"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

He is referring to the Queen.

Is he saying this is why he is not at Balmoral with the rest of the RF? Is this what he means by "going to her"?

Full house!🎉@skullbabe . Here you go!🍾

Interesting to see you applauding racism in any form, particularly if your name refers to your country of origin.

Hi everyone,

Please can we remind everyone of our talk guidelines?

Thanks so much!

ALittleTeawithmilk · 10/09/2023 00:03

True about those Markle siblings. Who on earth would give credibility to them. Good grief..

i can understand why people think that but:

Their own father gives ‘credibility’ to them by appearing on a prime time tv ‘news’ show called Spotlight with them. The three of them were there to discredit and laugh at Meghan. How incredibly hurtful for Meghan.

Samantha who called her stepmother ‘the maid’, and Thomas Jnr who appeared on YouTube in blackface were both fully endorsed by Thomas Markle snr.

The gang of three were then endorsed by the media corporation who chose to give this racist bunch (and consequently racism itself), prime time air time. Plenty of posters to this board watched it and discussed it on here.

Of course racism permeates the societies we live in. And plenty of the mainstream media endorse it while pretending they don’t.

Racism can be colour blind.

I call BINGO on the thread🤣! (Sorry for being silly - on the Prosecco and Proms and a party is going on in my house).

BINGO!

There are two of us who feel very sympathetic and horrified atPrincessTiggers experience, I don't think that should be minimised just because she says she is Jewish and not Black.

Make that three. Her experience is shameful and horrific.

I don’t see why Tigger’s experiences should not be acknowledged.

It doesn’t lessen my experiences of racism and the discussions I’ve had regarding that. Or that of others. It doesn’t lessen my experience of discrimination, prejudice and on one occasion, violence. I have not, however, had cars driving down my street threatening violence and rape to me and mine.

It doesn’t stop me being sympathetic to anyone else who experiences it.

All racism is abhorrent.

While I agree that there is a large problem with racism in this country (as skullbabe’s examples attest) and probably the world over, I don't think for a moment it is limited to those who are black.

I would not deny or downplay anyone’s experience.

I confess I will not go diving for the more extreme rants on the internet. Not because I’m denying it happens. I just don’t want to see that level of hate (again). It disgusts me and I will not actively seek it out. I know it is there. That is bad enough.

If MM has that from her family then my heart goes out to her. Shame on them.

Nobody minimised or said only black people experience racism.

First black posters were told not to 'promote' racism by mentioning that Megan's brother wore black face, then we get a poster saying because the black posters experiences were so alien to her as a jewish person not of the same race as us that we are not to be believed, then her story of anti semtisim is shared and gets an outpouring of sympathy and support.

Do you not see the difference?

Black people shouldn't mention racist incidents against black people because it promotes it and gives them power.

Black posters are liars because our experiences of racism don't match those of someone who isn;t black.

Jewish poster shares a horrible experience of anti semitism and that is not met with anyone saying she is promoting it or lying, but met with support and acknowledgement.

This board is anti-black. This happens all the time and often involves the same posters.

@ImaniMumsnet This is why black posters had to beg for a special section, because of incidents like this.

I find it interesting that Meghan has now been taken off the programme for Invictus. Doesn’t look like she will attend after all. Harry seems to be doing his own thing all the time alone. When they go out they always seem to have a third party present . A far cry from the ‘young lovers’ image they enjoyed projecting. Clinging to each other and back rubbing .Changed days.

She was always a bit tangential to IG - no real experience to draw on (military, sport or disability) to be a presenter/host.

It doesn't mean she won't be there though - just that she has no formal role. She can just watch with Harry, as she has done in the past

themessygarden · 09/09/2023 21:45

I guess I should have been clearer, I am saying I have been subject to racism and colorism on here (by two or three posters). as the Irish white wife of an African man and the white mother of mixed race children, so your bingo is a false card. Sorry to have to be the the bearer of bad news and to re emphasis that not only black women are subject to micro aggressions and racism.

Edited

No. You do not experience colorism as a white person. That's not what the word means.

No, what was said was that people who are extremists shouldn’t be made to feel they are in larger numbers than they are and that blowing up the views of extremely fringe characters is worse than just ignoring them. People who are genuinely racist (like people who wear blackface or send the family death threats) are small in number but like to believe their views are more common than they actually are. When racists say “I’m just saying what everyone else is thinking” the correct answer is “no you’re not”, not agreeing with them. As I said before, it’s an anonymous forum, people can and do claim to be all kinds of things, skepticism is healthy.

themessygarden · 10/09/2023 08:18

Yeah, the Irish are the blacks of Europe (allegedly).

Angrycat2768 · 10/09/2023 08:19

Why is that different when highlighting one horrendous anti semitic incident though? We were talking about the Markle family, who have all been given the oxygen of publicity by mainstream tabloids, have been in endless TV programmes, news outlets and reality TV shows and have been given endless airtime. If that's not making extremists think everyone agrees with them, I don't know what else does.

Agree with that, they have been given disproportionate amounts of oxygen by the press

SidekickSylvia · 10/09/2023 08:56

I haven't bothered to look at The Royal Family board for a while because there's about 4 posters who make every single thread about racism.
You want to talk about Invictus? Nope.
You want to talk about Princess Anne? Nope.
The Rugby Podcast? Nope.
Dynamics between Anne, Mike, William and Kate? Nope.
Well child awards? Nope.
I look at the last page of every thread now, before the first, and every single time, the Royal Family threads are about racism now.

Any idea where those of us who are interested in the royal family can go?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 10/09/2023 09:01

As I said before, it’s an anonymous forum, people can and do claim to be all kinds of things, skepticism is healthy.

You have repeatedly said this only to black posters. If I repeatedly said this to you, and only you, you would be the first person to accuse me of anti semitism.

Our experience wouldn't be the same as yours because you are not black. Its very different being black and being jewish. That is not suggesting there is a hierarchy, thats simply saying you cannot know what its like being black and therefore shouldn't cast aspersions on black posters and repeatedly suggest they're lying. You have minimised racism against black people before and you often raise a story of anti semitism to deflect.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 10/09/2023 09:03

NO. The poster said we were 'promoting' it. We were not the ones to raise Megan's family. Someone else did and the mere mention of the fact they are racist has been met with a barrage of complaints against black posters for talking about racism. Unbelievable.

LadyKenya · 10/09/2023 09:11

There have been some outrageous things being said to black posters on here. Those who are finding us objecting to the racism that is happening, tedious, it is too bad. We would not have to talk about it, if it was not happening.

Some could say it is a bit suspicious that it keeps being referred to on here.

Absolutely not. If posters would just stop saying Meghan should be in touch with her family, how she drops people for no reason, how her Dad hasnt done anything wrong, how posters feel sorry for him blah blah... there would be no reason to talk of the vile Youtube stuff as the reason she doesn't talk to her family.

Don't you get that? I've said it about five times, no one ever acknowledges this. And the white supremacist scenario you are suggesting is really quite awful.

I hope you find a nice safe space for you. I notice the threads about the Queen’s last appearance, the Invictus Ceremony, criticism of Harry by a veteran, Heart of Invictus being a flop seem to have many of the same people on those threads in some of the threads that you’re discussing and somehow there has been no discussion of racism in them. Wonder why.
