That’s appalling. And it does suggest a degree of racism within the RF which hopefully has been addressed and the relevant talks/actions carried out to ensure that this does not happen again.

I very rarely agree with Piers Morgan, but he's so right saying that mistranslation of a name isn't possible, and a name doesn't suddenly appear if it wasnt there before. And to also say that Omid should be getting lawyers in if what he says is true. But he doesn't appear to be.

To me, it seems totally clear that it was very deliberate.
I'd also be interested if there were other (insignificant) changes to the text, or if this was the only one...

Well since you ask I think Harry grew up in a racist environment and his early antics reflect this. Then he met a mixed race woman and she educated him on race. He thus became aware and his family remained where they were.

Well since harry himself has been very clear this is not the case, then I think it would be prudent for people to take his view and not yours. Unless you’re a senior member of the royal family or their staff and know better?

What is bad is... they CHOSE that picture to put on the wall of their private apartment. They have art collections beyond our wildest dreams at their disposal, but they chose that one.

PMSL at all the people pompously calling her "Princess Catherine". Even the fawning Daily Mail has stuck to "Kate".

I might have believed it if it wasn't those two, but it feels like they went for the biggest names in the royal family (no offence to William, but nobody is that interested in him even if he is the heir to this clown show). If it had been Princess Michael of Kent or someone I might have been a bit more credulous, but even if Kate is a closet racist she's far too careful and PR conscious to have EVER said anything genuinely offensive out loud.

Boggles the mind how it actually happened. I don't think it's done Scobie any favours. That was his last titbit and it's out now.

Accusing someone else of racism or unconscious bias does not mean he is no longer racist and the lack of taking accountability of his own past actions is troubling

Yes of course they were. He had no experience other than the royal family, public school and the army. None of them known for their progressive ethos. He learned. Which is more than can be said for many other people.

According to some posters upthread we wouldn’t know who ‘Kate’ refers to in the Royal Family so she has to be ‘Princess Catherine’. Because there are so many Kates in the RF apparently!

But Meghan must be referred to as ‘that Markle woman’. Because how could a black woman possibly carry the name Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor?!

Was it W and K’s choice to travel in the open top car and to keep children fenced off? I think these things are decided by the hosts in advance of a royal visit. It looked bad and incredibly outdated but I’m not sure you can blame William and Kate.

I actually agree with you. I would be very surprised indeed if Charles when harry started dating Megan asked what colour any babies skin would be and harry said it was at the start of the relationship it was said.

And honestly Kate is a bit Stepford wife , let’s be honest, I’d be very surprised if she was ever close enough to Megan that when she was pregnant with Archie to even voice that question.

i don’t get the impression they were ever close enough for that. Hence why it’s all so vague about Kate. As said earlier, I think she just got dragged in to try and tarnish her.

there does seem to be a serious dislike of Kate though from harry and Megan and a desire to tarnish her. Which is odd as she did obviously get on well with harry prior. But it is dislike of both of them. Is Kate simply collateral damage?

it’s easy to assume it’s jealousy on Megan’s and Harry’s part. Kate’s married the top brother, has a loving family, is now popular with the British public, is going to be queen, her son will be king, harry did used to like her, a lot, and she seldom puts a foot wrong publicly, and Megan and harry were going to have to play second fiddle to her in the royal stakes. Megan will always have married the spare , never to be queen, and her kids would ne also less senior. And harry will always be the spare, and is clearly deeply pathologically jealous of his brother.

You really think William and Kate have to do exactly what they are told and can't object to anything? They will be consulted.
And I already said that the black footballer who was also there walked to a part of the chain link fence with a hole in it to talk to the black children. He presumably realised the optics even for him and took action to avoid that.

Surely if Omid Scobie produced a copy of this letter - which he must have in order to write about it - then we could all judge properly.
