A continuing civilised and enjoyable discussion of all things relating to Endgame. Please keep posts on topic - I do not want to have to invoke Ross Gellar again!

Thanks for the figures about the Bower book, I was wondering how the sales compared.

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 12:38

There is absolutely no knocking the ambition or achievements. Very few people achieve their end goal. So fair play on that.

Quite how you would then throw that all away in what ever-increasingly looks like a fit of pique?

Its an endgame Jim but not quite how we know it.

But as said, we don’t button up the back and ingénue is rarely a good look on anyone. To make on you knew nowt is insulting.

Wrapping yourself in a wee cloak of ‘I didn’t know’ or ‘I don’t understand’ when you know fine well what you are doing? For folk who are trying to be smart, that kind of shenanigans serve only to elevate them to gowk territory. 🌱

Thanks for continuing the thread @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar , I had to pop out to post office with poorly son , when I came back it was all full!!! 😭

Maireas · 11/12/2023 12:44

Yes, it seems such a strange thing, to spend years hustling, promoting yourself, making contacts, trying to get into papers and magazines, befriending journalists etc, then marry a royal yet claim you didn't know anything about the UK monarchy, it's role or even members!
It's very odd.

Did the post office help your poorly son?!
(Just joking, I hope he's ok)

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 12:45

Hope all is manageable Jeff

You are here now 😊 🌱

Glad to see you! Hope your son feels better soon.

Also want to agree about a highly unkind and unreasonable stick to beat William with , and agree about nobody remembering that both boys lost their mother at an early age !
Arguably I think William may have suffered more , he was apparently teased at school about the interview and it's well known Diana leaned on him for comfort, he would of understood the circus at the funeral a lot more than Harry .

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 12:48

@Maireas , was tempted to post him off somewhere! 🤣, thanks @ArcaneWireless and @AliceOlive, yes he's fine just an earache , his class is closed today as half the teachers are ill , nasty bugs continuing to circulate around!
Anyho back to Scobie , bit of a knob I'd say!

wordler · 11/12/2023 12:58

You guys posted so much and had already started a new thread that I couldn’t work out why it wouldn't let me quote and post in the last one!

So I can’t remember who I was responding to now but…

On singing the national anthem - I would cut her some slack on not realizing she was supposed to know the words and sing the whole thing because Americans just listen respectfully to the tune or someone else singing it. - I bet a lot don’t even know beyond the first two lines of their own anthem.

On accepting advice and help - I have a feeling that she either wanted Kate or the late Queen to be her mentor - I think Harry was resentful that William got the cosy weekend chats with her when we was at school where she talked to him about his future role, and it’s known that Kate after her wedding had tea with the Queen on a regular basis and got a lot of advice from
her.

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 13:01

And that’s the thing jeff

There is no denying that both of them had the centre of their world taken too early.

I agree that arguably, Willian would have been so much more aware of the difficulties leading up to her death.

Having seen the damage done to a child who has been used as an emotional crutch, I cannot fathom why anyone would choose to involve a child in their marital discord.

I believe that both will have been aware - tension in a household can be felt even if folk choose to try to conceal it - but to actively involve a child seems cruel. As other children can be. Especially when it is aired for all and sundry.

I think you can go one of two roads after such a devastating event.

You can live the best life you can, seek out stability and glory on or you can go down the road of chaos and cling onto unhappiness and cause misery despite being so blessed in other ways.

Some folk cannot help themselves. It can’t be fun living in the eye of a storm.

Sometimes you have to walk a happier road instead of choosing to poke away at people. Therein lies misery. And you could argue that the misery is deserved.

You reap what ye sow and all that jazz. And eventually folk will ignore the poking. Which is as it should be. 🌱

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/12/2023 13:06

So Harry was too busy organising a wedding to buy Easter presents, but Kate was meant to find time to mentor Meghan whilst pregnant with HG and with a newborn plus two small children...

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 13:10

An excellent and well thought post as always @ArcaneWireless , I wish I could express myself as thoughtfully but as I've said before I'm a lazy typer! 😉

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 13:11

Double standards are everywhere sadly @RecoIIectionsMayVary 🌱

Edited

I wanted to respond to you @wordler , I do partially agree with some of what you've posted but ... we need to remember Meghan was an actress she would have been trained to research her roles and to remember long scripts .
But suddenly she wants us to believe that she's not capable of doing this?
How did she manage to do her acting work if research and remembering was beyond her?
And going back to the 'curtsey' rhubarb, let's not forget the gem someone posted of her doing a pretty perfect curtsy on suits!

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 13:15

On accepting advice and help - I have a feeling that she either wanted Kate or the late Queen to be her mentor

That certainly sounds plausible wordler

Maybe that it wasn’t so much the help that was offered. Just that it was not good enough help. 🌱

LaurieStrode · 11/12/2023 13:18

Thanks for the new thread.

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 13:19

And going back to the 'curtsey' rhubarb, let's not forget the gem someone posted of her doing a pretty perfect curtsy on suits!

Say what now Jeff? That passed me by. Surely not. Did someone cgi that (not sure of correct terminology) or did it really happen?

Is the medieval one a form of forced rhubarb then? Badoomtish 🌱

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/12/2023 13:21

And the article says about MM having ballet on her resume, and ballerinas certainly get shown how to curtsy

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/12/2023 13:21

I should be doing something else!!

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 13:24

Many thanks @RecoIIectionsMayVary , I'm also very lazy at linking 😉, @ArcaneWireless, mediaeval rhubarb? Could be !!
Never forget though , forced rhubarb is always sweeter ! 🤣

Shrammed · 11/12/2023 13:25

I thought it came out - at least there were loads of media stories about her having an etiquette guide someone went to papers claiming to be that person - not to mention all the experienced help she turned down and failure to at least google royal events where it's often sung.

Its' whole learnt helpless thing they both have going on - despite having more contacts and money than most.

She didn't have to learn an entire different language - just some cultural quirks I'd have thought moving from California to Canada would have exposed her to that idea.

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 13:26

Oh dear oh dear oh dear or dafuq @RecoIIectionsMayVary

Same but different.

Google can be your chum or your enemy sometimes.

Stuff will always come back to haunt you. True that. 🌱
