Omid Scobie's new book

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

Well yes but as has been said ad nauseam they don't all go on chat shows, write poor me books and do reality shows saying how awful they all are. The rest know which side their bread is buttered. And no Fergie's book isn't comparable I don't think she bitched and finger pointed to quite to same degree.

Going back to the book for a minute. Someone posted an extract and Scobie was re hashing the Charles and Camilla hacked conversation about tampons. He misquoted Charles of course.

I don't believe that Harry, who detests the media and is fighting a case against hacking, would have anything to do with this sort of ancient gossip.

But the extract increased my distaste for Scobie, and convinced me that his sources are cut off and he only had old material to write about.

They do have friends though, who claim to know all the inside, and hitherto unrevealed, info of what happened when they exited the RF. There's a close friend of MM who did an interview on This Morning the day after there Oprah interview, and said MM has the receipts for everything she said on Oprah. She also was very clear that H&M knew she was doing the interview, she wasn't speaking against their wishes. Scobie doesn't need to go directly to H&M if their friends who claim to be in the know are given the green light to say what they know(including Eugenie, who was name checked in the extract from the book in People Magazine - a reference to a conversation you'd think only she and Harry would know about). H&M can plausibly deny it was them who spoke to him.

I disagree that Harry is above petty gossip, though. didn't he include some stuff about his dad and his teddy bear in Spare? Completely unnecessary. And he hates Camilla, so I don't think he cares about her feelings at all. It's funny how everyone forgets that "Tampongate" was an early incidence of phone hacking.

These are all good points, but I think that Harry is trying to move on from this type of book and messaging which is why it appears from the extracts published and the chapter titles that Scobie doesn't have new information.

Of course it is possible that this didn't get communicated to their "friends" hence the quotes.

Reading the latest titbits from Endgame and wondering how OS knew that Catherine and Meghan didn’t speak in the car going to see the flowers the day after HM died ?
Who on earth shared that little detail ??

pilates · 24/11/2023 18:50

I wonder mylovelygreendress 🤪

Apparently, OS isn’t 'Meg’s pal' and the Sussexes have nothing to do with the book.

Mylovelygreendress · 24/11/2023 18:54

It’s a mystery isn’t it @pilates ??

Serenster · 24/11/2023 18:57

We’ve heard that before, haven’t we? Set out in witness statements, even. All not remotely true then ,either.

Indeed we have. Like oh we didn't co-operate when they did. No wonder the royals don't seem to want a lot to do with them. And all the fuss about what Thomas Markle did. And yet it's ok for them to keep digging up the dirt (mostly imaginary) and causing trouble.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 24/11/2023 20:07

They have flying monkeys. Look up on YouTube "Meghan Markle’s Friend Reveals How the Royal Couple are Feeling Post-Interview | This Morning". All they need to do is tell a couple of these types of friends to spill the beans to OS, and they can plausibly deny that it didn't come direct from them.

The other titbit revealed in Paris Match is that KC was concerned and crying about PA's mental health, after his car crash of a Newsnight interview. OS has clearly parcelled together a load of innuendo, gossip and half truths to match his chapter headings: weak and foolish king, domineering queen, calculating power crazed William, cold bitch wife Kate, Meghan is Obi Wan Kenobi and Harry is Luke Skywalker, our only hope. It would be interesting if it hadn't already been done to death these past 3 years.

Those were my thoughts too. It’s so transparent.

Makemydaypunk · 24/11/2023 20:44

I wonder if H&M will sue……………no doubt tumbleweed. Didn’t they ask JK to make sure their revelations in FF couldn’t be traced back to them or something?

Serenster · 24/11/2023 20:58

Actual words of Prince Harry in an email to his staff member about Finding Freedom:

“we have to be able to say we didn’t have anything to do with it. Equally, you giving the right context and background to them would help get some truths out there

Following this, the staff member was given several pages of briefing notes written by the Duchess herself to pass onto Omid Scobie. Meghan also asked her staff to fact check sections of the book.

Makemydaypunk · 24/11/2023 21:13

Thanks @Serenster proof they were involved indeed.

CathyorClaire · 24/11/2023 21:48

I'm calling utter screaming bollocks on that one.

Chuck (just like Mummy) is all about preserving the institution for the directs.

Entirely possibly Andrew (unlike Harold) holds decade's worth of deep dirt.

Why else might there be a continued touting of an imaginary eviction from Royal Lodge and an under the radar re-integration into the family fold?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/11/2023 21:54

“We have to be able to say we didn’t have anything to do with it ..."

That's the bit which really did it for me
In a way it's almost worse than the original lie, in that it shows a realisation of how their involvement would look - and also gives the lie to the usual claims about how shocked and saddened they were about many reactions

I felt really sorry for William when he was asked if the royal family were racist. It was an appalling slur. Harry then backtracked and said they were not. Not surprised William and Kate want nothing to do with them.

I think that’s not as bad as the accusations against Kate, the account of William fighting with him, the general whining about being the Spare. Any other family would have completely cut him off . Charles is obviously trying to keep the door open but I think W and K are completely done with him. He’s completely betrayed them and their father. He made the Queen’s last years so much more difficult too. If he were my brother or son I would never speak to him again. I think it’s pretty clear from Harry’s book that William was finding him really hard work for some time before he left for the US.

pilates · 25/11/2023 07:50

The worst for me was their behaviour in the lead up to the late Queen and Prince Philip’s passing. They brought upset and misery and if I was in William’s shoes I wouldn’t want anything to do with them either.

Yes, and he allowed that slur to sit out there, being discussed globally, for two years or more, before 'backtracking'.

I don't know how anyone could be expected to forgive that.
