A continuing civilised and enjoyable discussion of all things relating to Endgame. Please keep posts on topic - I do not want to have to invoke Ross Gellar again!

Wonder what’s delayed their crimbo card. I can only assume that they have thought better of what they were going to put out there, so possibly it was the queen, ..

I’m not sure why they feel they need to release a Christmas card . As far as I am aware only the King and the Wales family release one . Don’t think the Wessexes do ? Or the Clooneys ? Etc

EdithWeston · 15/12/2023 09:00

I wonder if the King realises or suspects that the only reason Harry has been trying to get back in his good books is because the Harkles' career prospects are looking so grim

I think the monarch is well advised, and will be aware os that angle.

The "vendetta" article concludes with a reference to the RF wanting to meet PH only with third parties present (and a written account produced at the time). That theme of "nothing without witnesses" has been around for a while and, if true, doesn't exactly make for jolly family gatherings

5PurpleDinosaurs · 15/12/2023 09:01

I was having an idle thought yesterday- (which i am going to share with you all - sorry about that!) what are the RF and H&M doing about Christmas presents for nieces and nephews? We have ILs we have fallen out with and been NC since 2016 for various reasons (where we are completely right of course! Grin). I send over some money in a card for their DCs and get nothing in return.

Every year DH and I have the conversation if we will continue in the face of this snub. We come down on the side of not punishing the kids for their father's arseholery. I am wondering what conversations go on about that with W&K and H&M for their own respective nieces and nephews.

I don't envy them that process. Or any of it tbh. Family fallouts are pretty hurtful and destructive.

Yes the Wessexes do - here's a whole article from Hello about last years

Sophie Wessex and Prince Edward spark huge reaction with heartbreaking Christmas card | HELLO! (hellomagazine.com)

I like Princess Anne's card this year

And I think quite a number of non-royal people in the public eye send their own (lots of senior figures in government, the diplomatic service, other civil service, big business to this - as well as those in entertainment who always have one eye on their profile)

And there's quite an industry of producing cards with your own pix, and so non-famous people do it too. But the press are hardly going to want to show what pic Janet and Roy have selected this year

Also suspect Dior is not happy they publicly lied about a deal, and they were forced to deny.

It sounds like they were in talks with Dior at the time though, doesn't it? And typical M&H tried to force Dior's hand into confirming a deal with them by announcing it before it had been agreed.

I don't blame Dior for pulling the plug. Who wants to be associated with them now? They're not known for anything positive - it's all gripes, resentments, anger, victim-hood and self-promotion.

cheezncrackers · 15/12/2023 09:14

@MrsLeonFarrell yes, you're right about the Queen wearing Dior in France - that outfit would've been planned months in advance and the timing was just what it was. However, given the choice between dressing the Queen and entering into an exclusive branding deal with the Duke and Duchess of Montecito, which would you choose if you were Dior's brand manager?

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 15/12/2023 09:21

Oh I miss Janet and Roy.

'That bloody Wessex Woman got to have a Christmas Card with the Queen in it.....'

They do one every year.

No. Dior put out a statement, there were no talks.

Were they even in talks or just pitching? Just because they wanted Dior doesn’t mean Dior ever entertained them. Leaking it was a desperate act on the part of their management to swerve the narrative away from the fucking grifters accusation. Arguably they wouldn’t have risked this if a deal was in the offing but not yet signed.

Who’s left on their list? They’ve slagged everyone off

5PurpleDinosaurs · 15/12/2023 09:26

I miss Janet and Roy too.

Although their Christmas cards used to be a bit risque and feature Roy in his latest fetish gear. [boak]

LeggyLegsEleven · 15/12/2023 09:27

I imagine Dior would very much like to dress Catherine given the opportunity.

EdithWeston · 15/12/2023 09:28

Harry, and all the royal males, are generally well dressed when in suits, because most are bespoke.

To clock Harry wearing a branded one at a major occasion was worthy of mention by the brand. But that's surely not in itself a harbinger of deals to come.

How well-sourced was the Dior rumour when it started? Could it be more invented bollocks?

What's the last date for posting in the US?

CathyorClaire · 15/12/2023 09:30

To me this is further proof that Netflix knows that H&M need Netflix rather than Netflix needing them.

NF would no longer appear to care about not stepping on their thin-skinned prize signing's toes.

I think there's about to be a bust-up.

There was nothing, and dior spokesperson say they didn’t even know where it came from.

whats curious from that article, if it’s true, is it says deals they’d have got if it wasn’t for this fantasy vendetta. So they feel entitled and again over estimating their own appeal. That this stuff was theirs for the taking, they just had ro say they wanted it, and that’s not been true for awhile now.

They didn’t get any deals due to the fact they are so contentious. Any brand would know it could seriously damage them to be associated. But harry and Megan still don’t see the damage they’ve done to themselves. That they are the issue, and are once again blaming the royals for their failures,

5PurpleDinosaurs · 15/12/2023 09:36

Andrew Morton was on GMB tis morning and said that H&M could still fill a room with an appearance. I wondered if that was in any way true. Recalling MM being pushed moved along at whatever ceremony it was recently showed her star has fallen IMO.

It does look like Harry and Megan put it out there. Then Dior denied after a few days, and then only after that Megan and Harry did, it was all very cringe. And was very clear they wanted a deal with Dior.

they often do that it seems when trying to be positive, they leak made up shit they are working on.

to be honest, we all knew this was coming, that they were going so far they would have no option. But to try and come crawling back to use the royals to boost their brand again.

xmas at sandringham would have been a real brand boost for them, to see them walking to church. Which shows how far they have fallen and how desperate they are.

cheezncrackers · 15/12/2023 09:44

Yeah, they pissed that all away without a backward glance in 2020, when they thought they were moving on to bigger and more lucrative things. But now the one thing that could possibly save them and their pathetic 'brand' is being photographed with the people they've spent the past four years tearing apart. Oh, the irony!

EdithWeston · 15/12/2023 09:45

Remember that The Express cites an unspecified source. It's written to make it look as if it's come directly from "parties linked to the Sussex camp", but it could also mean someone describing what one of those people said.

It says "crisis talks" but that could be tabloid-speak for a business planning meeting (SNOWMAGEDDON!!)

This bit interested me: "Harry wore a [Dior] suit to the Coronation and the Sussexes were starting to build up their partnership with the fashion house" which seemed to boil down to choosing to wear Dior clothes. We don't know if that was the start of a promo deal, or if the Sussexes were acting as if it were in the hope of it becoming so (are suit brands that obvious, or was there some info released about what the Duke was wearing). What we do know is that from the brands pov there was no advertising or brand ambassador deal under consideration.

She apparently wasn't even on the the official guest list for the event- some sites go further and say she was the plus one of a senior man from her PR agency.

It seems to me that they’re in a sort of echo chamber , detached from reality. Living in a bubble in Montecino , only talking to a handful of sycophantic ‘friends ’ who tell them they what they want to hear. Their advisers if they have any are clearly useless, or they aren’t listening anyway. They appear to have no concept of how they have blown themselves up . There is no way at all that they are ever going to be photographed in walking to Church at Sandringham ever again. The RF will keep them at arms length for good now. Entirely understandably. It’s hard to comprehend just how deluded H and M appear to be.
