Omid Scobie writing tell all book

1000 replies

CosmosQueen · 29/06/2023 07:23

The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexwarned that his next book will reveal moments that the Royal family should be “ashamed of”.
Omid Scobie claimed he was one of few journalists writing about the Royal family whose work was impartial and “spin-free”

As such, he said his forthcoming book, provocatively titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, would focus on the negative as much as the positive and would shine a light on “unsolved mysteries”
“Endgame not only looks at the successes of our Royal family but also the failures; the things to be proud of and those they should be ashamed of,” he wrote in the I newspaper

Just when will this end? I feel so sorry for their poor children who will have to live with the knowledge that their parents and his obnoxious individual were prepared to do anything to make money.

My point was simply I cannot forget the hurt because someone says old news move on

Really? How long do you typically hold on to that? I suggest talking to someone about it, it does you no good not to let stuff go and move on with your life.

It doesn't consume my life by any means. I'm now happily married but I can't simply 'forget'. Human emotions just don't work like that. The harm done will always have repercussions. That life.

You should move on and not think about things you cannot change.

Thanks for the fortune cookie tip I'll bear it in mind

Iwantcakeeveryday · 13/07/2023 09:19

Somehow I doubt that

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 09:19

Maybe you should write it on a banana

Samcro · 13/07/2023 09:25

18 pages about a book that no one has seen yet again read.
same old suspects re hashing old stuff, calling other posters dishonest if they don't like the post, and now dotty posts about bananas.
nothing new so just rehash very old news.

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 09:28

@Samcro It's not obligatory to read these posts you know?

They want to be talked about day in and day out. That much is obvious. They could have chosen to go off into the sunset and live their lives quietly and privately. They chose to push themselves into the public area at every opportunity. Especially when the RF are in the news , by some coincidence !
They set themselves up as moral arbiters and don’t miss any opportunity to lecture from their pulpit. That opens them up to scrutiny. They are highly critical of others and extremely smug .

I really don’t think they want to be talked about every day as the following excellent statement from Meghan explained when she responded to another fabricated story about her in the Telegraph :

"The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago," the spokesperson said. "Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous. We encourage tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating."

^^ I think that says it all really!

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 09:43

@Cherrymuffincake202 She is clearly going about her life as normal. Her normal being to embellish and exaggerate just about everything with their near catastrophic car chase.

They were concerned for pedestrians. I think that's a valid concern. Sophies motorcade just killed a woman so the risk of paps hurting someone in their frenzy is very real. I don't think that should be mocked or laughed about.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 13/07/2023 09:45

How long ago was that now? Again, nothing to do with the book? Just rehash same old thing yeah?

It was 2 months ago. Are we all supposed to suffer with short term memory loss just to buy into the Sussex drama narrative?

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 09:55

We don't have to stick religiously to the OP you know? Another thread is discussing at length TV shows from the dark ages lol

StartupRepair · 13/07/2023 10:02

Surely Scobie's book will be a rehash of the past. What else can it be?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2023 10:03

No one here is shaming her mental health

And a damned good thing too, though possibly some of that is because we don't know what her mental health was or is like, nor frankly is it any of our business

As ever, someone telling us something doesn't necessarily mean it's true - especially when they have form for a loose relationship with the truth

Puzzled... I feel that is so unfair. You may as well say she lied about her MH. Because that's what you've hinted at in not so many words. And I think that is wrong.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2023 10:22

As ever I respect your view, Roussette, though I'd add there's a difference between declaring something to be a lie and simply noting that we can't know if it is or not ... and the second is as far as I'm ever prepared to go unless there's proof one way or the other

Yes and that is being done by thousands of people all the time, to Meghan, but to all of us who have this kind of problem. It's not just unfair, it's dangerous.

well that's a set too far when you're talking about mental health and suicidal thoughts.

Howsimplywonderful · 13/07/2023 10:28

We don’t know what happened with Meghan’s mental health, but Harry should have moved heaven and earth to get her the help she needed. He should have been her advocate when she wasn’t strong enough to advocate for herself

I’m not comfortable discussing MH any further than that though.

yes and he did not deal with it well in one moment, but he then gave up his entire life to help her, and himself and their family, by leaving. I think that's doing exactly what you think he should do.

I don't mean to nitpick but we could say that about absolutely anything. All the RF say... they could be lying, because we don't know!
I do think if someone expresses a big struggle with their MH, we should err on the side of acceptance of what they are feeling. Providing proof is a bit Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2023 10:34

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that then, Iwantcakeeveryday, though I'm very much with you about the potential dangers of brushing aside MH issues or discouraging people from talking about them

That's the general principle though, and in this particular case the circumstances may have been as described or they may not - I simply don't know, and am certainly not going to make assumptions on the back of a narrative from folk who've been shown to be less than reliable

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/07/2023 10:37

Absolutely, Roussette, and as I'm sure you've noted that's precisely the position I take with much of what comes from the RF - in fact more so with them that most because they have the resources and the conveniently bent laws to support it
