What speculation do you mean then?

There are some MNers obsessed that the Princess of Wales must have an eating disorder, I thought they’d have been on by know with their smugness and ‘proof’

berksandbeyond · 17/01/2024 14:41

It’ll be a hysterectomy. She will have a longer period of recuperation in hospital because 1) it’s a private hospital and 2) she’s the future queen ffs

Flatulence · 17/01/2024 14:41

Ten to 14 days in hospital to recover from surgery is a long time - even in the context of private healthcare where (to a certain extent) they'd like to keep you in as long as possible because of the £££. That's especially so for an otherwise very fit person in their early 40s and who has access to extensive help at home.
Whatever procedure she has had, it must be a fairly major one. It's not helpful to speculate the what or the why, but I do hope she makes a speedy recovery. No matter how rich you are, major surgery is tough on the body and mind and being in hospital for so long (even in a very posh one) is never easy.

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 14:42

Ahhh no she's not anorexic she's sporty and has a good metabolism. If she's lost weight it's likely as a result of whatever's made her ill

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 17/01/2024 14:42

And planned doesn’t necessarily mean planned weeks in advance

I had ‘planned’ surgery on a Wednesday after being diagnosed Sunday night

Citrusandginger · 17/01/2024 14:42

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

I fully appreciate the hypocrisy of posting on this thread, but does the palace usually put out statements with quite the same tone of "and no questions you nosey buggers".

Regardless, I wish her a good recovery.

museumum · 17/01/2024 14:43

In that kind of hospital i don't suppose she 'has to' stay in that long like any of us in an NHS bed. She'll be getting care and attention and probably physio and support to recover that normal people don't get.

Tetchypants · 17/01/2024 14:43

Gotta be a gastric band??

MotherOfHouseplants · 17/01/2024 14:43

The juxtaposition.

yes, I was thinking hysterectomy but 2 weeks is a long time to be in hospital😟

She will get better and more careful treatment than you or I would receive.

dollybird · 17/01/2024 14:43

Alohapotato · 17/01/2024 14:34

Could be appendicitis, hernia etc

My DH was in and out the same day with his hernia

KarenNotAKaren · 17/01/2024 14:44

Although my favourite piece of speculation is not on MN but on Twitter that “It’s all the stress Meghan has put her under” LOL!

Meghan must be so happy to add to her list of accidental achievements, that she has hospitalised the Princess of Wales all the way from California! Well done Meg

😂😂

BobnLen · 17/01/2024 14:44

Hysterectomy is usually about 3 months recovery isn't it, I can't think of anything else that is, other stuff is usually 6 weeks.

JaniceBattersby · 17/01/2024 14:45

Very much enjoying the breathtaking hypocrisy of the posters here sneering at the press for invading her privacy (which they haven’t done, and won’t, given Royal medical info is a red line) while speculating on what’s wrong with Kate on a website with circa 8 million users.

purplerainbows88 · 17/01/2024 14:39

Could be cosmetic - after 3 kids who would blame her!

That's what it is, she's away to Turkey to get a mummy makeover, new teeth and some sun hence the 14 days 😁

TokyoSushi · 17/01/2024 14:46

I'd imagine that she will be out sooner and then the story that she's doing better than expected and there's nothing to worry about can continue. Hopefully it is just something fairly big but routine like a hysterectomy.

Depends if open or laparoscopic
The latter can be as quick as 3 weeks

Thunderbird7 · 17/01/2024 14:47

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/01/2024 14:36

If they wanted privacy they shouldn’t have announced it. No one would have noticed (or cared much) if she disappeared for two weeks.

not true - I already saw one of the anti Kate trolls complaining she was lazy for not doing engagements this week, prior to the announcement

I think I've just seen that very post 🙈

falafelover · 17/01/2024 14:47

I just wish the rest of us had access to such good medical care, rather than being turfed out of hospital almost immediately.

Maybe when she's recovered, she could campaign for better healthcare for us plebs? Would be nice.

itsnotabouthepasta · 17/01/2024 14:48

I suspect after the issue with the journalist phoning the hospital when she was pregnant with George and that poor nurse, the Palace are making a clear point to the press with their pointed comment, "her wish that her personal medical information remains private."

I hope that she has a smooth recovery - whatever the circumstances, 10-14 days is a LONG time to be in hospital, so clearly it was serious.

WashedUpHasBeen · 17/01/2024 14:48

yeah, bet she is offered more than paracetamol too🙄

The RF don’t campaign, they kiss babies, become patrons and give speeches
