A turkey, absolute balls of stuffing or a right Christmas cracker? We'll let you decide. Please keep the discussion interesting, civilised and relevant - the Holiday Armadillo is lurking!

Perhaps Harry’s just polishing up a sniper rifle and ironing his camouflage gear to take William out and announce himself Regent. Princess Anne will rugby tackle him to the floor while Meghan’s got three tiaras on at once.

Yeah, I'd like to see him get past Anne 😁

wildernesssw · 18/01/2024 15:50

Her hat alone would be quite an obstacle, if the Coronation was anything to go by 😂

Maireas · 18/01/2024 16:01

That hat was magnificent. "la plume de ma tante"

Has anyone else listened to The Queen's Reading Room podcast yet? I'm going to have a listen this evening. Ian Rankin and Joanna Lumley are the first 2 guests. Link for anyone interested.

Lots of rumours on X/Twitter that Harry is to come over to visit his family .
Hopefully just rumours . I cannot see William wanting him anywhere near him or his family.

DuchessOfPort · 18/01/2024 18:20

I really enjoyed the Ian Rankin episode - the Guardian slagged it off and said it sounded disjointed because of editing so I had a listen because I wanted to see what they meant and I thought he was interesting and answered all the questions I’d ask him!

Camilla just answers a question at the end so it’s sadly not her interviewing him or anything but it’s good if you’re interested in the individual who is the subject of the episode. I’d like more of her but if she has famous authors that’s also up my street.

And it was a good length. I hope Joanna Lumley isn’t going to be too worthy. I love her but I don’t need her saying throatily how simply thrilling everything is.

Every entrance to Adelaide Cottage will be boobytrapped just in case. William’s just balancing a large bag of flour above the front door. Carefully strewn toy cars down the front path.

But seriously, the Sussexes have been targeting Catherine from the get go, from all the petty shit about lip gloss, hugging and bridesmaids' dresses, the intimation in Spare that William married her for reasons other than love, and the toxic shit spewed by Scobie about Catherine being a lazy, Stepford Wife racist who ignored M's cries for help. Hard to believe that once upon a time, Catherine was supposedly the sister he never had, and he clung onto W&C like a limpet. Very typically narcissistic to turn on her viciously and forget their past relationship, the minute it suited his narrative to do so. She must regret all the time she wasted on him. I would never let the shit near me again, never mind when I am vulnerable and ill.

Fair enough if Charles wants to see him, but he should have the decency to leave C&W alone and not put them on the spot with a demand for a visit.

I do hope he dances with Orville.

Oh goodness, the lyrics to this! It should be the co-dependency national anthem.

It's just so poignant. If Orville doesn't deserve a Legend of Aviation then I don't know who does.

La bougie et la plume: la défense de la couronne.

Not getting the candle reference. Could you explain please. Obviously getting la plume de ma tante.

Just as Harry was behind Anne's hackle* at the Coronation; for nearly every camera angle, Meghan was behind a candle at the Funeral

*hackle is the proper name for the stick up feathery bit when its on military uniform headgear

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/01/2024 08:08

Not just any old candle. It was mahoosive!

'Raise one's hackles" takes on a new angle, thank you @EdithWeston

OP posts:
EdithWeston · 19/01/2024 08:31

Yes, they had 4 large nave candles flanking the coffin. Throughout the lying-in-state as well as during the funeral service. Same for the Queen Mother. Same at Diana's funeral

So candles in that formation are a normal feature of both royal ceremonial and State funerals

Seating would have been by rank/seniority/degree of kin; and I don't know how much that can be fiddled abut with (wouldn't want any departures from the formal to be taken as a snub)

And I've no idea how camera placement is decided!

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 09:12

I am not very much into conspiracy theories - I suspect the candle and hat placement combined with camera angles were just coincidences. But amusing coincidences, given all the drama and background.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/01/2024 09:12

Can imagine ‘raising one’s hackle’ will not have escaped Anne. 😬 Thank you that and the explanation for the candle. I’d missed that. Hmmm I do wonder if it was intentional.
