How does hopping on a private jet to go to a concert, to go to a film help Travalyst's profile?

Fortunately for Harold Travalyst's profile seems to be resting at the moment and has been for some while.

As for the picture, is Harold wearing stacked heels or is that just an unfortunate shadow?!

JSMill · 27/01/2024 19:59

I remember reading somewhere that when Princess Diana first got engaged to Charles, she had no idea what to wear. When she got engaged, she and her mum went into Harrods and grabbed something off the rack for her engagement interview. She made a faux pas early on with a very low cut black dress. However she then approached someone at Vogue and they advised her about which designers to go to etc. Diana was an aristocrat whose family mixed in those circles and even she realised she needed advice.

Raincloudsonasunnyday · 27/01/2024 20:22

Personally I don’t think it much matters what Meghan wore in her 5 minutes as a working royal. Nothing was offensive or imprudent (other than cost-wise) or incorrect as such, it just wasn’t what royal women normally wear. Meh.

Seems to be like their website too and Archewell too.

mrsmingleton · 27/01/2024 20:42

@JSMill why would they fake a pic of Meghan doing that? I think it shows Meghan's lack of understanding of events like the Christmas Church event.

But I remember someone published a picture of the Queen wearing a very similar dress to the low cut one Diana wore!

Oh yes, both the late Queen and Princess Margaret both wore strapless dresses

But they didn't wear black, did they? The only pics I've seen where it looks as if the dress could be black is a B&W photo, so it could be some other dark colour

The fuss as the time was not that it was a low cut strapless dress - it was that it was black (something that then became part of the effectiveness of the later "revenge dress").

(Edited to add - googled a bit further and have now found one of Princess Margaret in what appears to be a black strapless Dior ballgown, but it also looks as if the picture was colourised, so not sure!)

mrsmingleton · 27/01/2024 20:56

Norman Hartnell did many off the shoulder and one shoulder dresses for Margaret and the Queen.

JSMill · 27/01/2024 21:09

My point was that Diana, even though coming from an aristocratic family, didn't think she was above asking for advice.
@mrsmingleton I don't really think the photo is fake, I just find it incredulous a grown woman would do that on such an occasion.

Singingseals · 27/01/2024 22:36

Tbf Lady Diana was wearing black dresses back in 1981, many years before the “revenge dress”

There's a clip of them entering the cinema that's going viral on Tiktok. The original one is from Sussex Squad on Instagram, and it pops up right away when you search Harry Meghan Jamaica on Twitter. You can see how wildly overdressed she was and struggled fitting the dress through a grubby cinema aisle. The floor of the cinema looked dirty and unswept, with no name signs on any of the seats. The other guests were dressed far more casually with a guy in a baseball cap a few rows behind and a lady in a cardigan/everyday outfit in the foreground.

The cinema also appeared 70% empty and the other guests just looked like totally normal people, which was odd. As VIP guests, it would have been far better protocol for them to have been the last ones in the room so that the seats are all full for photo ops. It seems terrible PR for a movie premiere to show H&M trying to squeeze into seats in the fourth row of a nearly empty theatre, as if they arrived 20mins too early and need to wait for the action to start.

Harry has a face like thunder the entire time. Social media speculating they were expecting better seats but to be honest it could have been anything. There's a second clip filmed in selfie style by two guests sitting one row ahead of them where you see her talk intensely to Harry, upon which he gets up and leaves. Could have just been asking him to get snacks but the entire thing was odd and abrupt. Surely they have assistants or contact people to do that.

JaneJeffer · 27/01/2024 23:36

I read that the VIPs were at a different screening and there was no room for H&M because they were invited at the last minute.

Supersimkin2 · 27/01/2024 23:51

Vips get there early for film premieres. Really early.

That’s cos they can have a pose, drink & chat at leisure - then whizz out the back door to dinner while everyone else trickles in cos they’ll have seen the film two years ago.

Distressing article in the MoS about African Parks, a charity for which H is on the board of directors after being President for 6 years. Trigger warning for anyone reading it (SA involved).

Gosh I’ve just read the article detailing some of the abuse and suffering. Horrendous.

Thunderbird7 · 28/01/2024 00:43

Absolutely awful, it was hard to read. I hope there’s an immediate investigation.

themessygarden · 28/01/2024 06:25

That is absolutely horrendous.

Thunderbird7 · 28/01/2024 09:04

I hope other outlets join with the Mail to pile on the pressure… it doesn’t sound like there was much imperative to act

Yes that has been widely reported .,

Mylovelygreendress · 28/01/2024 09:24

That article is deeply upsetting . Harry needs to make a statement and not a wish washy word salad one.

mrsmingleton · 28/01/2024 09:27

@User2356542 "snacks" 😂

mrsmingleton · 28/01/2024 09:34

I saw the article about the charity yesterday and the first thought that crossed my mind was that this is what happens when you are linked with a charity - fairly or unfairly your name is slapped up there. I thought this was maybe one where he started it and passed on but I believe he is a Director of this - whatever that involves, perhaps it is only his name on it as it were and no real role. Seemingly he has raised the matter , when I am not sure.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 28/01/2024 09:35

H’s work with African Parks was cited in the blurb to his legend of aviation award.

@User2356542 I've just seen that clip. Meghan had to adjust her skirt about 5 times before she sat down. It did seem a bit of a squish. I was wondering why they weren't in the front row if invited guests? I can only imagine her thoughts at that point in time.
