Reading the news this morning I feel King Charles is lucky to have such a great medical team. How many men are admitted quickly for enlarged prostate and possible exposed to the range of test necessary for an early diagnosis of cancer?

It would be good to know what the cancer is and how it was in reality detected if Charles is serious about being a high profile advocate of early detection. However revealing too much would expose maybe the differences between private treatment and th NHS?

My Dad. Not exactly the same, but he was admitted following a collapse, they thought it was his aortic aneurysm again so did a CT scan, which then picked up lung cancer (which he had never shown symptoms of).

It does happen.

Yes. He is a few months younger than my mum who has bags of energy and I’ve no doubt could easily run the country. Not all 75 year olds are the same, but Charles is not an “old” 75.

@Stringagal @dorriss I agree 100%.

@SweetBirdsong You should look at Brand Finance who gives out this narrative. Are they impartial? Are they Royalists?

I’m no fan of Harry but he’s damned in some people’s eyes whether he comes or not.

He comes - making it about himself or
He doesn’t come and is heartless.

Sorry I should have added of course he is going to

come. Speaking from experience with both Fil and my dad a cancer diagnosis is a shock & if you are a flight away you’d want to be there.

With my dad my sibling flew over immediately.

All the current British RF you can tell are clinging to what the Queen had which is and was all the pomp and ceremony, which is great for tourists and royalists but is really outdated and irrelevant in this day and age. But Wills will not we you say reform and isn’t as hardworking. He will stick to the status quo come hell and high water.

I very much agree that the entire institution needs to be dialled back. No one needs 12 or 14 residences (it depends how you count them) like KC even if half of them are state buildings.

Edited to say that we don’t know for sure what Wills will do or what style of monarchy he favours because he hasn’t had a proper crack at the job as yet. I think there’s every chance, thanks to his mother embracing charitable causes like homelessness and his focus on mh, that it will all be a lot more low key.

I’m afraid the late Queen although born for the job didn’t do enough innovating and stripping back. Everyone is saying there aren’t enough family members to cover the roles they are expected to do, but why not cut back many of their patronages and annual events too? Let the entire institution cut back the number of engagements they do, the number of properties they own and the number of family members taking on the role. It’s not rocket science! The tree needs pruning in every direction, not just snipping off at the top!

I'm guessing it's bladder cancer. Enlarged prostate is treated with a TURP where bits of the prostate are shaved off via the bladder. You have a good look of the bladder whilst you're doing the procedure....

Harry coming over the pond to see his father - very normal and expected at some point given the diagnosis.

Harry coming now - well his father will undergo some gruelling treatment and both may want to see each other before KC is feeling rough for some time during chemo or whatever. The rest of the family can visit as and when there are "good days" whilst on treatment. Harry may not be able to pre-empt the good days from afar though.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Yep, old friend of mine went to hospital after a fall. Scan, to look for damage, picked up an early cancer in a different place. In her 70s. Radium. Waiting now for appt to see if it bopped the cancer. No private treatment. All NHS.

I agree. Have them, fine but fewer of them doing more and open up more of the Palaces to the public. I think The Late Queen should have stood down. I don't think William is anywhere near as reforming as Charles, or as hardworking. He'll cling to the status quo for as long as he can.

Tend to agree with this. William, to me, seems so arrogant and unlikeable.
I think the Queen should have handed over to Charles years ago.

Yes, seems like sense.

I also hope, and this might have been said ( I haven't time to read all 26 pages just now ) that he has LEARNED a little from the criticism he's had about his actions and words when his grandparents were ill. We all live and learn.

I had chiropractic treatment last year. The chiropractor said they had been picking loads of cancer up after lockdown that presented as back problems .

Wherediditgoto · 06/02/2024 11:19

I don’t think William is arrogant. I think he hates being in the situation he’s in and comes across as someone with depression actually.

Cheating man who called his bulimic Ex wife, fat, gets cancer...

Mean while Abdul Shokoor Ezedi is still on the run after throwing a corrosive substance on a woman and 2 children and cannot be found.

I think I know which one I'm more interested in.

wow, you read like you live in the gutter press of eighties, drunk the cool aid and can’t sober up. Many people can be interested in more than one thing at a time, it’s not a competition.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/02/2024 11:24

I remember Camilla, who is rarely heard on camera, saying several times on the news before the Coronation that Charles was a very fit man

Well at such a time she'd hardly say he was sick even if it was true, and in any case it's all part of the PR/image building

This person's an intellectual, they're an environmentalist, someone else is a humanitarian and so on, and none of it necessarily has any basis in fact

That's not how the monarchy works ...

To be fair the monarchy makes its own rules and make changes to suit themselves, so if she had wanted to (and it would have been the right thing to do imo), she’d have done it.

How insightful. Personally I'm interested in the US-China semiconductor trade battle which ramped up this week, as well as KC's diagnosis.

But then I read your post and I now understand that I can only be interested in one thing at a time.

Thanks for the information!

But I don't know! He's not giving anything away.

I'm reading in the press that HM has a cancer (unspecified) for which he's receiving treatment (unspecified) at a hospital (unspecified), and that's all Britain and the Commonwealth have been told - and yet according to you BP has told your editor 'mate' on some European trashmag what the real story is about his condition?

Yeah, OK.

First rule of fiction. Make it credible.

I hope he’s ok and can back to work if he gets well. We really don’t need William as King.

Work? 😂

You need to do your research. Diana her self confirmed her Bulimia and the reason for it.

Exactly. Their PR spins out anything at all and for some reason, some people never question it and lap it up. It’s so strange to observe how the public react. It’s like a social experiment!
