And probably good advice to anyone whose life changes significantly very quickly - for positive reasons as well as tragic.

Gardeningtime · 20/01/2024 10:07

I do wonder what’s next for them.

Spotify dropped them. Quite ignobaly , with the podcast exec calling them fucking grifters and then it coming to light Megan didn’t even bother doing her own interviews and faked it, and Harry bizzarely thinking he could interview the Pope, putin and trumps on their childhoods.

the stories on what they are doing with Netflix, Africa, great expectations etc have all stopped, and it does appear Netflix is out. Rumours came out from Netflix staff they were a nightmare to work with and one of the execs saying they didng know what they were thinking throwing so much money at them.

dior publicly said they weren’t going to work with them.

they have failed to do anything substantive with archewell, in fact the opposite, they do one hour a week each on it, and rumours abound about dodgey finances, anx the feeling they are using it to pay wider costs.

Megan signing with a major agency, likely to get some work if Netflix was out, and nothing coming of that either, rumours coming out from Hollywood love her, which seems unlikely, to the agency is considering dropping her too.

so what does that leave them, invictus and rights to one book?

they must be burning through money with all Harry’s law suits. And the only time we see them is at some awards ceremony or being papped.

it does feel like their dream of being a list celebs earning their own money is over. No one wants to work with them, so where do they go from here?

Maireas · 20/01/2024 10:12

They're going to have to reconnect with the royals for their brand. That's the golden connection. They could visit the King and have some photos with the children.
Charles would always welcome him back, and would no doubt love to see the grandchildren.
Otherwise, I don't know what they have to sell, unless Meghan has something special in the pipeline?

You’re right, that’s what they need but I think the palace no longer allows them to take photographs or take a photographer. Any photos are taken by the palace as it means they can’t use them, as they are owned by rhe palace and they own the rights.

so I guess it’s something like sandringham at Xmas, where they would be photographed with the royals, but seems the palace is wise, and is not allowing that either.

it feels like Charles would absolutely permit a private visit, love one, to see the grandkids, but will not permit anything to take place that could be used for commercial gain.

this war with the press harry has undertaken is also backfiring hugely, other than the hacking case, where it was a wider class litigation and he won on only 8 of his 22 claims, it’s just costing him a fortune and bad publicity,

if the royal family won’t let him use them for commercial gain, I genuinely can’t see what’s left for them.

You can say what you like about Meghan.

The lass is so screwed on, she cannot go any more righty tighty.

Lefty loosey lippies there having a poke at the very person who (I think I read) allegedly nominated him for the award.

She may love the bones of him but it isn’t fine being aaaaht on the tahhhhn with someone arrogant.

Smart woman staying at home.

Like a socially aware Dalek. Disassociate disassociate ….

Clever.

He just comes across as such a snidey surly knob.

And I’ve no doubt she has got a belter of a book in that journal…

Maireas · 20/01/2024 10:35

@ArcaneWireless - I have heard that Meghan has a book in preparation. I think it could be very interesting.....

Indeed Maireas. It could be quite the read.

It is possible though that the costs etc from the libel backdown would have soured things a bit for a jolly night out.

What I could do with those pennies…

Spunking that kind of money away - even if you are minted - would make my humps puff.

Astute to stay away if her face behaves anything like mine. There would have been plenty of flashes of face like skelped arse going on if it were me.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/01/2024 10:54

The trouble with any book MM might write, though, is that she doesn’t have it in her to write anything remotely negative about herself. People want a bit of candid, warts and all type honesty. She has a carefully curated image/persona, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t lend itself well to this genre of writing. A moanography about her life in the RF (and possibly about life with Harry) would no doubt garner huge sales, but much like Harry, not much credibility. Would she delve into her (within some accounts) disputed childhood, early days in acting, first marriage and other previous relationships? Doubtful.

Yes, to write an autobiography you do need to have a measure of self reflection.

I read that H and M wanted to take their photographer with them to capture the When Lilibet met Lilibet moment but HM said no .
Whereas I am sure Charles wants to see his son and Grandchildren, he is wise enough to not be used.
As far as a book by Meghan is concerned, I am sure it will happen but what new revelations could there be given she was a working member of the RF for a few months ?

If it's part of the PRH deal it's supposed to be a wellness thing. Because there's not nearly enough of those around already.

As for Harold's rudeness to JT I'm actually jaw-dropped. Wasn't JT the one who sponsored him (or whatever it is they do) in the first place?

Absolutely bizarre.

A previous PP mentioned Scientology. I think this could be the key. Their “audits” involve ridding rh person of the “toxic” people in their life. Getting Harry to convert would have been a huge coup for them and he would have been considered even more useful than Tom Cruise. Except it’s all gone horribly wrong.

Gardeningtime · 20/01/2024 11:52

I think any book from Megan is a huge gamble. Look at endgame where the smart money is she was behind it, a huge embarrassing flop. I’m not sure her ego could take it if the same happened to her book

and if it’s just regurgitating what Harry said in spareand the shit they both said in their interviews, no one is going to buy it, well other than the die hard fans, and it would be a guaranteed flop.

any book from Megan after a potential divorce, would be different. I assume she would be relatively successful with that. But when she’s married to Harry it will just be a rehash of spare and end game and languish at the bottom of the sales charts. Embarrassingly so, and I don’t think she’d wish to risk that level of embarrassment.

ArcaneWireless · 20/01/2024 12:34

gardening

I agree.

I do hope they stay together and are happy. A lot of bridges are burning/burnt and if they can be happy together for the rest of their puff? Happy days.

However. Should things go awry? I would posit the notion that both have the ammunition to destroy eachother.

I wonder if either (or both) of them ever feel stuck.

This is what she said in November. I think they need success in 2024, before the Netflix deal expires.

"Things that make people feel...I was gonna say good, but it's more than that. Things that make people feel something, right? And feel a sense of community. But we have so many exciting things on the slate. I can't wait until we can announce them. We're just really proud of what we're creating, and my husband is loving it too."

For their sake I hope that’s true, but I also sadly feel that as they leak so much stuff it’s unlikely.

There are two problems here as I see it.

Firstly, these two don't exactly bring 'positive vibes', so any 'feel good' programming just wouldn't work. 4 years ago it might have, but their 'brand' now is negativity and self absorption, so it would just be laughed at.

Secondly, not just anyone can produce programming that people want to watch. The only thing they've done on Netflix which garnered a lot of viewers was their 'documentary'. Same could be said for their post royal 'career' in general. I definitely think Netflix was hoping for royal related content when they signed them, but that's obviously out of the question now. I don't think either of them has the skills, personality or work ethic to be serious producers.
