"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

He is referring to the Queen.

Is he saying this is why he is not at Balmoral with the rest of the RF? Is this what he means by "going to her"?

I said “if”. This is a discussion forum. If H and M really wanted a quiet life they’d have one but that’s clearly not their intention and I doubt it ever was

What's that to do with unpleasant speculation about their marriage?

Is anyone in the public eye open season for speculation?

Silence IS defending surely?

The video was seen on here, talked about, discussed, I didn't see much in the way of disgust about it and him from certain quarters.
Ditto when I talked about his appearance in Oz Big Brother. He spent his time in there slagging her off
She wisely kept her silence. No criticism by some on here either

The only references to Thomas Jr and Samantha I can see were people saying M was better off without them, and then it looked like some people maybe didn’t read it properly or wrongly assumed that the type of person who think it’s sad when a father/daughter relationship breaks down for whatever reason would also be pro-blackface, which I’m not really following the logic of but still.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 09/09/2023 11:13

oh and @MrsMaxDeWinter do you have to bring racism into everything ?. It’s tedious .

This itself is a micro aggression. When Megan's Markle relatives are mentioned and she is criticised for 'ruthlessly' cutting them off, after they've been racist or supported racist people, then race is an issue and it isn't @MrsMaxDeWinter 'bringing race up'. Posters who post in sympathy of them despite their racism or in Thomas' case supporting/appearing with racist people, they should be reminded of what or who they're sympathising with.

The very fact that every time any of us bring up racism on this board we get one of you saying ' why do you bring race into it', is also a micro aggression.

Race and racism are relevant to our lives, and are very relevant to the life of Meghan- especially as just this week former met police officers were pleading guilty to racist messages about her. I would very much love it if racist people were to stop being racist so we did not need to address it, but it isn't people of colour who have made race an issue. If its tedious to you, just imagine how tedious it is to be a person of colour having to deal with it throughout your life.

If its tedious to you, do something about racism.

Start by not telling people of colour they can't talk about racism because it bores you.

The privacy thing was only ever mentioned in the press. They didnt want to be ruked by the Palace and press narrative. Which was naive even at the time, but there we are. Now its open season, because, as Harry should have known, his family and the press have a symbiotic relationship. All Harry's charities seem to gain a lot from him being there. Why should he not continue? The press publish story after story about one tiny sentence he utters or one photo of Meghan going about her business because they make money out of it. They make money out of it because the minute they put her name in a headline, they know that millions of people who love to hate her will flood their pages with click through and comments, increasing the stats they use for advertising revenue. If people who claim to hate them and want them to go away ignored them, they would go away. The demand for stories about them would go away. The Royals are not going to be harmed by whatever Harry does. If anything Harry is more of a human shield than he was when he was when he was there. There is a rift in their family, like many before and many to come. They will still be there, living a life of luxury, with not a care in the world for a long time to come. Harry and Meghan will have no effect on that. William and Kate may eventually have to do more than a day's work a week, but they are the big beneficiaries of the monarchy, as are their children and grandchildren so they should be.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 09/09/2023 11:17

Thank you for that eloquent post @Iwantcakeeveryday

Maireas · 09/09/2023 11:26

I think you're right, @Angrycat2768 , but by the same token, Harry and Meghan need to be seen and written about. They pay a company to manage their profile. They want to make the news and get the clicks, because what else will help them to remain high profile? Many celebrities understand that deal with the press, it's important to keep yourself relevant.

Dear oh dear. If this is true he’s certainly going to regret putting all his eggs in the basket of the woman he chose to marry against the advice of others. She has history of dumping people once they are no longer useful. He’s burned his bridges with his family. Interesting to see what happens next

I have said this before on here. I do not understand why people post about two people they really dislike.

There are a couple of famous people in the public eye who I don't like. I avoid threads on here like the plague. If they pop up on social media, I do not read about them, I will not give them the clicks.
Why can't that work for those with a thing about H&M? I find it baffling

Samcro · 09/09/2023 11:45

what a shame that a thread about such a worth while charity has become a harry and meghan bash, it doesn't mater what they do the haters have to hate.

Roussette · 09/09/2023 11:08

Well yes. If they court publicity. You sound overly invested yourself

LadyKenya · 09/09/2023 12:07

Absolutely well said@Iwantcakeeveryday . It is so obvious to myself that race has a lot more to do with the negativity that the Sussexs are subject too, then those who are always trying to deny that fact, will admit too. When it comes down to the racism that Meghan has experienced, those saying that they cannot see any racism are a big part of the problem. And calling talk of racism "tedious" is astoundingly arrogant, and unpleasant.

It's just about having an opinion.
It's not about hate, it's not "a thing", it's not obsession. You choose what threads to post on, so do others. What does it matter?

Maireas · 09/09/2023 12:11

Samcro · 09/09/2023 11:45

There is no "bashing".
There is no "hate".
People who are in the public eye and are celebrities are often criticised. You may not like it, you may disagree. However. People are free to discuss their actions.

Maireas · 09/09/2023 12:12

Meghan and Harry aren't saints. It is quite valid to criticise their actions and behaviour.

Obviously my posts aren't riddled with negativity about a couple I don't know.
I would rather be on the side of positivity in my 'over investment'

I haven't used the word 'hate'
I talked about a couple of people I don't like. I certainly don't hate them and I do not want to waste my brain space on anyone I am not keen on. Unlike detractors of H&M

ArcaneWireless · 09/09/2023 12:19

It would appear so.

”At one point JUST ONCE I said I have no idea what it was about but perhaps William had had an affair, that would explain the anger between them. “

Speculating on affairs the state of a marriage or shenanigans is unpleasant. End of. That goes for H&M or W&K.

But it does seem that one couple is fair game for some.

You can't control that, though. If folks want to criticize them, let them. What does it matter? You haven't used the word hate, but it's used on here a damn lot. Have a discussion, as you do, maybe good points are made. Maybe not. Opinions vary.

ArcaneWireless · 09/09/2023 12:22

Opinions vary.

Quite.

Maireas · 09/09/2023 12:23

Some people on here regularly use the term hate about any criticism of that couple's actions.

Roussette · 09/09/2023 12:24

@ArcaneWireless
Goodness me you do like advance searching me and my posts dont you? That was ages ago

I think what I said stands for itself. I was asked what I thought and I gave that non-committal answer. However, countless times I have criticised the William pegging crap and said that Kate is the jewel in The crown and I hope they have a happy marriage and all that sort of stuff but you do you

This conversation with you ends with me here now

LadyKenya · 09/09/2023 12:27

Some people will say anything for a reaction, no matter how silly, and pathetic they sound.
