The D of E knew both Wallis and Meghan, so if that was his observation, who is anyone who didn’t/don’t know them to question his informed opinion? An opinion Seward is clear the Queen didn’t share, she was very keen on MM - at the start, anyway.
WRT the white dress, the late Queen’s an old school opinion, but hardly an outlandish one, and nobody stopped MM wearing exactly what she wanted, so I don’t see any issue with the Queen having had an opinion. It’s not as if MM respected the Queen’s values or felt bound by them, absolutely no harm to MM at all. She could have made quite the statement with a coloured dress - showing the world that modern royal brides can acknowledge that they are grown ups with past relationships and don’t need to pretend to be ingenue virgins.
Interesting to read (according to the author) how close Harry was to his dad, whereas it was William who was the mummy’s boy. That narrative has certainly changed.
