Buckingham Palace denies claims Charles ‘might offer Harry a royal home’ in UK

This story is curious. There are versions in the Telegraph, Daily Mail and Times as well. With Buckingham Palace emphatically denying it - Harry seems the likely source. Is he trying to force the RF to give him a permanent home in the UK?

Ordinarily, it would seem a reasonable enough thing to expect, but of course, things are no longer 'normal'. After Harry's disloyalty to both the family and the institution, it is a bit cheeky to expect to be given free home on royal property?

The priority of journalists is getting to the truth and the priority of editors is selling newspapers.

The selling newspaper or clicks yes, but the truth is not important, and most people no longer believe it is, as multiple global surveys have shown. We simply don't trust our media anymore, for good reason.

Howsimplywonderful · 27/09/2023 09:03

That’s the message fascists like to portray. Donald Trump used to spread that message too. Don’t believe the press ‘believe me’.

There are plenty of talented, good journalists out there.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 27/09/2023 09:26

Not trusting mainstream media makes me like Trump? So criticising Meghan makes you all like him too?

Serenster · 27/09/2023 09:46

Harry is pretty unequivocal about the British press. He did say in his book that he will not deal with the British press.

And yet this is the same Harry pictured here hugging Bryony Gordon, Telegraph journalist, outside his Montecito home in January this year, after giving the Telegraph an exclusive interview.

They talk the talk, but as I said elsewhere, they only don’t like the press when it’s not saying what they want it to.

@Serenster , isn't that the infamous monogram doormat photo?

Howsimplywonderful · 27/09/2023 09:57

The rest of history have just released some good episodes on British facism in the 1920/1930’s for anyone who is interested

I love that podcast!

Indeed it is 😀

(was loving the references to Roderick Spode and the Blackshorts in The Rest Is History!)

@Serenster

Me too.

Bryony Gordon is one of the few who as integrity of the British press and is favourable and supportive to them.

She is the only one at the Telegraph and supports them,. She is freelance and also works for other publications like Hello magazine

They said the media they would not cooperative with was the Sun, Mirror, Xpress and Mail. Freelance journalists like Bryony is a different matter

So he is only talking to journalists that say nice things about him? Not unreasonable, but it doesn’t make everything else written about him untrue. It just means he is trying to control the narrative. You say Bryony Gordon has integrity because she supports him. Doesn’t that make her a tad biased?

milveycrohn · 27/09/2023 13:58

As I understand it, PH would be allowed to stay in one of the Residences (I think KP), but has to give more notice (which PH did not).

If a media outlet was writing upwards of 20 articles a day, most of it lies and rhetoric, I doubt I'd be engaging with their journalists either
Very sensible of him and her. Dan Wootton Jeremy Clarkson Angela Levin Piers Morgan et al
Who wants anything to do with that lot?

As I said, I understand completely that he doesn’t want to engage with certain journalists. I’m just staying that Bryony Gordon is likely to be biased in his favour. That’s all 😆

Well, Occam's razor suggests the story can most likely be traced back to Harry's camp. I can well imagine the outrage he felt when told that he couldn't just swan into private accommodation at Windsor Palace for a last-minute stay (don't they know who I am?) and his inner circle of supporters/sycophants likely validated/ encouraged this outrage (how dare they! You're the King's son! It's outrageous!)
Perhaps emboldened by a combination of this private outrage and the relatively favorable Invictus PR, he brings his position to the attention of the usual trusted suspects at the Telegraph/Times.

What's quite interesting about some of the responses on this thread, however, is that even his supporters can see the folly of promoting his position - because most of them are insisting the story is made up!

It really, really doesn't.

I don't think you know what Occam's razor means.

There's literally zero reason to believe Harry had anything to do with this and only an extremely credulous person who believes everything written in the tabloid would think that.

If you think Harry is leaking articles that make him look bad and entitled to the British press, I have a lovely bridge with 'London' in its name to sell you.

But The Times, The Independent and The Telegraph aren't guilty of that though.

He happily put his name to a whole book making him look entitled, so it's really not that much of a stretch!

i see the U.K. is no. 11 and Ireland is no. 13

If 0 is corrupt and 100 is ‘very clean’ then perception of corruption in the public sphere being at 11 means people in the UK aren’t very trusting of the public sector. Ireland at 18 has more trust. I may have read that wrong, though. Can you confirm, Please?

Howsimplywonderful · 27/09/2023 15:31

The score is on the left (out of
100) and the ranking (11) is on the right

The U.K. has a score of 78 and is ranked 11th

That’s Much better, thank you.

what I came up with seemed pretty extreme in regards to the perception of the public sector.
