Does anyone know where Prince William is?

1000 replies

TallerSally · 06/02/2024 17:44

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

Or maybe he has. As Littletea said, Charles is learning so why can’t William? The context here would suggest that his comment was perfectly ok, but you are clearly determined to show otherwise by your drip drip of comments

Maybe smilesy or maybe not. Either is possible. No idea what you mean by drip drip. I'm replying as others post.

I have never read about an 'insistent PM'. All I have seen and read is, that they wanted to recreate what QEII had done as this was a Platinum jubilee tour, there were even pictures of her doing the same and I believe the Land Rover was the same one tarted up.

Saying they didn't want to say no... that is quite funny. They are the ultimate people with power to be able to say no, or indeed yes to anything.
The fence was awful. But I blame their advisers for this more than them. Absolutely tone deaf, the optics were dreadful.

Oh lovely ladies, no flowers required, I'm as tough as old boots. I hate the way young people of colour are having their power taken away from them by "educators" telling them they will always be victims.

Have them anyway ! And here is some bonus cheese 🧀 🫕🪤😜

Have some flowers anyway, the weather is cr*p so anything that brightens up the day can only be good!

This is true, bloody horrible here, so I accept, thank you (DCats say thank you too, they love a flower to chew on).

wildernesssw · 08/02/2024 12:01

Oooh, @jeffgoldblum you had to top my post, didn't you?! 😁

Thanks Jeff. Nom nom. Break out the kimchi 😂

But people on these threads are insistent that the rf do heaps of prep. If that's so - and this trip was a big one, so if it's ever true it will have been here - then it can't be pinned on the advisers. William will have known exactly what was going to happen each day and could quite easily have pulled the plug. I think he just didn't think it through - he's not sharp.

Yes, who knows. It had to be right because of where they were going and how visible they were going to be. It was a series of gaffes though. If I was William I would've been going through the timetable minute by minute... perhaps he did and found it all OK.

I think the days of Royal tours of this ilk are long gone now and I think that one put the tin hat on it.

Having said that Sophie & Edward do a lot of visiting other countries but the media barely report anything on them at all which is a shame because Sophie champions some good causes media are too busy manufacturing division about H&M to actually report on bona fide members of the RF

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 08/02/2024 12:15

Upset was the wrong word, I agree milkshake.

I’ve taken on board what you’ve said.

My intention was not to lecture.

I was posting about the need for the RF to change their attitudes and words and actions in this regard.

I very much agree about this. I'd love for Sophie's work to get more headlines; it's such important stuff.

I think the idea that she needs nurses at home is to give credence to the more
outlandish theories that she is either in a coma or William has drugged her and keeps her locked in a dungeon😆

No doubt @smilesy - though I'm still waiting for the theory that actually she's dead and they're hushing it up (probably the Twitterati have already got there?) Wink

The fence was awful. But I blame their advisers for this more than them. Absolutely tone deaf, the optics were dreadful

Agree with you, @Roussette, though I still think there was an element of looking for something to be offended by. It's not as if the wellwishers had been caged in somehow - it was said they'd made their own way to an "unauthorised" area - and if they'd been ignored I'm pretty sure there'd have been an image of "helpless hands reaching out and being callously snubbed"

And sorry for @ing others ... my quote function doesn't seem to be working

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/02/2024 12:35

@LittleTeawithmilk1 no problem, thanks.

jeffgoldblum · 08/02/2024 12:37

So returning to the original question from the thread ,
I would say the answer is a resounding YES!

Roussette · 08/02/2024 12:42

@Puzzledandpissedoff

I thought this about the quote function. It's moved! I kept looking for it... it's now underneath the post! I thought I was going bonkers lol

It took me a while to find it and I still keep clicking on the dots at the top and wondering where it has gone 🤔😆

Roussette · 08/02/2024 12:54

@Puzzledandpissedoff
Don't!

On another thread I laboriously copy and pasted posts because I couldn't find it! I kept clicking on the three dots !

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/02/2024 12:56

Like smilesy I still am clicking the dots Roussette, even having found the right bit ... it's a hard habit to break Grin

I'm going with the fact that I've always been utterly hopeless with tech, so anything remotely new fries what passes for my brain Wink

The optics in Jamaica were not good and someone on the team should have been experienced enough to spot and avoid the fence pictures - not by ignoring the kids but finding a better way to engage with them rather than through the fence.

However the main reason jt blew up as big as it did and lasted through the whole tour was because of a co-ordinated attack by the so-called Sussex squad fanatics on Twitter who created some vile hashtags and pushed the racist royals narrative for days. You could tell it was co-ordinated because there were multiple identical posts and loads of new accounts all set up in a similar way tweeting every 1-2 minutes for days.

Some of the exact language and tweets was then pushed through the comments sections of the mainstream media comments sections to an abnormal extent that it was inevitable that the reporters started commenting on the Twitter criticism - which then was taken up by pundits on chat shows and broadcast media.

It was an excellent, if chilling example of how social media trolling pushed by anonymous posters can drive a narrative into mainstream media that becomes the only thing people remember about what was a tour to several countries in the Commonwealth that generally went very well.
