I know little about him. He doesn't figure on my horizon.

You might not

Others love his hateful rhetoric

Mycatisthebestever · 11/09/2023 11:29

@MissElinorDashwood I think that your use of the "Daily Heil" is offensive especially in the light that you know at least one poster yesterday was talking about being Jewish. I know the phrase and I know where to comes from - no need to explain.

I didn’t see those messages but if it offends he/she then apologies.

It is regularly used by Jewish people in my social circle, but I don’t know enough to say that it’s not offensive to all Jewish people so I will refrain from using it here.

I will use The Daily Fascist instead.

themessygarden · 11/09/2023 13:00

It's not just the lack of UK media reporting it though (it's not being reported in my part of Europe either). Sadly, it doesn't seem to have garnered much of a live audience either, even though the tickets are being issued free.

I don't believe the lack of general interest is due to Harrys involvement It is a very niche event, even within the forces not every veteran will be an elite sportsperson or aspire to be, in an effort to deal with their trauma.

The participating veterans love Harry's involvement and he can be very proud of that.

Mycatisthebestever · 11/09/2023 13:06

There's certainly coverage of it on the Royal page.

Thanks 👍🏽

To be honest I am kind of used to it but it’s always best to err on the side of caution.

Mycatisthebestever · 11/09/2023 13:20

@PrincessOfTigger people should not have to get used to it and as you know this is never very far from the surface - eg emerging in sports.

I have no idea what residency citizenship that man has - though would point out currently Australia does have our Monarch as their head of state

I know that. But ,heritage has been questioned on these threads suggesting that if you're not british you really dont understand

Edited

Perceptions will vary base on our experiences - but I think commonwealth countries with head of state in common and similar parliamentary systems are going to understand more than say USA citizen - because if affects them more and it's a system with more commonalities.

Apparently Yes Minister India version played well because we left a similar system in place after we got kicked out.

I only recently learned about Malaysia the only country to operate under a rotational constitutional monarchy - I've no idea how that operates in practise.

There a lot of you tubers who live in different countries to where they were raised and they point out how much is context driven - stuff many don't question till they see people not doing it or get asked why. I don't think it make their views lesser - but just different and often very interesting because of that.

The Invictus games are getting coverage - no mean feat in a really busy news cycle at moment. I think posts claiming otherwise are diminishing the hard bloody work behind getting that.

Yes I saw that. But it seems to be 5 years old. The last one they acknowledged was Sydney in 2018. I couldn’t find anything re later games, but I’m happy to be corrected, it would be nice if Royal Family gave a shout out to the Veterans.

I think they must be fans of The Sun and Talk TV.

Yet again a poster is adding 2 + 2 and making 10
Please do point where anyone has said that they read every article he writes

No I don't watch him on GB News, to be frank I would rather plant 1000 cockroach eggs in my ear hole
Ditto his articles.
But that doesn't mean to say I am not aware of the sort of words and rhetoric he spouts

And I know about what he's been up to as far as blackmail and coercion. I like to be aware of what goes on

I wonder if it is because he isn't a working Royal now ( not sure of the dates though) and he has his own sites?

Absolutely.

If that's the case it is no different than posters hunting high and low for anything negative they can bring up about the couple

EasternStandard · 11/09/2023 13:41

I can see why HE got more coverage than DW

Firstly lower numbers know about him, you’d have to watch GB News and same as pp we haven’t so I only know his name through mn

Also HE had that extra BBC persona where he was highly thought of

'that's the case it is no different than posters hunting high and low for anything negative they can bring up about the couple'

Tbf we don't need to hunt Harold provides all the info himself such as statements about alleged near catastrophic car chases etc, chat shows, many many media interviews, books. Who has to hunt?

Janiie · 11/09/2023 13:53

' I will use The Daily Fascist instead'

Why do you use such an offensive term? Fascism caused so much death and destruction in ww2. The Daily Mail is a newspaper like all the rest.

Disagree given some of the ridiculous criticisms

I'm not sure many residents of Northern Ireland and Scotland share the same view of "British heritage"

Moving to Wales (land of some of my ancestors ) certainly opened my eyes and gave me a difference experience - but there is still a common heritage even with NI and Scotland as well as many differences.

Even within England there would be a difference in view of "British heritage" - within Cornwall, London, Liverpool - wider regions like Midlands to North vs Southern as different areas have different history, politics and cultures and even linguistic differences.

I'm sure that is true for many countries with complex histories of breakups and unifications with modern politics thrown on top.

AuroraCake · 11/09/2023 14:56

They do. All the time.

It's about the heritage and the centuries that have gone before that have brought us to where we are today. Of course there are the Scottish and Welsh independence movements. You may recall Scotland voted against that. I'm not up on NI plus they had their own bitter battle with the rest of Ireland and the UK which I'm sure affects that. It doesn't affect the fact that the UK heritage and experience is wholly different from say that of the Commonwealth countries. Many Commonwealth countries do carry a great deal of respect certainly for the Queen even although independent. Of course these countries are changing as their populations age and they battle their own current day problems.
