"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her."

He is referring to the Queen.

Is he saying this is why he is not at Balmoral with the rest of the RF? Is this what he means by "going to her"?

Yes, it's not all a one way street where we all agree, some of us can view things as projecting and can consider it an agenda, in the same way that others see things as being denigrating because we are referencing situations that are anti semitic or mixed race rather than black.

LadyKenya · 09/09/2023 20:13

Good call@skullbabe . Enjoy!

Agree - ridiculous! Remind me what is it he does for a living now?

I mean he's still a member of the Royal Family. None of them do anything for a living. They just exist. If they sat around eating peeled grapes all day they would still be there. They do some charity work to justify their existence and for the adulation from the press. Harry is not asking for taxpayers money. And he is not expecting to be Head of State just by virtue of being born. He can do what he likes with his own money.

Thats your perspective on black women being denigrated, it appears to me that seems to be your constant agenda, I don't know how you can come up with that from this particular thread.

There are two of us who feel very sympathetic and horrified atPrincessTiggers experience, I don't think that should be minimised just because she says she is Jewish and not Black.

Edited

Nobody is minimising that experience. Its being used by a poster who is minimising ours, as has happened before. After first saying we overstate our experiences of racism or perhaps even make them up entirely because they do not match their experience despite not being black themselves, then a horrific example of anti semitism is used here to minimise our experiences.

What has just happened is racism against black women by someone who is not black and can't speak to what that it is like themselves. This is not the first time or even the first time this week that racism has happened on this board, then been ignored, minimised and outright denied.

I have northing more to say to people that do this.

ArcaneWireless · 09/09/2023 20:58

Make that three. Her experience is shameful and horrific.

I don’t see why Tigger’s experiences should not be acknowledged.

It doesn’t lessen my experiences of racism and the discussions I’ve had regarding that. Or that of others. It doesn’t lessen my experience of discrimination, prejudice and on one occasion, violence. I have not, however, had cars driving down my street threatening violence and rape to me and mine.

It doesn’t stop me being sympathetic to anyone else who experiences it.

All racism is abhorrent.

While I agree that there is a large problem with racism in this country (as skullbabe’s examples attest) and probably the world over, I don't think for a moment it is limited to those who are black.

I would not deny or downplay anyone’s experience.

I confess I will not go diving for the more extreme rants on the internet. Not because I’m denying it happens. I just don’t want to see that level of hate (again). It disgusts me and I will not actively seek it out. I know it is there. That is bad enough.

If MM has that from her family then my heart goes out to her. Shame on them.

Thank you… sometimes it’s not taken as seriously even though the consequences can be just as serious, with people like my brother getting hurt & many more too afraid to leave their homes

Re: MM it’s her half-siblings that are the culprits… I don’t know which of them is worse. Not surprised they are not on speaking terms.

Maireas · 09/09/2023 21:07

I'm sorry to hear of your experiences as well, @ArcaneWireless . Very distressing. Excellent points made, and I concur totally.

Maireas · 09/09/2023 21:08

True about those Markle siblings. Who on earth would give credibility to them. Good grief..

I can also point out that a similar thing happened to me just because I am the white mother in a mixed race family (although by only two or three posters, let me add)

skullbabe · 09/09/2023 21:16

There it is. @MrsMaxDeWinter called it.

themessygarden · 09/09/2023 21:21

Racism can be colour blind.

skullbabe · 09/09/2023 21:24

Agreed. Perhaps you should imagine that the posters who are objecting to the poster who has been subject to awful misogynistic and antisemitic acts have also themselves had the same happen to them. But notice that no one has said to the poster who has had awful antisemitism and misogyny directed towards them that their experiences were alien to all of us. Not one of the anonymous black posters have at all minimised their experiences but have actually demonstrated just how that posters experiences have been

  1. believed
  2. empathised with and sympathised with
  3. a courtesy which had not been afforded to people who have objected to her posting to that other peoples’ experiences and actual data as being alien to her
themessygarden · 09/09/2023 21:30

I should add, I am a white IRISH mother in a mixed race family, just to really add a curve ball.

PrincessOfTigger · 09/09/2023 21:32

This is getting silly now. If you want to argue with someone who thinks those things, then go and find someone. But it’s such a sensitive subject that you shouldn’t be trying to project the opposite of what you want to say onto a random person. Anyway thanks to the people who have been kind… hopefully you can see why I would prefer the subject be taken a bit more seriously.

Absolutely, racism is racism, no matter what your race is. Despite some posters believing there is a hierarchy to it. Who knows why their perspective is so myopic

I call BINGO on the thread🤣! (Sorry for being silly - on the Prosecco and Proms and a party is going on in my house).

Yep - unlike the non serious racism we experience that is alien to you. Got it.

I guess I should have been clearer, I am saying I have been subject to racism and colorism on here (by two or three posters). as the Irish white wife of an African man and the white mother of mixed race children, so your bingo is a false card. Sorry to have to be the the bearer of bad news and to re emphasis that not only black women are subject to micro aggressions and racism.

I see somebody thinks this is amusing which I will be ignoring but it might surprise people to know that in the UK the highest proportion of victims of racial/religious hate crimes by race are white - the majority of which of course are people born outside of the UK who are targeted with xenophobic hate crimes. I’m sure they feel the same as victims of antisemitic hate crimes, no better. Another subject that doesn’t get taken seriously enough. A version of anti-racism that doesn’t include supporting victims of antisemitism, anti-Irish, anti-traveller, anti-Roma, xenophobia or religious discrimination is kind of useless.

LadyKenya · 09/09/2023 21:52

Anyway I insist that you go back to your party@skullbabe . Be sure to share out the bubbly that I have sent you😁. I am retiring for the night, the heat is knocking me out.😴

ThreeBearsPorridge · 09/09/2023 21:54

I find it interesting that Meghan has now been taken off the programme for Invictus. Doesn’t look like she will attend after all. Harry seems to be doing his own thing all the time alone. When they go out they always seem to have a third party present . A far cry from the ‘young lovers’ image they enjoyed projecting. Clinging to each other and back rubbing .Changed days.

PrincessOfTigger · 09/09/2023 21:56

Oh that’s disappointing I was looking forward to seeing her ☹️
