Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spotted out and about, part 3

Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

@Roussette no . She looks exactly what she is - a middle aged woman.,

JSMill · 23/02/2024 22:18

Yes she looks like a woman in her 40s but there's nothing wrong with that.

Coronateachingagain · 23/02/2024 23:16

mrsmingleton · 23/02/2024 00:10

That's for sure.

These shoes are not good for her bunions. Generally she wears shoes that are not good for her condition.

Just saw Bob Marley One Love, and I can get why H&M were happy to fly to Jamaica invited by the CEO of Paramount Pictures to support it, alongside the Marley family who were so involved with it.

Ignore the critics, it’s a pleasant watch! Good acting (nice to see British actors Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lashana Lynch, James Norton and an uncharacteristically chubby Micheal Ward), nice screenplay, outstanding… music (duh)… and of course the incredible story of the world’s GOAT reggae artist - even if a little airbrushed.

Though I was a bit disappointed, as the credits got to “Produced by…”, to see the words “Brad Pitt” instead of “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” (yeah Brad, give’er a chance, will yer?)

Guess we’ll have to wait a couple of more years for Meg’s first movie, given the clues that that might be one of the places she’s headed to… or maybe months?

😅 I can also understand why - image publicity maybe? They were not that happy with those seats though, the Paramount team let them down.
She was also overdressed and too pompous for the occasion.
Overall not one of their best appearances. Not sure the photoshoots were worth it although you can be in and out by private jet very easily so I am sure they were not that inconvenienced, especially if you can make a free holiday out of it.

skullbabe · 24/02/2024 07:38

Repeating something as fact does not in fact make it so. There are examples of how other people were dressed earlier in the thread (the politicians, the partner of the Paramount exec, the stars, the Marley family). She was dressed appropriately for the occasion. It would have disrespectful for her to have attended the event in less formal wear.

Would have loved to have seen the movie this half term but alas have been too busy. I think we will see how the foray into drama will go for Meghan as a producer - it’s a tough slog but only time will tell.

@skullbabe you are right , there were other people formally dressed however they watched the film in the VIP room whereas H and M were in among very casually dressed people . Meghan kind of stood out sitting in front of a man in a baseball cap !

mrsmingleton · 24/02/2024 10:36

Why were they not in the VIP room?

Why were they not in the VIP room?

I read ( can’t remember where) that it was full . That H and M were a late addition to the guest list so they were in the cheap seats.

Indeed. From what we’ve seen so far Meghan definitely has a creative streak, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset aligned with her values. It’ll be fascinating to watch what she invests her energies in. Women-led initiatives seems to be a thread, from choosing Lemonada for her podcast to supporting Clevr Brands or the Welcome Project to yesterday’s announcement that she’s supporting Rethink, a female-founded anti-cyber bullying and mental health app.

“Innovator, social entrepreneur and global advocate Trisha is the creator of the award-winning Rethink technology, an app which detects and stops cyberbullying at its source, by suggesting a user pauses and rethinks their online language and behaviour. It’s now in use in 136 nations.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were so impressed by Trisha's work that their Archewell Foundation chose Rethink as one of the online safety projects to help fund and personally phoned Trisha to talk about her ground-breaking projects.”

Another great example of a cause championed by H&M!

How so? I don’t think we have seen anything creative nor entrepreneurial. Not knocking her, but I’m just not clued into what makes you say this.

AliceOlive · 24/02/2024 12:47

Ah that’s an another of those gushy SheKnows articles brought to us by yahoo. Second one in a few days. There’ll be a reason for that. Poorly written, also.

Trisha Prabhu is creative and entrepreneurial. And it’s admirable to support people who have those qualities.

😅 where do I start

From "choosing" Lemonada for her projects - insert "after being dumped by Spotify for lack of talent to produce interesting content"

She is really a very ambitious lady but unfortunately not a lot of "talent" to show for.

skullbabe · 24/02/2024 13:13

H&M were in the same room as some politicians, the Marleys and the same row as the Paramount exec and his wife. As you can see from the picture that Harry went to talk to Rita Marley in the same room before the movie started. You can also see from the picture below that there is a wide variety of dress. So again - she was appropriately dressed, the person videoing her taking her seat was dressed in an evening gown too, people also can attend premieres dressed down.

Appropriately dressed😀 --a picture worth more than a thousand words. and Harry thinking oh those seats hmmmm
Must be quite tiring and stressful to have to be constantly grifting and have nothing to show for (except the use of use medieval inherited titles).

As an aside - I think that Trisha Prabhu is an amazing woman. Watch this space!

I think the app is a great idea - something schools should be promoting!

Well spotted, talented and entrepreneurial Meghan!!

(mega-Meghan, even!) 🤣

Why is she talented and entrepreneurial to support this initiative?

Is it not a charitable donation from Archewell (or have they bought shares in the business?).

The talent seems to be the app developer?

@kirinm is that a rhetorical question or a question for mois? 😀 just saying she over dressed, plus it must have been really uncomfortable to go around with the skirt in a cinema 😅

mrsmingleton · 24/02/2024 17:50

@Coronateachingagain Harry knew he was in for a bollocking later on!

We had this exact same conversation over 10 pages ago and the same things were said then. The intent of this and other posters like them is to generally be persistently negative in a positive space because it’s sport to them. It’s no fun being snarky in an echo chamber where everyone shares the same opinion so they come here. There are three threads that are active right now where they can criticise them without much pushback to their hearts content. And yet here they are. Anyway - we push on.

so true @skullbabe. And according to some, blatantly ignoring these posters, especially those who have proven to be less than credible, is considered "having shut down a thread" 😂. Evidently age does not seem to equal maturity. It's sad if not laughable at times.

No matter, how people conduct themselves even online, says a lot about them. Anyway back to the thread
