Ok. Yes. I can do my own googling.
Actually Lilibet Stern did not come up but Lilibet Foster did.

Then you’ve found another one, either way it only further proves the point that this name is not just a nickname for the late Queen.

Regardless, it’s old fashioned.

It's very much in the retro/cute/characters from picture books, style of names that have been fashion.
Archie is in the same style.

As are the Lily-Mays, the Alfie's, the Teddies, and the Poppies.

They obvioulsy thought this was a 'unique' and special version of the theme.

TheOnlyOneInTheMNVillage · 15/01/2024 17:56

Of course I’m being sarcastic. It’s daft to expect other people to do your running around for you because you can’t be bothered (not you obviously).

I don't expect you to run around.
I thought you had knowledge that you could quickly add. My mistake.

Laiste · 15/01/2024 17:57

I think for me the weirdest thing about it is that it's not a name.

It's like calling a child Plinky-Plonky or something.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/01/2024 16:28

The DM is printing excerpts from Robert Hardman’s new book .

Yes but Robert Hardman knows Jack shit about the Queen in all honesty. Best case scenario he’s interviewed someone who says they think the Queen was probably pissed off over it. I think she was far more sensible and classy to make her feelings on the subject known to anyone.

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2024 17:58

I think that @Maireas merely asked you for a surname not a biography @TheOnlyOneInTheMNVillage which would take seconds to type.

I don't know why people get so cranky on these threads. If you were having a RL conversation would you snap at some to google something?

CremeEggThief · 15/01/2024 17:58

Brazen is your opinion, OP. Not a fact. There is a difference.

Ah come on now @TheOnlyOneInTheMNVillage

Thank you 🙏.
I don't know why people are so rude on here.

I saw the papers in a shop today and was surprised that was the main headline for some. You wouldn't think that would be the main news.

Well quite. I read several news sources and the DM - if you relied just on the DM for news you’d have very little understanding of what’s happening that might pact your life but a very unhealthy interest in Megan and Harry’s life.

It’s truly odd the level of hatred the DM have towards them. They are just people.

There are wars happening. Cost of living crisis. Climate emergency. We’ve just attacked Yemen. We are in the most unstable period of time since the last WW. But let’s focus on this one couple that have zero impact on our lives whatsoever.

Insane!

OK good point they're probably huge fans of Lilibet Stern so named her after her.

Or, they'd never heard of Lilibet Stren and like 99% of people only know of Lilibet as a personal pet name for the Queen. Who they had a strained realstionship with.

I didn’t snap, you read it that way. I said it lightheartedly and was then sarcastic. And yeah if someone was sat in front of me with the same information I had and was asking me to do it for them I would tell them to do it themselves.

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/01/2024 18:00

Saying that even though I don’t believe he knows what the Queen thought I also think he’s probably put 2+2 and correctly come up with 4. But I don’t think he should be writing a book like it’s 100% gospel.

https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0827770/

You can do your own Googling you know?

That says she was born in 1960, it might have been decades ago but the Queen was an adult, a mother and a crowned Queen by then so doesn't mean it was a name before the Queen acquired it as a nickname when she was a young child.

I didn’t say that they didn’t, I said they named her after her. I simply said it is a separate name, not just a nickname for the late queen that has never been heard of anywhere else before.

Again, I didn’t say that. I just said it was a name used elsewhere.

I thought you already had additional knowledge.

I always thought it was odd they essentially copied Charlotte's name hers is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana they name their child lilibet (derived from Elizabeth) Diana just struck me as unoriginal

You think it odd and unoriginal he named his daughter after his beloved dead mother?

How have you not heard of Lilibet Stern??

If they'd had a third they might have called him Sharmlee aftre Charles. That would have been so cute and wonedrful for the grandad that never sees them.

Thak goodness they decided to save the planet by not having a third.

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2024 18:03

Ok @TheOnlyOneInTheMNVillage but I personally find that approach to conversation unnecessary but you do you as they say

True, and I think it’s natural for Harry to want to cement his connection to his beloved grandmother, given the gradual rift.

Well, it is the Mail, which is known for barrel-scraping. I saw it online earlier and thought, "As if".

It's ridiculous that the late Queen was angry about this.

MinorInconvenience · 15/01/2024 18:07

Umcanijustsay · 15/01/2024 16:36

When I first read that the Harkles had named their child Lilibet I did have an instinctive sense of cringe. I can't explain why, but it felt wrong.

The term Harkle makes me cringe

OfficerChurlish · 15/01/2024 18:07

So - (1) she gave her blessing, (2) she felt she "wasn't in a position to say no", and (3) she privately expressed anger afterwards (but apparently never TO Harry, directly or indirectly). These three things, whether true are not, aren't contradictory. But there's no evidence of any of them and no one alive who can reliably set the record straight.

All that can happen now is that a three year old will grow up feeling confused over a connection with the great grandmother she never really knew.

This isn't useful or helpful "news" for anyone except the dude making a buck.

Laiste · 15/01/2024 18:07

MalagaNights - How have you not heard of Lilibet Stern??

God i don't know! I'm so embarrassed!
There was silly me assuming it was after the Queen, who was famous for being known by that name about 30 years before Stern was born ...
