Yes he made sure everyone was aware of the fact he was going and when.

and the palace played a blinder again. The 45 min meeting before Charles publicly and visibly leaves shows once again, this was all Harry and totally unnecessary

They’ve either played a blinder, or played into the victim optics H was looking for. His air miles must be looking healthy though, he’s hardly ever off a plane these days.

According to the news this morning , he stayed in a hotel . Also said he would have been “ happy “ to meet with William .
So …… you cause deep distress to your supposed loved ones then breeze in as if nothing has happened!? Pretty sure he will return to LA and we will soon hear how upset he was that the red carpet wasn’t rolled out for him !

wildernesssw · 07/02/2024 09:07

I bet he takes in all the neighbours’ Amazon parcels.
😂

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 07/02/2024 09:10

@Mylovelygreendress Oh here we go. Harry so upset brother won't see him. Bitter and twisted William making father unhappy be refusing to reconcile with Harry. William prevents Harry visiting the sister he never had, Catherine. Bitter Catherine won't let William see Harry. Harry prevented from seeing niece and nephews, and he brought them gifts from their cousins, how cruel. Yada, yada, yada, spin spin spin.

Everyone is a dick apart from Harry.

I know that Harry wasn't an academic (and no shame in that) and that it was rumoured his art teacher had to help a bit too much to get him a B at A level...

But can he really be so bone-headed to think that William or Catherine, or Anne, or Camilla, Sophie and Edward will ever want to be in the same room as him again? Surely even he can't be that deluded. Charles is his father - who no doubt is haunted by guilt about Harry's mother's life and death and is a sentimental old guy at the best of times - will feel differently. He'll be angry and very, very hurt by H & M's behaviour but he'll make up with Harry on a personal level. But I think William and Catherine would resign from the job if forced into a rapprochement with Harry and Meghan, and I wouldn't blame them. He'll get very short shrift from Anne. No-one will want to be alone with him/them again.

I guess, if the marriage fails, Harry will return at least part-time to the UK and be allowed to live privately and quietly somewhere. But he can never rejoin the RF, I think, even if he wanted to which I very much doubt. There's only a chance of a slight thaw in relationships with the family if he splits from Meghan.

Just my thoughts, before anyone dives in and asks how I KNOW this. Clearly I don't.

wildernesssw · 07/02/2024 09:29

I think he has always been protected - people whose job it was to try to prevent him from doing anything seriously destructive, and then people whose job it was to deal with the consequences and try to manage his image.

And he hated them, called them the 'men in grey suits' plus various personal demeaning nicknames.

And now he doesn't have them any more, can do whatever he chooses, but is discovering that choices have consequences.

CoffeeCantata · 07/02/2024 09:30

Absolutely - and there's the problem in a nutshell. Any contact H or M have with the family will be utilised as raw material for their ongoing grudge bearing. They've run out at the moment and need a bit more stuff.

Yes - both sides are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. H would have been criticised for not coming over (though personally I think he should have phoned and arranged a mutually convenient time, not just rushed over regardless of what Charles's schedule was) and the RF would be criticised either for snubbing him (which we don't know is what happened) or for welcoming him.

jeffgoldblum · 07/02/2024 09:32

Honestly @wildernesssw , I think he's been surrounded by yes men ( and women!) , stroking his ego and applauding his every utterance for so long that he has no idea that he isn't actually that great or intelligent!

Mylovelygreendress · 07/02/2024 09:36

@CoffeeCantata some shrewd observations.

Slumberlands · 07/02/2024 09:37

I think this is exactly what’s going on . He’s already orchestrating the narrative. It’s nauseating.

Serenster · 07/02/2024 09:40

Stay tuned for Omid’s next post - I’m sure he’ll be pulling on one of those threads…

Slumberlands · 07/02/2024 09:41

Someone is putting out the ‘William won’t see me’ narrative already.Along with the ‘I had to stay in a HOTEL cos Pa wouldn’t put me up at Windsor ‘ .

CathyorClaire · 07/02/2024 09:51

What’s Scobie complaining about?

Mainly being cut out of the favoured hack pool.

There was a very intriguing reference to the apparently magnificently performing investments Harold's made but infuriatingly he stops at that.

JSMill · 07/02/2024 10:18

H surely knew before he got on that plane that his df wouldn't be able to spare much time for him at the last minute. We all know how tight the monarch's schedule is. So either H is desperate to be back in the fold and will take any small amount of attention or he just wanted to insert himself in the story.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 07/02/2024 10:31

It could be either or both, @JSMill . I haven't a doubt that Harry must have a load of conflicting emotions at the moment. He's angry, but still loves his dad. He wants to visit, but knows that he can generate interest and possibly much needed income if he makes it public knowledge. He would like to not be excluded from the narrative, but there's no way for him to get into the narrative without coming under suspicion, and that's entirely a situation of his own making. He wants bridges built in his direction, but has built none back himself in the opposite direction. He's sucking the oxygen out of the room, but wants everyone to breathe easily in his presence. And that they don't or can't, and make moves to protect themselves, makes him once again the victim in the narrative he has built against them.

Frankly the only surprise is that he was ever in it

I know that particular "profession" trawls some strange fish, but some of them at least TRY for objectivity

wildernesssw · 07/02/2024 07:58

Like the absolute insistence William didn't visit Catherine, the evidence being there were no photographs, that it would have been impossible for him to get into the building without being papped...

Because obviously a hospital with a high proportion of patients who are rich and famous wouldn't have discreet access available when needed!

That, and the fact that Catherine was able to be discharged home without 1 single solitary photo or anyone seeing her leave the building. Despite the hospital apparently being absolutely surrounded by paps and no entrance/exit not in full public view. 🙄

RhubarbGingerJam · 07/02/2024 11:04

One of the new items I read said King Charles delayed the helicopter that landed in London to take him to Norfolk for an hour - so it does sound like Harry had to be squeezed in and that King Charles made sure he saw him.

JSMill · 07/02/2024 11:10

He wants bridges built in his direction, but has built none back himself in the opposite direction.
Love this analysis.

themessygarden · 07/02/2024 11:25

I think the announcement from the office of the Duke and Duchess, was another misstep. He could have quietly arrived, saw his dad and announced afterwards that he had visited his father, it would have appeared more genuine, plus no one would have realised how brief the visit was.

I think it was possibly a PR knee-jerk reaction in advance of the start of the Invictus promotion.

Maerchentante · 07/02/2024 11:26

I can almost imagine Harry not giving his family any notice before flying out and sending a 2024 version of a "Arriving tomorrow at xyz hour" telegram without giving them the option to decline.

themessygarden · 07/02/2024 11:30

I very much doubt Charles could have said 'don't come yet, i'm starting treatment, wait a bit' for fear of how Harry would have used that to spin another negative story.

JSMill · 07/02/2024 11:31

The office of the Duke and Duchess. When will they finally accept they have no official role and just act like the normal people they are?

Think it might just be Scobie in the office 😂
