Does anyone know where Prince William is?

Errrrr….. where’s Willy? The press focus in the past 24 hours has been perplexing. King Charles’ diagnostic has been the top item, of course. But, bizarrely, the 2nd item has almost invariably been… Prince Harry this and that and the other. Prince HARRY??? What’s with the obsession with him? This should be about Prince WILLIAM! Yet from/about him, absolute silence. What on Earth is going on?

And please don’t start with the “he has to be at his wife’s bedside”. If Harry The Not Next In Line To The Throne And Not Counsellor of State And Can’t Stand In For The King etc etc can fly all the way from Montecito, then William The next King and He Who Should Stand In For King Charles can go visit his Dad in hospital (did he?), rush to be by his dad’s bedside (did he?), make announcements about which official duties he will take up, etc etc.

I know Prince Harry is the one the media are addicted to writing about and slagging off to drive clicks, but can they (and so many on these boards) perhaps take a break from their unhealthy obsession with H (&M) and keep the spotlight where most would expect it to be, on King Charles and, in particular, his successor Prince William?

[Title should read does anyone know...]

The real answer is always so much more boring than the made up ones, isn't it?

Usually, yes, but it doesn't make such good clickbait which is why the media go for crap instead

Not sure why Kate having a couple of nurses at home is considered newsworthy though, no matter where they come from. If she needs the care I'd be more surprised if she didn't have them there

I think the idea that she needs nurses at home is to give credence to the more
outlandish theories that she is either in a coma or William has drugged her and keeps her locked in a dungeon 😆

mrsmingleton · 08/02/2024 11:03

The woman said she HAD those nurses.

Some people are absolutely desperate to find racism in any conversation the RF have. You don't do people of colour any favours, and I am one, and I find you utterly absurd.

Who is you?

goodbyestranger · 08/02/2024 10:56

YetMoreNewBeginnings yes that was shockingly tragic.

I don't think what you say follows however.

I think he’ll have been very careful in saying anything about hospital staff after that.

Plus his comment to the lady receiving the MBE will have been planned rather than off the cuff.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/02/2024 11:16

Anyone trying to make Willam mentioning the nationality of the nurses a sign of racism. As you said, @mrsmingleton the context of the conversation was William speaking to a woman who recruits overseas nurses. There's literally nothing in it to object about. Sorry if you thought the comment was aimed at you, I thank you for setting out the context fully.

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 08/02/2024 11:21

Goodbyestranger is not the only one that took it that way too. I did too, as I said. However, I found Mrs F’s opinion that he spoke like he did because the MBE recipient is an international nursing recruiter to be likely.

Everything they say publicly goes international now because of the internet. And British media owned by Americans and Europeans. Charles is head of the Commonwealth of Nations. If it still exists in its present form William will follow him. And there are more Black and Brown members of the Commonwealth than White. Historically, Many of them were colonised in the name of the British Monarch. Every word the Royals say in regards to Race is very important. The RF can’t just go on as some of them have before, because chances are they won’t be granted the benefit of the doubt by all of the citizens of the commonwealth. Nor should they always be. They have to learn a new way. They know this. Charles referred to it in his visit to Kenya. When he said he is learning.

No real need to comment on it at all then other than to cast aspersions 🤨

I don’t see any good reason not to cast aspersions.

William wasn’t capable of intervening to say no to any of the more extreme aspects of his and Kate’s so called Colonial Tour. I doubt he’s suddenly become especially sensitive.

jeffgoldblum · 08/02/2024 11:23

That's because the woman involved recruits staff from abroad. It was showing that he was aware of her role.

Yes @mrsmingleton , William is also in partnership with this particular group who recruit medical professionals from other countries.

This is exactly the kind of thing that their staff do - find relevant information for them to inform them about the recipients. I have a family member in the NHS and a friend in the Dept of Work and Pensions and both were spoken to briefly about their reason for getting it. ( both were unusual cases)

Well said.

Sometimes the petty point scoring on here is just ludicrous.

^^ This. I posted a lot about it at the time. I didn't understand it then, and I don't now. His advisers needed sacking after that tour.

Thanks for the patronising history lesson, clearly as a 50 something brown woman borne of Commonwealth citizens, I need a primer in colonialism and racism from you.

Or maybe he has. As Littletea said, Charles is learning so why can’t William? The context here would suggest that his comment was perfectly ok, but you are clearly determined to show otherwise by your drip drip of comments

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 08/02/2024 11:37

This international recruiting is nutty stuff on the part of governments. (No aspersion being can’t on the MBE recipient here, absolutely none). I read Australia is recruiting nurses and doctors from overseas. And one of the places they are recruiting from is Britain. Also of concern is that the recruiting governments are taking doctors and nurses from countries that have trained them and need them by offering benefits. Their own countries have educated and trained them, but they are being drained. Short sighted of the recruiting governments. If only they’d trained more of the populace of their own countries. It’s part of the government underfunding of health care systems.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/02/2024 11:44

I doubt you care that you are upsetting me @LittleTeawithmilk1 , and actually you are not. I just find your posts on race absurd, in trying to shoehorn colonialism into a conversation where the full context is clear; and patronising, because I am brown and don't like being lectured about race when I have lived a long life knowing what racism looks like.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/02/2024 11:48

The "Colonial Tour". An insistent PM asking them to go in some sort of open top vehicle. Perhaps they were too polite to say no. Lesson learned that you can't trust a republican PM to act in good faith when he has an agenda. The shaking hands through the fence - well it was a football ground, I am sure the locals didn't want to dismantle the fence between pitch and crowd for a brief royal visit. And the crowd were wanting to shake hands, so hardly turning their backs on W&C, were they? And the hijacking of them at the press conference - classless. As I understand it, there was a huge amount of positive local press on the visit.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 08/02/2024 11:49

Oh lovely ladies, no flowers required, I'm as tough as old boots. I hate the way young people of colour are having their power taken away from them by "educators" telling them they will always be victims.

wildernesssw · 08/02/2024 11:52

Have some flowers anyway, the weather is cr*p so anything that brightens up the day can only be good!
