A continuing civilised and enjoyable discussion of all things relating to Endgame. Please keep posts on topic - I do not want to have to invoke Ross Gellar again!

I'd totally be there for that! 😂

jeffgoldblum · 12/12/2023 17:22

Mind you @Maireas , it's just my personal opinion... but I think the reason Andrew is spared has less to do with his daughters and more to do with his inside info and the fact he has no filter!

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 12/12/2023 17:23

@LaurieStrode I was just having a very similar thought. If they had waited even a couple of months longer then the pandemic would have hit and I think their lives would be very different.
They'd probably have retreated to Frogmore and with their very young family there would be very low expectations (particularly of Meghan) to take an active part in Royal duties for a few years. William and Kate were given plenty of freedom and space when first starting a family so I think it would have been widely accepted if H&M took the same path.
I think their lives would have calmed considerably over the pandemic and Meghan could have dipped in and out of Royal duties and had all the major appearances at Jubilees, Coronations, State dinners etc that would have cemented her Royal stardust.
Harry genuinely seems to love being involved with Invictus and Sentebele and I think he could have picked up a couple more major projects like that which would have fulfilled him.
Christmas / New Year 2019 was such a sliding doors moment for them, if they could have just been a little more patient then H&M and their children's futures would haven't been entirely different.

Maireas · 12/12/2023 17:23

Oh, I don't think it's anything to do with his daughters, @jeffgoldblum . I think it's something else.

ArcaneWireless · 12/12/2023 17:24

However are they brave enough to upset the York girls by going after Andrew ?

They won’t do that as that will put paid to any nights out in Woking…. 🍕

For all the perceived slights and all the grumbles, criticisms, personal pokes and complaints they spew into the ether, it interests me hugely that the books do not mention the unsweaty elephant in the room.

Given that they do not seem to show loyalty to anyone else, one would wonder what the girls have seen or know about their cuz. 🌱

jeffgoldblum · 12/12/2023 17:24

Ohhh , are we thinking the same things or something samey adjacent?? 🧐

Maireas · 12/12/2023 17:25

the unsweaty elephant in the room
This, 💯.

In some ways Sophie was the most similar as in older & established in a career.

An advantage she had was more years & living with Edward before committing.

Had she not been stung by the "Fake Sheikh" I wonder how long she would have continued her work rather than Royal duties?

Interesting - On her transition to becoming a full-time royal, she later stated:

"Certainly it took me a while to find my feet. The frustration was I had to reduce my expectations of what I could actually do. I couldn't turn up at a charity and go, right, I think you should be doing this, because that's what I was used to doing in my working life. I had to take a really big step back and go, OK, they want you to be the icing on the cake, the person to come in to thank their volunteers and funders, not necessarily to tell them how to run their communications plan."

I've noticed that they never, ever criticise Andrew....

This is fascinating to me - but I suspect it's because they have no beef with Andrew. Meghan has already dissed him in a previous publication by saying she thought he was the Queen's assistant, but he's no threat to them because he's literally the only member of the family who is more despised than they are! They only go after people who are more popular, higher rank or who they feel slighted them in some way. There is nothing to be gained from them going after Andrew. He's toast and even they (with their stunning lack of any kind of insight) know that.

Serenster · 12/12/2023 17:42

spanieleyes · 12/12/2023 17:08

Is there any report of how much of the money has actually been handed over to the projects, it didn't seem to be mentioned in the promo video!

According to what I have seen reported from the most recently filed Archewell Foundation Tax form, in the 2022 tax year Archewell paid out $1,252,895 in grants to 19 receipients. Grants include:

Georgetown University - 200k
Kaboom Iinc - 165k
NAACP - 125k
The Halo Trust - 100k
Hope Lab - 100k
Girls who Code - 65k
Hias Inc - 50k
Wellbeing International - 50k
Parents Together - 50k
Purpose - 44k
Project Healthy Minds - 25k
Free Press - 25k
The Marcy Lab School - 25k
Save the Children - 10k
UNICEF Nigeria - 10k

In the 2021 tax year Archewell had paid out just over $3 million in grants, so they have reduced that considerably.

Archewell’s incoming funds have also declined however - they had just over $2 million received by the Foundation in 2022 in donations. They received $13 million in 2021. The expenses of Archewell have also increased considerably this year.

I've noticed that they never, ever criticise Andrew....

I mean if we're assuming they had a hand in Endgame, there is a full chapter dedicated to Andrew and the Epstein stuff.

Also Harry did mention it in Spare
"Also, not in the wake of my Uncle Andrew. He was embroiled in a shameful scandal, accused of the sexual assault of a young woman, and no one had so much as suggested that he lose his security. Whatever grievances people had against us, sex crimes weren’t on the list."

Maireas · 12/12/2023 17:52

True, @miri1985 - however, they really haven't personally criticised Andrew outside of a sense of victimhood about their own security. It seems strange to be so unkind to Sophie and Edward, yet have no personal gripes against Andrew.
Then again, I'm looking for logic.

Scoobydoobywho · 12/12/2023 17:55

@Vespanest
News reports are 2 million generated by 2 anonymous donors with staffing costs of over 600000. Not sure what happened to the Spare pledge.

Possibly the same happened as Amber Heards "pledge".

ArcaneWireless · 12/12/2023 17:59

Thank you for the reminder. I must have glazed over miri !

He made it all about him not getting security though - he didn’t really address it. Just confirmed that sex crimes weren’t on the list of grievances against them.

What an odd statement.

Considering they’ve spilled quite a lot of detail on other matters, and personal detail at that, it seems odd that it was reduced to a sentence. A carefully worded sentence but just a sentence. And just what was out there. No personal details at all.

I haven’t read endgame, is that just a rehash of what is already out there? 🌱

spanieleyes · 12/12/2023 18:01

@Serenster

Thank you.

Do they have to report on expenses/salaries etc or isn't that required in Delaware?

ArcaneWireless · 12/12/2023 18:02

Sorry maireas

I missed your post as I’m feeding the hairy one and typing and getting the supper on.

Same point I think 🌱

jeffgoldblum · 12/12/2023 18:03

No real stabs at Andrew from either, Sophie was dubbed a casual bigot for not knowing who Oprah was , do we really believe that Andrew hasn't made off colour remarks?
I don't!
His only mentions are what is widely known already and if that wasn’t mentioned at all it would look incredibly odd in comparison to all the casual digs at every other Tom , dick or Harry !

Maireas · 12/12/2023 18:04

No problem! 😊 Hairies have to be fed x

miri1985 · 12/12/2023 18:06

@ArcaneWireless there was barely anything in it new to me, mostly a rehash of what had happened how William wanted to come down hard but the Queen and Charles were a bit more moderate, mentions stuff like the house sale above market price etc and all the other airmiles andy scandals we know about already.

The 2 interesting tidbits I didn't know are that Virginia Guffre is writing her memoirs and that "In June 2020, he sent pizzas (not from Pizza Express) and boxes of dates to a charity that helps human trafficking and sexual exploitation victims. Though few want him to, Andrew hopes to one day ramp up his charitable efforts to creep back into the public eye. “William finds this quite extraordinary. The man is a ticking time bomb!” said a Kensington Palace source."

Serenster · 12/12/2023 18:06

The United States tax year generally is the same as the calendar year, so 1 January to 31 December. Given the figures just released are for 2022, Spare wasn’t published at that stage. You’ll have to wait for next year’s return.

Serenster · 12/12/2023 18:09

spanieleyes · 12/12/2023 18:01

@Serenster

Thank you.

Do they have to report on expenses/salaries etc or isn't that required in Delaware?

That’s also included:

$113,000 legal costs
$640,000 for salaries and benefits for employees
$428,331 for “Programmatic Services”
$34,000 for Travel
$57,000 for office expenses
$25,000 for events

Maerchentante · 12/12/2023 18:10

Just had to google what "Programmatic Services" are. Seems to be advertising, seems quite a bit of money for that.

Maireas · 12/12/2023 18:12

"the man is a ticking time bomb"
No shit!
I love the detail of Andrew sending boxes of pizzas to victims of trafficking, though, @miri1985 😄
