I haven’t had any sympathy for him since this whole sorry mess started. Today’s the first time. But then again I’m only a few years younger than the King and I’ve had a caught very early cancer diagnosis and I can remember the effect it had on my children. On all of us.

He’s being humiliated online and in the press but he’s taken it on the chin because all he wanted was to see his dad.

His visit needn't have been mentioned online or in the press at all if he hadn't announced it to the world. He could have made an entirely private visit and no-one would have known how long he spent at Clarence House, or that he was there at all.

As someone else said, had he mentioned it afterwards nobody would have known how long a meeting they had and he might have saved himself a few brickbats

@StrawberryJellyBelly I do understand your sympathy for Harry - on a basic human level it is all very sad - but I can't help feeling that some of what you have articulated is exactly the victimhood narrative that this episode was designed to elicit.

I also think that no matter how much we may want to do something, there are times when we really need to put our sensible head on. Given that the King is likely to be undergoing treatment for some time, I’m not sure why there was the need to zip across the pond as soon a the diagnosis was known. I’m sure the King was pleased to see him but on a practical level it’s a very long way for such a short visit. Given that the king’s situation is not critical, I would have thought it a far better idea to come over in a couple of weeks or so for a properly arranged visit of a few days at least. I think that would have come across as more thoughtful and less performative than the quick dash and go that took place

Quite, @smilesy Everyone is focussing on Harry's feelings. What about Charles's. He's the one who is ill. He could well be thinking, "Is that all I get from my son?" Will he be back if/when the King recovers?

Also, if the King has to get cancer or have his mother die for a visit from his son, he’s not going to have much of a life. If you want to see your dad, go and see him FGS. When he’s well, when he’s jolly, when he’s at his best. Not vulturelike, having done your best to slag everything off about him and his parenting. So much self pity and self interest in the visit.

it’s like funerals. Everyone can make it to the funeral somehow but how about turning up when they’re still alive? Technically more useful and more indicative of your affection.

Absolutely this. I’d he cared one jot for his father he wouldn’t have put him through the absolute shit show he created. He would have brought his children over regularly for a proper visit. He would have shown some love and care when his father lost his mother.

Don't be sore. I heard a rumour that the giant pussy party turned nasty fairly early on. Apparently, the giant ginger pussy started throwing his weight around which, needless to say, didn't go down very well with the other giant pussies and a fight ensued between the ginger one and one other. Fur was flying and the end result was a broken collar and an upended litter tray. Party over and it will be quite a while before giant ginger cat gets another invite 😉

😂@StormzyinaTCup The giant ginger pussy can't accept that the other one is Top Cat, and will always get the biggest cat bed and more tasty sticks than him. It's just the order of nature.

I don't think it was in any way unnecessary.

Hearing a parent has cancer, even if it's one which they're optimistic about, can rock your world.

If Harry waned to visit immediately, then it's absolutely right that he did, even if the actual time together was brief.

(and quite possible better early on, before more rounds of treatment take their toll on KC's immune system)

I appreciate I am sounding like a broken record but this isn’t about Harry ! It is not “ absolutely right” he visited . His father had just had a cancer diagnosis and had started potentially brutal treatment. Speaking from experience it can take a few days to let a cancer diagnosis sink in and treatment can be very difficult . Family and friends need to take their cues from the person dealing with the illness not how THEY feel.,

@Mylovelygreendress It warrants repeating. This is not and never should be about what anyone wants, or what anyone feels they are entitled to, other than the patient.

Why is Tom Cruise there for goodness sake? He often seems to be hanging around at Royal events. It’s just creepy.

He's a helicopter pilot himself and apparently likes to support the Air Ambulance.

TC is a bit weird and creepy, but he is also a long term supporter of LAA, helecopter pilot and Hollywood superstar - if he brings in the wonga for London Air Ambulance, his presence is absolutely wonderful in my book. He’s spent many, many months in his career filming in and aroundLondon and the north London film studios, so it’s not unusual for him to have an affinity for the place.

I did not recognise TC immediately in the photo with William. William looks like he has lost a few lbs, he is going through a really stressful time,

Reports today that Harry 'took it upon himself' to visit Charles, which isn't surprising.
