They are greedy for power and for money.

And the rest of the Royals aren’t? 🙃

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/02/2024 20:07

Paul the Octopus was pretty accurate, IIRC - Nostradamus, not so much.

OhmygodDont · 05/02/2024 20:07

I like octopus though I’d come back as a sea horse personally. The men give birth 😅

BlackLabradors · 05/02/2024 20:08

@OhmygodDont so you are saying you know what it is but won’t tell us….

Sorry to hear that, how is your DH now?

Cancer waiting times are woeful especially after the pandemic…

That said I also would not like to be in a queue for free NHS treatment behind wealthy people who could just as easily pay for it themselves and get out of the way of people who can’t!

Bed bound at present. Multiple myeloma. 6 broken vertebrae, plus ribs, a hip and possibly shoulder blade. They don’t scan now, just assume lol.

Finally seem to have got the pain relief right, and we’re on cycle 2 of chemo.

thank you for asking xx

I think Nostradamus is as relevant as Paul the Octopus.

How dare you insinuate someone of the highest intelligence who applies the scientific method to calculate likely future outcomes based on hard, rigorous data belongs in the same category as the charlatan Nostradamus #JeSuisPaul

mids2019 · 05/02/2024 20:10

I think the calls of. 'a quick recovery' by major pubic and political. figures seem a little naieve if you have acknowledge of cancer. Cancer is not like a broken foot where cure is guaranteed.

I wonder to what extent even the PM is a little in the dark and so have to resort to positive statements as they are not fully briefed?

Will there maybe some less optimistic statements as things come out?

mrsmingleton · 05/02/2024 20:10

Oops sorry I forgot Paul was in on that match rigging scam.

@OhmygodDont so you are saying you know what it is but won’t tell us….

It doesn’t take a lot of google work for cancer, enlarged prostate, regular treatment to get an answer pop up. That isn’t prostate cancer but could be found while looking at said enlarged prostate.

inks10 · 05/02/2024 19:44

Why wouldn't they say what type of cancer it is? Would it really make any difference? Surely better for them to be open and honest to avoid further speculation.

Speculation isn't obligatory, and TBH I'm a bit surprised they announced this at all given that he's been expected to take a period of recovery anyway

As said I'm sure we'll hear more when there's any news that needs to be shared

Didn’t Nostradamus predict this (and also predicted there will be King Harry)!

Ye gods! No!

januaryjan · 05/02/2024 20:12

Doseofreality · 05/02/2024 18:16

Yes, Google it. Harry King at the age of 38.

How does he leapfrog over William to become King?

I assumed George was next in line after William?

Harry is 39 years old?

Mad Ted.

Now Yashoda the Elephant, she was a fraud & a liar

OhmygodDont · 05/02/2024 20:13

My middle child wants king Willy because it sounds funny… so immature tut tut

Edited

George is in line after William. Charlotte and Louis after that.

Your middle child is an absolute corker!

Now I can't get that out of my head 😂

OhmygodDont · 05/02/2024 20:15

King Louis would be rather funny I think, not that I want his siblings or father to die…but then I used to think king Harry would be good now his grumpy like an old man.

mids2019 · 05/02/2024 20:15

@OhmygodDont

I was speculating bowel or bladder given proximity to the prostate or a distant met. If the staging was early would the palace bother with an announcement with presumably the ability to cover for a while?

Oh gosh ☹️ cancer is a ***, sadly I’ve had some family history there too. Glad the pain relief is working, best wishes for your DH and to you and all his loved ones too x

BBC are talking about the counsellors of State who are meant to step up if the king is unwell and it’s the 4 adults next in line , which sadly includes Harry and Andrew!

Apparently it doesn't have to be in accordance with the succession, Anne and Edward were made counsellors if State last year.

I don't think there's much else they can say except be positive.

They're never going to say anything other than good wishes, hope for a quick recovery or, if there's an announcement from BP that he's seriously unwell, thoughts and prayers.

An enlarged prostate is probably more common than not at his age, and I bet he got something like a full body MRI and all blood oncological markers just in case when admitted, because why not - so could be anything really. I don't think there's an inference.

I really hope he’s OK. Nice that the BBCsays that princes are speaking to him and seeing him in person. Maybe they can all put all the infighting behind them and live and let live a bit as a family now. I’m sure there’s been many wrongs on all sides but ultimately things might have been brought into perspective by ill health.

Also I hope Kate is OK, poor thing.

My first thought is that the situation adds a very unfortunate layer of pressure on Kate. Based on the official calendars she was one of the least active working RF members, as it transpires possibly because she was dealing with a long term health problem that led to the surgery. With the diagnosis secret and loads of unfounded speculation, the PR surrounding it all isn't great.

Now if William is expected to step up sooner rather than later, she'll be expected to undertake the absolute full schedule as Queen. At Charles' age even if the treatment is successful, it's not unrealistic that he might abdicate and hand things over to William.

An absolute curveball would be if Harry decides to divorce, return to the UK and resume his duties as working Royal. That takes some of the pressure away from the remaining members. He'll wash his hands of all the financial worries, security costs, creative flops and the pressure of having to produce high-budget, mass entertainment that he simply never had the training or experience for.

Inkanta · 05/02/2024 20:18

I hope Charles can recover from this and that he takes as long as he needs. By all accounts he should be able to retire at his age like everybody else and put his feet up. The rules for the sovereign need to be brought up to date with the times.

notthatthis · 05/02/2024 19:20

It's not prostate. His reign will be short.

I see 🤨
