He got paid £360k for wandering around the world being a racist!!! Fuck me they truly do milk the cow don’t they 😳.

Camilla is not going to be paid - how will she get by? 🙄

I am shining my light on both PP and PH using racist terminology and both should be equally held to account for it. And both apologies being accepted rather than just one.

What I find interesting is folk reading all kinds of everything into
a post which says nothing of the sort.

Perhaps you want to shine a light on what I’m actually typing instead of making up your own version of it?

🔦 ☀️ 🕯

One lived to be an old man.

The other still alive.

We can compare the two when they are dead - see who did what better/worse.

But hey - shine on

Canthave2manycats · 20/07/2023 15:39

"Usually done by women.

As usual, not paid."

Probably because the majority of our PMs are men, n'est ce pas?

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 15:43

Thank you @jeffgoldblum

It is good to know that some are seeing actual words.

Instead of seeing words that aren’t there which is getting to be par for the course.

It’ll be claims of this next…

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 15:45
bruce willis i see dead people GIF

Which could of course be interesting to some who want to wait to compare them when both are deceased. We can do it now.

But hey. Shine on. 😉

Canthave2manycats · 20/07/2023 15:37

It's a silly comparison. The spouses of the PM are quite free to follow their own career. The Duke of Edinburgh was not. He was a fiercely independent naval man. I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to have to go running to HM every time he needed a fiver!

Surely a "fiercely independant naval man" is contradicted entirely by the the notion that her married a Queen and was a kept man.

He knew very well what he was signing up for.

He was not some innocent young virgin.

He was incredibly ambitious - and within his class, having the blood line he did but no pot to piss in - marrying the Queen of England was one of the highest achievemnets he could have had.

It was smart.

It was stategic..

He understood the game, played it well and took lots for the team.

Put he lived bloody well and was well compensated for his efforts.

Why are we trying to create a bloody martyr?

Exactly!

And ambassadors/diplomats/ministers etc.

When the men do the role - ie DoE - they get paid.

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 15:50

He knew very well what he was signing up for.

Fair point.

And that could be said about anyone marrying into the royal family.

Except it isn’t taken well when you point out that others recently marrying into the RF protested otherwise. 🤷🏻‍♀️

jeffgoldblum · 20/07/2023 15:56

@FlouncetteLaFroth 🤣 " what ! , in graves and cemeteries? "
" no! , walking about like regular people, they don't know they're dead! "
( sorry favourite film!)

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 15:58

That’s the ones Jeff 😁

Although we’ll be told shortly that dead royals aren’t regular people… and we are derailing 😉

derxa · 20/07/2023 15:59

the Queen of England Not this again

jeffgoldblum · 20/07/2023 16:01

Your probably right @FlouncetteLaFroth !
A different class of dead people no doubt, and derailing seems to be ok depending on who does it and what the subject matter is! 🤷‍♀️

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 16:02

derxa

I know. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am not so sure that is fair @FlouncetteLaFroth

He was a royal line. He was around it and in itnfrom the day he was born. Mountbatten whispered in his ear from a very young age - coaching him.

It would be very different for a plebian going in. Look at how long it took PoW to find her feet, she just started in college. Sophie too. And of course MM.

None of them had the protections that DoE had in the beginning. Partly because he was able - to a degree - claim equality through bloodine.

And that really matters in that society.

jeffgoldblum · 20/07/2023 16:05

His early life was very tragic and traumatic, not sure it helped him being born royal, it was the cause of a lot of his early treatment.

That really is some stretch!!

He fell in love???

FlouncetteLaFroth · 20/07/2023 16:33

I understand your point starving

He will have known what it was like - to a level.

With all the Lady Diana hooha though, I think it would have been incredibly blinkered/naive (at best) to think that the press intrusion, expectations, protocol and everything else would have passed newer royals by. Chelsy decided it wasn’t for her. Others decided it was.

Would I complain about the negative sides of it if it were me? I’d be singing like a lintie probably flower. Just maybe not in public. Because I couldn’t in all honesty say it was unexpected.

Not that anyone would want a fat brown total with multiple chins and an arse the size of Sandringham anyway.

The equality? Again, PP being of royal descent it might be expected privately. I reckon it may well have been so - although I like to think of the late Queen pulling the Queen card out for Phillip to rub her feet or whatever! In public though? He was never King - not even in name - and followed the late Queen.

I would also like to think of it as a love match really. Although that comes with caveats I think in those circles. It certainly seems that way.

I cast my net knowing that the press aren’t going to snap me with my chins and arse all of a-wiggle. And am grateful it isn’t me who is living their lives.

Maireas · 20/07/2023 17:22

arse the size of Sandringham 😂
Yes, 73 years married, always walking a step behind, always supporting. I think for a man of his age and background that must have been a challenge. Philip always realised it wasn't about him, saying that all the fame, attention and cheering wasn't really about him, but his role. He maintained that role for all those years.

upinaballoon · 20/07/2023 17:24

Was the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme barred to people who were regarded as black or yellow or not Caucasian?

I don't think the late Queen and Prince Philip lived seperately or even separately for years. Was that on Twitter/ The Crown? (No, it was on Mumsnet). In his last few years he spent time at Sandringham, having been interested in the estate for decades, on the phone to HM every day and back to Windsor at weekends.

Roussette · 20/07/2023 17:27

on the phone to HM every day and back to Windsor at weekends.

How on earth do people know these things?

IamSTARVING · 20/07/2023 17:40

jeffgoldblum · 20/07/2023 16:05

His early life was very tragic and traumatic, not sure it helped him being born royal, it was the cause of a lot of his early treatment.

His begining in life was truly heart breaking.

I would think that the majority of people in the world have a heartbreaking begining through wars, famines, poverty etc.

With that in mind it turned out really bloody well for him.

I do not mean to reduce him in any way but at he same time we should not sint him. He was a man of extreme wealth for the majority of his life who got a ton of money from the public purse in secret.

jeffgoldblum · 20/07/2023 17:42

He was neither saint nor sinner , just a flawed human the same as us , his position made him more visible.
