"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

He is referring to the Queen.

Is he saying this is why he is not at Balmoral with the rest of the RF? Is this what he means by "going to her"?

Yet nobody (quite rightly) has questioned the experienced shared by a Jewish poster. Nobody has said 'how do we know they really are Jewish?'

Surely you can see the double standard. It happens so often on here when race and discrimination are discussed.

i see that mike tindel has be selling his rf links again

I haven't bothered to look at The Royal Family board for a while because there's about 4 posters who make every single thread about racism.
You want to talk about Invictus? Nope.
You want to talk about Princess Anne? Nope.
The Rugby Podcast? Nope.
Dynamics between Anne, Mike, William and Kate? Nope.
Well child awards? Nope.
I look at the last page of every thread now, before the first, and every single time, the Royal Family threads are about racism now.

Any idea where those of us who are interested in the royal family can go?

👏👏

Imagine going on to ( eg) the dog board and say you hate dogs !!

Imagine thinking that talking about racism on a Royal Family board equates to hating the Royal Family.

Maybe we need one single thread about race & the RF, then it would stop every single other discussion descending into mudslinging and random accusations of racism. I’ve said my piece about why it’s a sensitive subject for me & why trivialising and conflating things is a bad idea… that way me & others could just avoid it.

Just in case you missed it @MrsMaxDeWinter did reply to your now removed previous comment on this thread.

She did ask one or two questions of you as part of her response.

skullbabe · 10/09/2023 10:45

I’ll reiterate that of the trending 10 threads on the Royal Family board - only 3 have discussions of racism. So the perception is incorrect.

PrincessOfTigger · 10/09/2023 10:58

I think nearly 1/3 of threads descending into accusations of racism is still quite a lot

ALittleTeawithmilk · 10/09/2023 11:07

I agree with @LadyKenya, there have been some outrageous things said to black posters on here.

i don’t know if it’s anonymity or if some posters are like that in real life. Either way it’s unacceptable.

skullbabe · 10/09/2023 11:20

I wonder what the easiest way to stop discussions or racism would be? Hmmm

PrincessOfTigger · 10/09/2023 11:23

I think a good place to start is if posters could stop attempts at mind-reading. I mean I’m ND so people definitely don’t know what’s going on in my head 😆

"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

Can I return to the original question for a moment? I know the statement is confusing but it seems to me that Harry was referring to the fact he had to make an unexpected dash up to Balmoral this time last year and had to cancel his remaining charity commitments. He was saying that the Queen would have told him to honour his commitments over going to Balmoral after she died.

Maybe, he was, indirectly, making a more general point too, I'm not sure.

He may have been responding to criticism he received this time last year. It was said that he must have known that his grandmother was gravely ill yet he was over on this side of the pond with charity work to fulfil but no plans - originally - to visit the Queen. So he might have been implying that he was being dutiful - like the Queen - in putting his charity work first.

Yes.
Maybe several of them knew that she was quite ill, but they didn't all need to be up there for three weeks, gathering like vultures. If you're there when someone dies, you are. If not, you're not. Going 36 hours later than 6 hours doesn't make a deal of difference in my eyes, and I just throw out those 2 figures at random. I think HM would have well understood the need for him to be where he was supposed to be.

I assume this is targeted at me for sharing my experiences of antisemitism - I’m not white. Not all Jews are white (in fact most aren’t) you may be thinking of Ashkenazim - Mizrahim are Middle Eastern. There are also black Jews (a number of countries in Africa have Jewish communities) and Sephardim (Portugal and Spain).

I would also like to correct the assumption that Ashkenazi Jews have white privilege or a special status for their light skin: all Jews are despised by white supremacists. In the UK, Jews (and the majority of UK Jews are Ashkenazi) are per person the most likely minority group to be victims of hate crimes. Light skin does not give Jews privilege and nor does it save anybody.

You can talk about what you like: others are not obliged to believe it or adopt your views.

LadyKenya · 10/09/2023 14:20

Again, I hear you@MrsMaxDeWinter . It really is something when posters will carry on doubling down, insisting somehow that black posters are being less than truthful in what they are saying regarding racism, when it does not even affect them in the same way, they have ZERO experience of being black. It really is something to witness. I just would not bother engaging at all. Waste of your good time. Some people just go down like that for whatever reason.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 10/09/2023 14:22

No it was your posts about not believing black posters were really black or really experienced racism as we say we do. You repeated this a number of times and you only do this to posters who identify as black.

You can talk about what you like: others are not obliged to believe it or adopt your views.

If someone said this to you when you share stories about anti semitism, you would then say they were being anti semitic for not believing you.

I suggest posters take the advice from MNHQ earlier as several posts have now been removed.

No I wouldn’t: I’m anonymous too! And I don’t think I’ve ever accused anyone on MN of antisemitism for disagreeing with me - as per my previous posts I don’t make accusations of racism lightly. Skepticism is healthy. If you believe nothing anybody says, that would be silly but it’s up to you. Same if you take everything anyone says at face value. If a poster has a history of saying things that don’t seem true or being in the centre of arguments, you’re not obliged to believe everything else they say. Fair enough imo.

That was me, not PrincessofTigger, and it is response to skepticism raised about my disclosure about my mixed race family. I could be anyone claiming to be anyone, in the same way that you could be claiming to be anyone.

Are you referring to a specific poster or posters here? 😮

Who has a history of saying things that aren't true?
I think that is unfair and mean. You wouldn't like someone saying that about you
We have no choice but to take things at face value

There needs to be an ongoing discussion re racism as it is insidious, how can we separate it from every day life? How can we discuss the NM/Harry without it being part of the conversation? I'm white, with my privilege I will never face racism so I try to learn and understand from others experiences, threads like this show me the more nuanced forms of racism, people like me need to learn that it isn't always so obvious
