Giving someone a very personal family name is usually a sign of respect and love.

I personally find that sentiment hard to reconcile with H&M's behaviour in the last years of HMQ's life.

Regardless of HMQ's feelings on the matter I found it crass at the time and still do.

They've saddled their daughter with a name that for many people symbolises their hypocrisy in denigrating the royal family/monarchy whilst simultaneously cashing in on their links to it. I don't think that's respectful to HMQ or kind to their child - oh the irony of H and talk of "generational trauma"....

I'm not an avid monarchist and think a lot of reform is needed - but holding up H&M as some kind of paragons of virtue in this whole debacle just isn't consistent with their words and actions (and frankly many, many mistruths and inconsistencies in their PR narrative).

As has been said before, it was reported that they would just call her Lili.

Easy for a little girl to manage, fine to also take forward into adult life. A lovely name in my opinion. (Far nicer than mine)

None of us know the real reason for using that full version of her name or indeed if it was ever discussed.

Although there certainly seems to have been a few Lilibets over the passage of time, it does seem unusual to give her a name that was only ever used as a name for one particular person within their fairly large family - and even then, only ever called that by certain members.

Lili would have just been lovely as it was. If Archie was fine as a given and as an everyday name - rather than Archibald - I wonder why Lili wasn’t.

Who knows how many of us will still be on the go when Lili embarks on her adult life.

I would be very surprised if she were to use Lilibet. Which again begs the question, why not just Lili?

Wow what a fucked up family.

Wow what a fucked up family.

yep, my response too. Especially her children needing to make an appointment and only getting 15 - 30 minutes at a time. If it is true.

No wonder so many of them are a bit of mess. What a bunch. I’m almost feel sorry for them.

AliceOlive · 16/01/2024 02:58

To be read in the voice of Lady Violet:

We aren’t allowed to feel sorry for any children here, dear.

AliceOlive · 16/01/2024 02:59

By the way, did everyone else know that Maggie Smith was smoking hot? Because I never looked at photos of her before now.

AliceOlive · 16/01/2024 03:08

On a separate note, I think it’s a lovely name. I don’t like talking about people’s names anyway but this one is quite sweet. Bit unusual but not too much.

Everything will be fine, these kids are growing up in LA (I understand montecito is not LA but you get my point) amongst children named things like Walnut or Apple or Waldorf or the place they were conceived.

And for our friend who mentioned their parents being narcissists, well if that’s true they will be in good company and therapy is almost a requirement of US citizenship anyway.

They won’t be any more challenged than most people posting right here on this forum, is my point. (You and me excluded, of course, though I do sometimes worry about you.)

BrittleVeneers · 16/01/2024 03:15

I remember seeing her in a movie called The Prime of Mrs Jean Broadie. I’m old, but not old enough to see it when it was released but saw it on tv later. Yes, she was hot

I wonder how that movie has aged?

BrittleVeneers · 16/01/2024 03:17

Has media harassing, and bullying, of Harry and Meghan gone on long enough yet?

This recycled story is ridiculous.

Dustyblue · 16/01/2024 03:44

Quitelikeit · 15/01/2024 16:31

Honestly op do you work for some PR agency?!

No one is interested in this rubbish

I tend to agree with you... but 500-odd posts in, it seems we're wrong about the level of interest.

Newchapterbeckons · 16/01/2024 05:18

It’s not so much ‘interest’ but disgust.

There are photos everywhere of Lili (bet) I can’t see Harry has done anything to protect his children - especially given their choice to move to LA of all places! Take ( and fail) a multi million $ contract with Netflix involving said children, and his decision to write about his shrivelled penis.

This's is NOT a couple looking for a quiet life away from the media glare! They have actively worked to try and obtain more attention- who can forget the ‘car chase’ that never happened in NY.

A pair of zombie narcissists plotting to make as much cash as they can from their now distant connection to the royal family is neither good parenting nor admirable.

That's interesting. I've seen one single photo on her first birthday, I haven't a clue what she looks like now. Ditto Archie. And I doubt you do

Whatever you say the media is not plastered with pictures of them, H&M do very well at protecting them and they will be much loved little children

Yet again a poster determined to diagnose them as narcissists. Horrible. Hope you feel better for that.

MissTrip82 · 16/01/2024 07:02

No idea what the Queen actually thought but I find it very very difficult to believe she’d be so open about a private family matter with an employee. Or that a woman who’d lived for so long and seen so much would actually be truly angry - to the point she’d share her anger with an employee - about something so trivial.

I always feel comfortable with honesty, and honestly I find their parenting disgraceful and damaging. I am astonished they could put their children through this. Harry’s book, the interview - the children will see all of this one day in the near future. It’s the children that will have to live with their toxic legacy. Another broken and damaged generation

Harry could have avoided all of this with his money and connections, but he choose not to, he picked revenge over good parenting.

Roussette · 16/01/2024 07:15

Oh don't be so silly, their parenting is not disgraceful and damaging. That's just a statement from someone who doesn't like them and is stirring the pot. They are quite obviously loving and caring parents, and YOU are very wrong and, in fact very mean, labelling two little children as being a damaged and broken generation.

I cannot believe the nastiness on this thread about two children. Leave them alone

Do they have to book in a 15 minute slot to see their mum?

I have no idea. I don’t suppose the children signed a consent form to be catapulted onto the world stage in less than perfect circumstances.

Nor happy to take second place to the greedy need for money, attention and limelight required by their parents to bankroll a jet set lifestyle.

The children have not been considered at all - their early years overshadowed by such horrible events like the Oprah interview. All of it has been entirely unnecessary and motivated by revenge.

We will have to agree to disagree. On any other thread this would be called damaging and bad parenting. This is no different.

I don't suppose the windsor children did either.

Frasers · 16/01/2024 07:58

The claim from this book is being published everywhere, inc in the USA, and being widely commented on across all major social media platforms. And overwhelmingly the vast majority of comments are very negative to Harry and megan naming their daughter lillibet, both in terms of the crassness of doing it in the first place, and supporting the queens reported feelings about it. The fact a small minority don’t believe it, doesn’t change that.

its just more negativity about them, on top of so many other things, the interviews, the book, misleading people, like on offering to pay for security, or working for Dior, or the car chase, too many to recount now.

if the queen did give permission and was happy about this, then harry and Megan will take legal action, they are hugely litigious, as this is majorly reputation damaging, to an already damaged nearly beyond repair reputation. If they don’t, then it would validate its true.

as said before, I suspect they will threaten at most, as for everyone to be publishing they must feel the sources are bulletproof, and the last thing Harry and Megan will want is that proven in court.

An employee? You obviously don't know what it is like to live with others ( non family) close to you day in and out.
