Why did it come up today? Because someone was criticising Meghan for not having anything to do with them. Nobody posted the video. It is mentioned when her family is raised as evidence she is bad in some way. So it's entirely relevant to counter that with, but that family is racist. The idea that mentioning it is a problem, while people discuss the fact she has nothing to do with them, is frankly absurd. Of course we should talk about her racist family. If people stopped using her family as an example of her being unable to get along with people, it wouldn't be mentioned.

Ignoring racism doesn't make it go away. I think it's really offensive to suggest people of colour talking about an example of racism is 'promoting' it.

Let me explain where I am coming from, we are a mixed race family, my eldest daughter has a similar look to MM.

Now, if one of our family made disgusting comments about my husband and his race, or made a racist video channel making fun of either of my daughters appearance or skin colour, I can tell you there is no way I, my husband or daughters, would want anyone giving oxygen to that.

It doesn't matter if it is coming from a 'supportive' place by pointing out how racist some of my family are. By repeatedly referring to that as an example of how horrible they are, it is sadly giving a platform to ignorant people who really should not have any platform at all.

No, this does not make any sense. You think ignoring it and not mentioning it somehow resolves something. It makes it all worse.

Nobody is promoting it. We are pointing out it happened, they're racist. You're saying we shouldn't point out they're racist, therefore you are telling us to pretend that racism doesn't exist. That is what is meant by a micro aggression. You may think you're not being racist, but you are enabling it. Denial of racism or not mentioning it and telling others not to mention it, enables it.

If they stopped that I'd never ever again feel the need to explain WHY she is NC and it would be consigned to garbage. But that doesn't happen sadly. She is criticised for being NC hence having to explain.
