Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

He might well have wanted an in person meeting with David Sherborne ahead of the hearing.

Yes absolutely @goodbyestranger , for example, he may have wanted to give him a hug, or perhaps air-drop some footage of his cat in Montecito…

🤣 I vote for the hug

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 09:20

Tbf David Sherborne probably deserves a hug 👏

Just catching up.

Mmm, spray cheese, terrifying and wonderful at the same time. Thanks, Alice. I don't need to ask if there are additives.

Serenster, if I am in the UK and my last will and testament is in the USA, how would I sign it for it to be legal?

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:09

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:06

@upinaballoon some info from the Law Commission

Electronic signatures are valid, confirms Law Commission - Law Commission

Were I work we use Docusign - other means are available, Adobe for one

Edited

Why does this mean that Harry shouldn't have a meeting in person with his legal team?

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:12

🤔where have I claimed it was? upinaballoon asked how a will in the USA can be signed if you are in the UK.

I answered that electronic signatures are legally valid, and named a couple of packages that offer the necessary validations.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:19

Apologies. I didn't read upinaballoon's post to the end - I skipped it when I saw cheese.

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:22

Even if you didn't read upinaballoon's full post, I still can't see anything in my post to say Harry shouldn't meet his legal team in person.

Although it is certainly the case that there was no practical/legal need for them all to be in the same place at the same time.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:35

wildernesssw I assumed that you were evidencing your point made earlier today:

These days you don't have to be physically in the country to sign documents for them to be legally binding. He could have signed anything needing to be signed while in the USA

Because the gist of the posts a page back was that Harry didn't need to come to meet his legal team. Even though he might want to and in person meetings with a team are often preferable. But for some reason the anti Harry posters didn't want to allow him the option, since in their view it wasn't necessary, apparently.

I will go on record as saying I think someone who bangs on about the environmental cost of travel at other people should not fly transcontinental to meet lawyers in person now that we have perfectly good tools for meeting blind.

Anyway, do we have any evidence that is why he went? If it was really to see his ill father I see nothing wrong with that at all.

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:41

Yes, there's no reason why he shouldn't prefer an in-person meeting (although as far as I know there is nothing to suggest he did include a meeting with his lawyers on this flying visit). It is a matter of choice.

He has publicly said people should consider the environmental impact of their choices, especially with regards to long-haul flights.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:42

wildernesssw but if you're going to fly then combining two or more missions on one trip makes absolute sense.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:47

And Charles decided to take a helicopter for the relatively short distance to Sandringham rather than stay in the incredibly luxurious car he took the few yards from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace.

So much hypocrisy.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:48

Not even an engagement, just wanted to suit himself and get there that little bit quicker.

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:49

'If you're going to fly' - well, if both/all 'missions' can be accomplished without flying, then it is a personal choice to take two long-haul flights in 36? 48? hours when you didn't need to.

Lots of people do, I have no doubt. But maybe not people who can about the environmental impact.

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2024 14:49

I imagine after starting cancer treatment, he was feeling a bit unwell!!!

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 14:50

A short helicopter trip to get from A to B is not quite in the same league as two long-haul flights that get you from A to B to A again in quick succession

Charles has form for taking unnecessary helicopter rides as well as a big reputation for being super impatient.

He's just a spoiled child.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 14:51

But laced in with that is his hypocrisy on environmental issues.

This.

I would love to see their PR bill - the must spend many, many millions each year in reputation washing.

You're full of the milk of human kindness aren't you. Charles has cancer and I don't grudge him a helicopter ride.

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 15:03

It's got fuck all to do with cancer or human kindness. He could have sunk into those back seats for the hundred mile trip and been completely comfortable. This is a habit with Charles, not new for his recently diagnosed illness.

Personally, I find Charles lacking in kindness himself, judging him on his behaviour over the past thirty years.

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2024 15:12

Has Charles lectured everyone about flying then?
Started an environmental travel company?
If so my apologies that would make him a hypocrite!

goodbyestranger · 10/02/2024 15:16

He's a hypocrite given his lecturing on green issues and then hopping in a helicopter whenever he pleases, especially for a short journey which is not an official engagement, obviously.
