I suppose it is a bit like Harry or Meghan taking a job as a tabloid commentator, while also continuing their campaign against tabloid abuses.

Or taking a job fighting misinformation while misinforming people left right and centre 😂

Indeed, as noted by a judge recently, I believe 😂

Well to be fair, Harry grew up in the RoyAl family so spreading disinformation is all he knows

LimeCheesecake · 10/12/2023 10:31

I always thought the late Queen and Charles thought Harry would end up like Sarah Ferguson - she went to the US and gave interviews slagging off the family, she wrote a nasty book and then did a number of projects like Weight Watchers and flogging stuff on QVC while running up massive debts. She came back and was allowed to live in Andrews home (not given her own!) and her debts covered by him (so by the Queen) on the understanding she was quiet and as invisible as possible.

What they hadn’t planned for was Harry being so much more famous and popular than Sarah, the money isn’t running out as quickly as it should and he doesn’t seem to be holding anything back to be able to rejoin the family. The sales of Spare have caused a massive problem - the level of interest means H&M can command large sums for their projects because they’ve proven unusual international interest.

Chances of him running out of cash and having to come home and do as he is told are now looking slim. and I’m pretty sure that there is no plan B for dealing with him.

I think is is great they use their titles. Truth be told, no-one should be a Prince or Princess in a modern world but if we're going to follow an outraged pathetic system that gives people titles and procedures just for being born, we have to suck it up. The Sussex children are Prince and Princess even if it the Royalist are outraged and offended.

I'd get rid of the royal family if given the option. No way would I want my children brought up in it and I can totally see why they left. But that just makes me think it's even more weird that they still use the titles, especially for the children. I would not be bringing my child up as "Prince X" and "Princess Y", especially in a different country.

It's not a normal family for sure. More like a cult. I mean the rubbish that has been written such as they caused so much heartbreak for the Queen and caused an early death (at 96) is a tactic used in an abusive relationship.

parksandrecs · 10/12/2023 10:45

I don't think there needs to be a Plan B for dealing with him - they have thrown their bombs, and have nothing left to lob at the RF, and are increasingly irrelevant.

The 'shock revelations' from the Dutch edition of Endgame have created a lot of gossip, but that has been around OS's honesty, and whether they collaborated with him, not about the RF.

Most people no longer see them as 'royal' at all, so their use of titles just makes them look affected & a bit ridiculous. I'd say the same about Sarah Ferguson, although most probably see her as ridiculous in a harmless way, as opposed to ridiculous in a spiteful, shameless way like H&M.

LittleBearPad · 10/12/2023 10:49

It is rather like the German, Greek and Austrian princelings who hang onto their titles. Useful for Hello magazine but rather naff.

cocolocopocos · 10/12/2023 07:04

No, but they are pretending that they do

They need to update their website!

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is sovereign and was crowned Monarch in 1953. Her Majesty serves as a symbol of unity and national pride. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex deeply believe in the role of The Monarchy, and their commitment to Her Majesty The Queen is unwavering. Their roles will continue to reflect their sense of duty and allegiance to The Monarch and her legacy in the world, as they transition into the new working model. As they move to become members of the Royal Family, with financial independence, their commitment to The Monarch is resolute, and they aim to continue to fly the flag for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as called upon.

parksandrecs · 10/12/2023 10:51

Yes! It is very funny, all those monarchies that haven't existed for over a century, but there are still Prince/sses of all sorts of countries (and even non-existent countries, Hanover was subsumed into Prussia and then the German Empire in 1866 😂

mrsmingleton · 10/12/2023 10:53

Still trading on it. The first image on their website.

Petty squabbles aired
LimeCheesecake · 10/12/2023 10:53

@parksandrecs - you assume there’s nothing left to lob. He’s got 2 more books to come. This is why I always took with a pinch of salt how much of Endgame came from them, they will need some big things to hold on to for books 2&3. Harry might be dumb enough to put it all out in public in book 1, but his ghost writer is bound to have suggested holding some things back.

cristokitty · 10/12/2023 10:54

I think they're in financial trouble already. They have a massive house with a massive mortgage and property taxes, not to mention bills. They also spend a fortune on the security team they insist they need. They've had some deals but I don't think they can keep up with the amount they're spending. If they're not broke now, they can't be far away from it.

mrsmingleton · 10/12/2023 10:56

I wonder if it is deliberate that they haven't updated their website - yet he comes creeping to the coronation?

parksandrecs · 10/12/2023 10:58

@LimeCheesecake there might be more, time will tell!

I suspect some hint of it would have come out by now, but who knows?

Oh yes I didn't notice that ! A microphone for Netflix? 😂

mrsmingleton · 10/12/2023 11:15

Looking further at their website it has not been updated at all - full of patronages that no longer exist, the Queen as monarch and their support for the Commonwealth.

Nothing since

Update: 18th of January 2020

In line with the statement by Her Majesty The Queen, information on the roles and work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be updated on this website in due course. We appreciate your patience and invite you to explore the site to see the current works of Their Royal Highnesses.

Wow thats your morals is it? You see a woman who has had financial dealings with arms dealers and sex offenders through her husband as harmless!

Well said. SF gets a very easy ride on RF threads. It's always "...but that's just Sarah!"

Hughs · 10/12/2023 12:18

Tbf the PP did not say they saw Fergie in that way, just that most people probably do. So attacking their morals is a bit much imo.

Of course we know more about their finances than yours. Obviously not intimate details but there's enough published to know that they are spending a fortune.

The price they paid for their house has been published. As has the fact they have a mortgage for $9.5mil. Property taxes vary in the US but they're astronomical compared to council tax here. In the tens of thousands of dollars per year. They haven't publicly said how much they spend on security. After the car "chase" in New York Forbes estimated they spend $2-$3 million on security (and Meghan has been seen with a kardashian bodyguard so I don't think they've gone for a cheaper alternative). They've spent a lot of money on litigation over the last few years.

I really do think they'll run out of money soon. They keep trying to behave like royals with patronages and charity work in the US but they don't really have anything to keep money coming in long term. They don't have a high enough profile or deep enough pockets for philanthropy in the US.
