he bought it because he knows she likes cheese.

What is spray cheese, please? Is it posh? When William is nowhere to be seen is that because he's at home making spray cheese and Branston for Kate's supper?

AliceOlive · 10/02/2024 00:31

It’s “cheese” in a pressurized can. You push a nozzle and it comes out like string. It’s terrifying and delightful all at once.

Not posh. It’s a novelty these days.

Hey, my primula comes from a tube, not a skooshy can, and I eat mine on a Ritz cracker with an individual silverskin pickled onion.

It. Is. The. Height. Of. Sophistication. The. Height.

Noooooooo

My Swedish friend introduced to the absolute height of sophistication - Primula Blue cheese spread (tube only) that you use the tube to pipe a little rosette onto a gingerbread/spice biscuit ... mind blown

Ah well now we know why Harry made such a quick trip to the UK - he had another engagement and suddenly someone thought how bad he would look if he went to that without first going to see KC.

Personally I think Harry had 2 other engagements.

The first was in London to meet with his lawyers to sign all of the paperwork for settling the case (that was announced today). I guess this was already pre-planned but the timing worked well. Then he could squeeze in a quick visit to "ailing father" that he knew would guarantee dominating news coverage.'

Then back on the plane to the US and probably straight to Vegas without going home as he was booked for the speaking gig.

Most common sense post we will ever see about this topic of him flying over. But of course people esp media love to keep that toxic negative culture going

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 02:00

These days you don't have to be physically in the country to sign documents for them to be legally binding. He could have signed anything needing to be signed while in the USA.

How do you think people with international business interests manage? Rishi Sunak for example? He's not jumping on a plane every time he needs to sign a document.

Serenster · 10/02/2024 08:21

Totally, wildernessw! You haven’t had to physically sign documents for about 35 years now.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 08:25

He might well have wanted an in person meeting with David Sherborne ahead of the hearing.
