@Strictlyfanoftenyears Just a bit of advice, saying a woman had a black midwife who she thanked does not mean someone is or is not racism.
What next? A photo of Charles with his black friend?

SO is yours.

What have I said that was sycophantic? You clearly don't understand what the word means.

HoHoHoliday · 29/11/2023 23:14

In the Oprah interview Meghan very specifically said "concerns" discussed about the colour of the baby's skin, although she wasn't actually there when the conversation took place. Then afterwards Harry seems to have backtracked and said the family were not being racist. If concerns about skin colour were raised, that would be racist.
My guess is there was a conversation much like others here and my own family have had, wondering who the baby will take after, whose eye colour, hair colour, skin tone, features, etc. Harry who wants to take offence at anything has relayed this to Meghan, who has twisted it in her own mind to be something else.

When my ginger, freckle faced best friend’s Nigerian black wife got pregnant with their baby one of our early conversations was around the baby’s likely skin and hair colour. None of the conversation was routed in racism just pure fascination of genetics. The couple were as fascinated as I was. She’s utterly gorgeous. None of us mentioned a preference just curiosity similar to when we spoke about whether my own dc would get dh’s striking blue eyes.

from what Harry said, I got the impression that was the angle of the conversation about Archie’s potential skin colour. But then I’ve not read Scoobie’s book. Why is anyone giving him airtime?

Yep this. ^ That's all it is; interest, speculation, and fascination. But some people have to make so many innocent little things 'racism.' It's very tiresome. Makes people afraid to speak, lest they get the finger waggers screaming RACIST in their face, when 90% of the time, it's an innocuous, inoffensive remark.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Looks like you don't either.

So who cares? Lots of people are racist, why get so het up about people in a certain family saying something crass rather than someone on the bus?

You seem very cross mantyzer, not sure that I deserve you being rude to me.

😂😂

innocent little things, you mean microaggressions.

User5442525 · 29/11/2023 23:17

'Even after Meghan and Charles by letter discussed about possible unconscious bias within the family, after it was revealed that...[redacted] and... [redacted] had participated in these kinds of discussions about Archie,.. [redacted] avoided discussing the subject with... [redacted].'

This was the passage in question, translated from the Dutch edition. So it was the same incident, and implies Charles and Kate had a private conversation regarding Archie's skin colour.

CoralGrey19 · 29/11/2023 23:17

They said the person expressed CONCERNS over the skin colour.
Which implies they were worried how 'black' the child would be.

mantyzer · 29/11/2023 23:18

@Strictlyfanoftenyears I am not cross with you. It is real advice. Ignore it if you want.

KnittedCardi · 29/11/2023 23:18

I bet Megan's own parents and extended family mused over what she would look like too.

No, I mean innocent little things. You try and make something of it if it makes you feel better. Smile

smilesup · 29/11/2023 23:18

I wouldn't be made up to have read those texts if I was marrying into your white family tbh

Furthermore did your family also have the world's media focusing on the fact that your cousin was marrying someone non white? Context is everything.

CormorantStrikesBack · 29/11/2023 23:19

Whatever they did or didn’t say even Harry said in an interview over a year after the Oprah interview that the comments weren’t racist. Which seemed a back tracking of what he’d previously said. But he 100% said he didn’t think the comments were racist. Think he said “troubling”. He denied he ever said they were racist. So no racist royals.

mantyzer · 29/11/2023 23:19

No, they said innocent little things, you've said something else.

Charlingspont · 29/11/2023 23:19

I suspect Kate has an air of 'head girl' and that superiority some British people give off, and it was this that Meghan didn't like and possibly hadn't ever come across before. I can't say as I'd particularly enjoy a morning at church with Prince Edward and Princess Anne but I'd at least know what I was in for, whereas Meghan had no idea - she probably thought it would be akin to Hollywood glamour events when in fact it was thin wooden pews and and threadbare kneelers on a cold stone floor!

And then the tights debacle where I suspect Kate said in Britain my dear, bare legs are considered common, and Meghan just lost it.

WobblyCat · 29/11/2023 23:20

KnittedCardi · 29/11/2023 23:18

It's ok for your OWN parents to wonder what you might look like. I'd be furious if my ILS, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. were voicing concerns about how my child might look.

GrazingSheep · 29/11/2023 23:20

@JudgeJ

Please do not refer to me as ‘love’. Your condescension is not welcome.

She’s an actress, I imagine she sat on the floor as soon as she heard the car on the drive, and the key in the door.

Its all vindictive nonsense, and there is no coming back from this for the ex’s

So ‘actresses’ can’t be upset now?

LuluBlakey1 · 29/11/2023 23:21

flowerchild2000 · 29/11/2023 22:51

Maybe you should expand your horizons, read something other than gossip.

Well it is Harry who dressed up as a Nazi and who has admitted referring to a fellow serviceman as a 'P*ki' and people in Afghanistan as 'towelheads'.

CormorantStrikesBack · 29/11/2023 23:21

CoralGrey19 · 29/11/2023 23:17

I’m sure recollections may vary 😂

I mean what’s more likely. Kate says to Harry “I’m worried that baby is going to look black” or “I wonder who the baby will take after, maybe ginger like you or maybe look more like Meghan”.

Or even possibly “I wonder if the baby will look white or black seeing as he will be mixed race”.

and now Harry and Meghan have twisted their truth.
