The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

Just because people say things assertively does not make them true - for example

On the Netflix series the accusation by Christopher Bouzy that bots were responsible for all the anti Meghan and Harry sentiment has been disproven and the man discredited.

This is not true

It fact he has been exposed as the originator of anti William and kate tweets.

Again - nuance is important. He has been not complimentary of them in the handful of occasions he has tweeted about them (and honestly I think commenting on people’s looks is really not ok - I won’t repeat them here)

He was banned from twitter at some point.

Not true.

So CB created a narrative that a huge number of 'bots' were responsible for anti Meghan sentiment without any real evidence, so I don't see any evidence on this Netflix trailer.

So no. I followed Bot Sentinel just after the 2016 presidential election when analysis of activity of bad online actors in the age of Trump started to come about and then I followed Bouzy himself shortly after. If you read the Bot Sentinel reports about Meghan, Kamala and Amber - there is indeed some bot activity discussed but he also discusses co-ordinated hate campaigns and how people in social media make money from this especially on YouTube.

And no - I don’t think the negative comments on the trailer are bots. I think as I’ve said before - Harry and especially Meghan have become pantomime villains where the prevailing ethos is to minimise anything positive they do and to vilify everything else. In this environment there is nothing Meghan especially can do that will be viewed neutrally or positively - coming with Harry to visit WellChild in the UK - making it about her, not coming - snubbing the charity and snubbing the UK, going to Invictus - making about her, not going - is she separating from Harry, dressing well - making things her fashion show, rewearing/recycling clothes - not respecting the people enough to take care with her presentation. Rinse and repeat.

Back to the topic though - I’m looking forward to the games. The Twitter chatter from the athletes is really positive and there seems to be a really good atmosphere from the games themselves. The series looks good and the stories will be compelling (as they should be).

This is just a load of tabloid nonsense. And yes, they DO lie. Stop being so gullible.

Harry, who has dishonoured these servicemen and women

This is digusting and no such thing happened.

The royal foundation paid a significant amount to start the Invictus games

Prince Harry founded the royal foundation with his brother in 2009.

The negative comments on the YouTube trailer show what normal people feel about Harry's involvement.

Normal people don't write the kind of nasty hateful comments I saw. How revolting to spend your time bringing negativity to something that has brought so much positivity to people that need it. Revolting.

"This series explores the origins of the Invictus Games, the international sporting event for wounded veterans that Harry launched in 2014 when he wasn’t the populist right’s favourite public punchbag. It’s actually the story of a very worthy enterprise which, on the basis of most of the moving testimony here, has given renewed strength and purpose to many people. The 2023 games take place in September and it’s an institution worth celebrating."

The entire royal family are rich entitled people making money off charity work. If you're not complaining about that, I have no more time for this nastiness.

The veterans deserve a documentary and what better person to help make it than the founder of the games. I can;t wait for it.

skullbabe · 26/08/2023 10:18

Harry earns a 6 figure salary from mental health online company BetterUp. This year they announced an affiliation with the Invictus games (I posted a link). This company treats its employees appallingly and recently sacked many of them while paying Harry for basically doing what a royal does. Turn up, give a speech and do nothing else. An employee said Harry's contribution 'wasn't worth the squeeze'.

Sounds terrible. I think the employee should address their complaint of another employees output to Alexi Robichaux the CEO and the Board.

As an affiliated company Harry is making money twice over. it's a fact.

And if there is no issue in his contracts preventing this - not sure what exactly the issue here is.

Netflix has apparently withdrawn the trailer from their twitter account following multiple negative comments.

Not true

Bot Sentinal had their account temporarily suspended by Elon Musk

Yes - Bot Sentinal’s account was suspended because of a dispute about API access (and paying for it). So again not because of what Bot Sentinal does. Elon has also suspended accounts for rival social media companies and journalists who were tweeting about his jet. Bastion of free enterprise and speech that he is - very interesting position for him to take no?

Twitter have also investigated CBs claims and disproved the extent of BS claims

No they said it found no evidence of “widespread coordination, the use of multiple accounts by single people, or other platform manipulation tactics.”. It did not say that there were not 83 accounts that were behind 70 percent of the more virulently anti-Sussex tweets which had more than 187,000 combined followers and an extensive cross pollination with other platforms for the period that was investigated. It’s also interesting how many people ignore the YouTube connection and how many accounts were quietly blocked or demonetised after that report. It’s also interesting how many have ignored the Kamala Harris reports that said similar. (Purposely not going to talk about Amber Heard because that report was commissioned). It’s a classic case of shooting the messenger.

If Harry and Meghan didn't want to open themselves up to scrutiny and criticism, perhaps they should have rethought their exit strategy?

Yep - leaving as working Royals meant that every move should scrutinised though a lens of abject malevolence. Narrating and presenting on a documentary on a topic on which he, a veteran, has had a long association with - terrible.

Anyway - just checked - there will be 5 episodes. Hopefully all the people
who can’t stand him will drive up viewing figures just like they did for Harry and Meghan. 🤣

This amused me, given that being a working Royal also means that their every move is scrutinised through a lens of abject malevolence. It’s an excellent description of the tone of much of this board, in fact, towards all parties being discussed.

Sorry but no. Being really uncharitable about someone’s appearance (because that’s what he actually did) is nowhere near to the bad faith intent ascribed to Harry and Meghan in everything (and I mean everything )they do.

I thought we were stopping with unsubstantiated rumours? I think its unkind to turn this thread into a bashing Harry thread. Its about a really good cause and some really amazing athletes and veterans. Harry is just one part of the team who made this documentary, but the story is about the athletes and all this nasty talk is an insult to them and their hard work. If anyone made this documentary they would make money, its how the world works, that does;t make it a bad thing to do and without someone doing it, these stories wouldn't be told at all. Invictus are joint producers and will benefit enormously.

Unfortunately yes, Harry is double dipping when it comes to making money from Invictus

Again, you have no evidence of any of this and just keep repeating your own thoughts. False tabloid or twitter gossip.

Anyone who thinks Harry is a good poster boy for mental health

I have had mental health issues for a decade now and I find this kind of comment really damaging. Nobody is a 'poster boy' for mental health, the phrase is awful. Harry has helped a lot of people and his story resonates with many who have grown up in difficult families, lost a parent, struggled to process and made mistakes as they have healed. I find it deplorable the way his mental health is used as a stick to beat him with.

I look forward to watching this, and I hope the nastiness around it ends. The intention is of course to try and ruin anything Harry does, but they're hurting way more people and showing themselves to be quite awful in the process.

👏👏👏

Janiie · 26/08/2023 17:13

'these games are for the most horribly wounded/damaged defenders of the land.'

Yes and a lesson to us all on triumph over adversity, positivity and determination. How to accept one's weaknesses but not let it define us. Not to wallow in bitterness and resentment. I wonder when Harry will be inspired by them and try to become a better person himself, leave all the waaah waaahs behind?

Angrycat2768 · 26/08/2023 17:25

I think Harry's biggest mistake was thinking he could change the Royal Family and change the press. He should have just taken his family, left and done things like this documentary and one on Sentebale. When he took on the press, it was open season, and they would never leave him alone. Anything he does now is going to be tainted by selective reporting and accusations. I haven't read 'Spare' but apparently it is quite a compelling read, and he does not trash his family, more the courtiers and the press, but of course the press wont report that. Again, with the Oprah interview, the accusations against the press are ignored. But he cannot win a battle with the press, especially when he knows full well that the relationship between the Palace and the press is symbiotic. He has done some silly things, and I did think less of him when he insisted his children were titled Prince and Princess' even though they live in the US where titles are not recognised. Even using Lilibet as a name was stupid. Why use it when it was obviously going to cause ructions and they don't intend to use it as her name ( possibly because its an awful name and completely useless for an adult woman)

I don’t necessarily think that IS fair though - trashing courtiers, in other words staff, his subordinates, without the money and platform to defend themselves that he has

Harry attacked his country and his country's honour on his Netflix documentary,
He wrote a book about his life. The only attack in that book was on the tabloid media and the hold it has over his family and the country.

which also provoked a lot of response from servicemen and women who don't talk about the enemy in those disrespectful terms.

A rather sweeping statement! Some do. Some don't.

That's the institution and country Harry and his DW slagged off for 2 years, lowering them both in the eyes of the world.

Again - could you bring a little evidence of them slagging off Britan? And slagging off the institution of Monarchy?

it's because of his behaviour and sustained attacks on his country

Those attacks on his country again - can you show me just one? "Cause try as I might I cannot find them!

Serenster · 27/08/2023 09:09

Did you not watch Harry an Meghan on Netflix then? A whole episode of that show was dedicated to criticising the culture, history and people of the UK.

Also since leaving the Royal Family Harry has described the Uk as being judged as being at rock bottom (“our country is judged globally by the state of our press and our government, both of which I believe are at rock bottom”) with the most credulous people on the planet. He also said that his family is “part of the problem” when it comes to racism in Britain.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 27/08/2023 09:28

A whole episode of that show was dedicated to criticising the culture, history and people of the UK.

And? So what? If its valid criticism, so what? If you are all so angry because someone dared to criticise their country for the wrong things it has done, then that says a lot more about you than the producers who made the series and were responsible for that. Even if Harry had said it word for word himself, he's allowed. We are all allowed to criticise our country when it deserves to be. How the fuck do you think we stop doing bad things? How do you think we stopped slavery? People stood up and said, this is awful.

Out of all the criticisms thats the weakest one. Reacting to someone criticising a nation responsible for so much wrongdoing in this way is honestly just shameful.

He also said that his family is “part of the problem” when it comes to racism in Britain.

It is. A lot of people of colour agree with this.

Serenster · 27/08/2023 09:45

And? So what? If its valid criticism, so what?

The question wasn’t “Was the criticism valid?” though. It was “has Harry ever attacked the UK?”. It was being very strongly asserted by IAMStarving that he hadn’t. Which is clearly not true.

That is the only question I was answering.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 27/08/2023 09:51

Valid criticism about the history of the UK contained within a programme, is not Harry 'attacking his country and his country's honour' which is what @IamSTARVING was responding to. You think he attacked his country, we do not. While near having actually apologised, William and Charles possibly too, have spoken about the country's history especially around slavery and colonisation so if they can acknowledge the past wrongs its fine for a series about Harry too also. Nobody is 'attacking their country' when they do this.

Serenster · 27/08/2023 09:56

Nobody is 'attacking their country' when they do this.

Quite obviously, people will have quite different views on this point. Especially when the person involved is determined to continue to call himself and his children Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom, and is fighting in court for the citizens of that country to pay his expenses.
