Yes unfortunately Harry has managed to
make this all about himself again. I’m glad he wants to see his father and maybe he thinks this is a good opportunity to see him when it isn’t a state occasion. However, on much of the news yesterday, he was mentioned as flying over. Why is his visit so important that it needs announcing? I’m sure he’s far from the only person concerned for the King. I don’t like to be cynical about his motives but unfortunately he has form. Also he managed not to see the late Queen before she died even though he was in the UK and the cynic in me can’t help thinking that some of his motivation is not to do the same thing twice (although I don’t think the King is anywhere near close to dying)

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 06/02/2024 09:40

I have no idea if Scobie tweeted before it hit the news media (people magazine etc), but it’s the stories about Harry, and the posts on here about Harry, that is making this about Harry.

Just about every Royal Story somehow or other ends up being about Harry and/or Meghan.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 06/02/2024 09:49

Well @LittleTeawithmilk1 why do you think that might be? Could it be that they and their friends have spent the last 3 years monetising their petty grievances against and throwing unsubstantiated and serious accusations at the RF in all manner of media vehicles; whilst building a public profile for themselves based solely upon their royal connections to a family they purport to revile because they have nothing else to give? Or do you think everyone is looking at them for no reason whatsoever?

It still doesn’t change that nearly every royal story ends up somehow being about Harry and/or Meghan.

People are making a choice. If people stopped reading and commenting, the media would stop publishing.

Gottseidank · 06/02/2024 11:18

Harry and Meghan are like a carcrash that people can help but glance across at.

Bravo 👏 @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar!
I had to scold and point out to some posters last night , the ghoulish and frankly disgusting " king Harry and queen Meghan , bring it on " posts, were basically , wishing the death of Charles , William and the three children!

I am going to be generous and hope against the odds that H realises what he’s lost these last few years and just leave them all alone after this. Which includes any plan to try to monetise this latest turn of events. His dad will no doubt continue to love him and forgive him for what he’s done. He should, that’s his son and Charles has to hold some accountability for the man Harry turned into. Hopefully Harry is mature enough to handle the situation without making it all about himself.

Camilla and William (and Catherine) - I think Harry needs to do a lot more than just turning up with fanfares from his spokes-lickspittle to win them over. And frankly, they have enough to do without having him demanding their time and brain space too. Charles has all the right people around him looking after him, I’m sure, nothing for Harry to worry about other than having a nice visit with his Pa.

That is indeed generous, though maybe a little over-optimistic?
It also leaves out William's possible take on things, which we can't know but which is likely to be significant as he moves closer to the throne

As for Scobie, I thought he said he was giving up royal commentary after the latest book nosedived (?) but I doubt anyone will be surprised if further news about Charles makes its way to him

I’d love to be pointed to the statements made by spokespeople for other royal family members telling us they are planning/have already been to see Charles following his diagnosis.

If you’ve seen them(because I’ve only seen the one, from Harry) please do share them.

(People issues statements directly to the press because they want to be written about).

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/02/2024 11:51

Why is his visit so important that it needs announcing?

Equally, why has nobody else publicised their intention to visit?

Maybe - just maybe - they feel it's more appropriate to arrange these things privately, and that announcing them simply isn't necessary?

ajandjjmum · 06/02/2024 12:21

I was interested to see a photo of Beatrice and Edo leaving Clarence House this morning. Wonder if she might have been asked to step up while the King is receiving treatment?

jeffgoldblum · 06/02/2024 12:35

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar , tell me about it!!!
I was reading it ..... both fingers in ears , going la,la,la,la,la and I'm still raging 😤, the only reason I'm not commenting is because I know it will be an expletive laden explosion worthy of deleting!

The display of utter hypocrisy is something to behold!

ArcaneWireless · 06/02/2024 13:20

I think it would be a sensible move for H&M to disassociate themselves from OS.

I don’t think their association has done them any favours.

jeffgoldblum · 06/02/2024 13:22

Your right arc! , however horses and stable doors come to mind!
