La Pom Pom Girl is doing the Double Dutch. But who is turning the skipping ropes? Part three/trois/drie of the continuing discussion of Endgame by Omid Scobie. Previous thread:

It beats me why Charles would put pen to paper to Meghan. Or was this before their Oprah stuff? And where is this letter now? I presume copies are kept of correspondence sent, even personal letters.

Apparently it was after the Oprah interview.

What's unclear to me, however, is if Charles wrote to Meghan. She wrote to him, but did he reply? I hope not.

I think that was just a rumour.

Anne wouldn’t have had Margaret’s stuff - that would have been her children, and there were some private notes and letters left with the jewellery that was sold in the big auction.

i wouldn’t be surprised if both HMTQM and Margaret got rid of stuff themselves before they died. Rather than leaving anything dodgy or controversial to their child/children.

Off topic but the mention of the Queens letters reminded me there was a letter sold in auction from the Queen detailing how she and Prince Phillip fell in love

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-36045316.

I would imagine quite a bit of their early courtship was via letter

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh

Queen's letter on how she and Prince Philip fell in love to be auctioned

A letter written by the Queen revealing how she and Prince Philip first fell in love, is to go under the hammer.

IIRC then most private communication was done by sealed letter. There was always the risk that telephone conversations would have an eavesdropper.

@BethDuttonsTwin

I am challenging posters on this thread who are throwing pretty wild accusations around, presenting as fact their own notions and opinions.

There are also a lot of really horrible things being hoped for against two people with a young family.

it reads a lot like pure malice. And yes, I will speak up when I have the energy.

🙄 ok.

I see what you are saying @Bookworm1111 , but I don't think for a minute those two would be operating the sort of set up OS was describing, or allow some random assistant to open their mail from Buckingham Palace.

OS could be talking himself into a corner here. His adamant denial that his source material for the letter is H&M leaves only one other place it could have come from; and he's therefore relayed the contents of personal, private correspondence, when neither author of the correspondence gave permission for its release. That's potentially the misuse of private information, and actionable.

I'm absolutely confident they will have minions opening their post. They've established their own mini court in Montecito – they even have a monogrammed doormat! This is a close up from an interview Harry did with the Telegraph.

If Scobie is insinuating it came from an aide extremely close to the King (what a crock of shite) then as that is a breach of national security then surely MI6 need to launch and investigation? I hope they do, Harry, Meghan and Scobie would crap themselves.

Mylovelygreendress · 02/12/2023 15:13

Uncle Gary has spoken out !

wordler · 02/12/2023 15:15

KnickerlessParsons · 02/12/2023 09:10

The only family on either side they are talking to is Doria, so I'm not surprised they are still together.

And M has H over a barrel re thr children, so he's not going to be able to leave the US if he wants to see them regularly.
Lilibet was born in America so has American nationality by default. Archie was born in the U.K. so is British, but I bet he has dual citizenship by now.
I wonder if Lilibet has British citizenship.

Both children were both automatically a British and American citizens at birth because of their parents.

However Lili is only a British citizen by descent because she was born abroad which means she cannot pass her British citizenship to her own children unless she gives birth in the UK.

(I have a ‘Lili’ although parents nationality are reversed for us. She has both passports)

AliceOlive · 02/12/2023 15:18

I must say that I really appreciate that no one is here making excuses for Scobie or defending his vile behavior.

Printing rumors he knows are not true. Quite obviously, he only does that against people he dislikes. There are plenty of untrue rumors to go around.

But it's not pure malice to collude in the belittling and denigration of a mum of three young children which sees her being branded a racist across the globe?

There is part of me that thinks Meghan is feeding Omid shite knowing it will become public to drive Harry away. I’m sure they will last unfortunately, feel for their poor kids wrapped up in this saga

Their poor kids are going to be attached to this nasty nonsense for the rest of their lives. Not once have H or M given a thought to how damaging this is going to be for them. Harry is such a hypocrite considering his own thoughts on ‘genetic’ (generational) pain.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstotheyard · 02/12/2023 15:34

@Bookworm1111 I am sure they do have minions a plenty for all the regular correspondence they get. But a private & confidential letter on personal matters from the the palace? Which I'm going to bet is not delivered through the ordinary mail, but possibly via official channels, a courier or electronically? Surely the palace would not be sending potentially explosive, personal stuff through the regular post to their address in Montecito, unless they want to risk it getting nicked. I've worked in a capacity where my mail was opened in a mail room and delivered to my office, but anything marked private & confidential would not have been opened.

That picture is a bit too close to Harry's crotch for my comfort 😮😂

😂 Sorry about the crotch shot!

You're probably right, they won't have someone open confidential and personal mail, but I bet they discussed the letter with their minions and showed it to them. Basically, I don't believe it was a Palace aide and the leak definitely came from their camp.

miri1985 · 02/12/2023 15:44

Personally I don't think being keen is a bad thing and I don't understand why Scobie has tried to spin it as a negative (although I doubt she actually had that nickname given no one else seems to have ever heard of it). I would much prefer someone who was keen in a job than the opposite

I genuinely would have described Meghan as keen during at least part of her short royal career. I remember being aghast when she announced she was taking only a 6 week maternity leave and during her maternity leave I think she edited that Vogue issue. That seemed far too keen for me in a country where no one would have batted an eyelid if she took 6 months+ it seemed odd to do an American length amount of mat leave.

Maireas · 02/12/2023 15:45

The doormat! 😂brilliant - you couldn't make it up with these two.

ArcaneWireless · 02/12/2023 15:57

They do have people to deal with their correspondence. Didn’t someone give thanks for Archie’s free bike on their behalf?

I wonder if they are going to find the little finger of blame pointed at them soon?

It may have already been said on the other threads but if the Dutch translator got an earlier version with those names in it (which I believe) then isn't it also possible / probable that some other language versions got that one as well? Waiting for the Swedish / Italian / whatever books to be published with the same names and paragraph.

It won't happen - any language versions not yet released are probably being checked for the relevant paragraph and pulled if necessary.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstotheyard · 02/12/2023 16:00

Apparently there were only 5000 Dutch copies. Most of which would probably have ended up in the bargain bin anyway. Not a massive financial hit to withdraw and pulp the offending copies.

OP posts:
MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 02/12/2023 16:01

An Wilson has an article in today's Mail and he makes the point that the publication in Dutch would have been a pretty small run, what with most Dutch people speaking excellent English; so pulping that run would not have been a huge financial hit while at the same time getting the royal racists accusation out there.

Same thought occurred to me.

Apparently Uncle David used to insist that household staff refer to his wife as 'Your Royal Highness' even though, much to his disgust, officially she did not hold that style.

It cracks me up when they issue 'statements' from 'The Private Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex'. What other sort of 'office' would they have? They don't have any official role.
