Omid Scobie writing tell all book

CosmosQueen · 29/06/2023 07:23

The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexwarned that his next book will reveal moments that the Royal family should be “ashamed of”.
Omid Scobie claimed he was one of few journalists writing about the Royal family whose work was impartial and “spin-free”

As such, he said his forthcoming book, provocatively titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, would focus on the negative as much as the positive and would shine a light on “unsolved mysteries”
“Endgame not only looks at the successes of our Royal family but also the failures; the things to be proud of and those they should be ashamed of,” he wrote in the I newspaper

Just when will this end? I feel so sorry for their poor children who will have to live with the knowledge that their parents and his obnoxious individual were prepared to do anything to make money.

I’m betting on this book containing a whole raft of allegations that contradict previous allegations, and make some new accusations about why their business deals are going down the pan.

I wonder if Scobie will include that they - and possibly Netflix - are being sued for defamation by Shallon Lester? She’s not my cup of tea, but she’s relatively ‘big’ in the US and rapid-fire articulate.

You didn't answer my question though. Where do you think any of his information comes from of not directly from Harry and Meghan?

Sorry, I didn't realise you were actually asking me something, I was too busy deliberating on my lack of common sense 😂

Scobie has been a royal correspondent for US weekly, Harpers Bazaar, ABC for a number of years, well before H&M married. I presume he is like other RR's and gets info where he can. Not all RR's have to be in that reliant on each other relationship with the RF, he has chosen his path and this book might well be interesting.

Highandlows · 29/06/2023 08:25

The guy is repulsive to say the least. This is of course expected. Hope the book is a failure.

Howsimplywonderful · 29/06/2023 08:27

He’s a terrible writer, so good luck to anyone who wants to plough through it. I’m afraid he peaked in Heat Magazine. Judging his past work it’s Harry’s and Meghan’s words with a touch of bile

If posters are so open to not judging a book before reading it , perhaps they should follow their own logic and read the Valentine Low and Tom Bowyers book😄

So you genuinely believe him when he says he is impartial and his content is spin free then? You don't believe at all that he gets his information directly from Harry and at times Meghan?

I just find it hard to believe anyone can think he is going to be giving equal impartial consideration to both sides in his book when he is so obviously not interested in both sides.

Roussette · 29/06/2023 08:30

Repulsive? Really?

I watched the BBC programme about the Princes and the Press and he came across a helluva lot better than some of the RRs on there. He was measured and informative. I was pleasantly surprised.
But obviously if you loathe Harry, you will find him 'repulsive' as he has a different view.

I will let you know when I read the book. But as I have 'no common sense' I cannot comment on his impartiality, can I?

Interested in both sides? Ingrid Seward, Dickie Arbiter, Angela Levin... are they interested in both sides?
Don't think so! 2 of those spent 30 minutes talking about the OW interview before it had even been screened! That's lack of impartiality if you ask me!

LolaSmiles · 29/06/2023 08:33

A book that critiques the monarchy as an institution over time that's interesting and factual? I'd probably read it.

A book that's likely to be full of he said, she said... Sources say and be not much more than tabloid gossip, written by someone who seems to have spent several years taking sides in a family spat? I'll probably give it a miss.

I might be being unfair to Scobie, but the only time I seem to see his name is when it's either something about Harry and Meghan or him acting like he's the best royal writer there's ever been.

Highandlows · 29/06/2023 08:36

Or if you want to destroy the RF you would not find him repulsive?

MrsFinkelstein · 29/06/2023 08:49

Maireas · 29/06/2023 07:51

I think it's fine questioning the role of the monarchy, and it's relevance in the 21st century. I think some people mistake Harry and Meghan's actions as those of anti monarchists or republicans, when really they're royalists with a personal axe to grind.

Exactly my point. I said this a couple of months ago, but if you support H&M you're absolutely not a Republican. You're a Royalist. A Royalist who supports 1 camp. A camp of people who you only are aware of because 1 is a Prince and the other married him.

A Republican wouldn't support any of them.

SeeingSpots · 29/06/2023 08:59

Well no honestly if someone thinks that he is impartial then I would argue they absolutely don't have common sense. If you think he is impartial then yes I'd put you in that category.

He clearly only values the opinion of one side which means his book cannot possibly be impartial, not sure we need to wait to read it to see that. Although if he considered both sides of the argument I'd happily read it but what's the point of he's bias to one side?

themessygarden · 29/06/2023 09:01

Omid Scobie has a lovely speaking voice and appears to be very articulate, however he is as biased as any other Royal Reporters and he is acknowledged in a court of law as the unofficial spokesperson for the Sussex's.

I expect it will be a great gossipy read, so I can understand why people are excited to read it.

Whatshallabee · 29/06/2023 09:13

I used to listen to Omid’s podcast and I quite liked it. I’d rather listen to him than the poisoned fact twisting one.

Whatshallabee · 29/06/2023 09:13

Who is a Royal Reporter btw.

maranella · 29/06/2023 09:19

Is anybody really hanging onto every word that Omid Scobie says??? There are trashy books and exposés written by so-called experts with inside knowledge of the royal family all the time. I very much doubt they'll lose any sleep over this one.

And the books written about H&M are totally impartial?
Nah!

Whatshallabee · 29/06/2023 09:13

I think that's what all those who write / report on the Royals are called ..... Omid Scobie, Angela Levin, et al. Some write more gossipy stuff than others.

As an aside, I can't take Omid serious at all, no matter what he may have to say, I am always distracted by his appearance.

And some like Angela Levin retweet awful stuff about Meghan like she's never been pregnant, had surrogacy etc

MissTrip82 · 29/06/2023 09:26

Wouldn't have thought there was much left to spill.

The outrage over Meghan and Harry's children dealing with the consequences of parents who don't give a shit about airing their dirty laundry directly or through others made me laugh though.......for those who remember the 90s, you're literally describing Charles and Diana. We already know what happens to kids who witness that played out in international media. That's William and Harry.

Roussette · 29/06/2023 09:26

SeeingSpots · 29/06/2023 09:24

No. Got your point there!

I'm prepared to read before I judge though.

Roussette · 29/06/2023 09:28

This is a book about the Monarchy, see my para above outlining it

It's not about H&M however much you'd like it to be 😅

Trixibella · 29/06/2023 09:30

I wouldn’t read a book written by Angela Levin any more than I would read one by Scobie. His prose is excruciating. Hers is nonsensical. They’re the same, just on opposing sides.

Valentine Low’s book Courtiers was very good. Showed quite a bit of sympathy to the Sussexes when he wrote about them (not as much as you would think) but was measured.

themessygarden · 29/06/2023 09:32

"And some retweet awful stuff about Meghan like she's never been pregnant, had surrogacy etc"

I have only read that kind of crazy stuff repeated here on MN, , it's definitely not mainstream gossip. I don't know who writes that kind of crap and of course it gets perpetuated with people repeating it, whatever their motive for repeating it is.

It is the same thing with ridiculous rumours about all RF members, most of that stuff I only hear about when someone repeats it here on MN, whatever the motive, repeating it is giving credence to it.

Oh dear.

Maybe you should have a glance at my previous posts. You'll find I quite like both Meghan and Harry. I do think it's a little naive to think this gentleman is writing a book about the monarchy that hasn't been inspired by what's happened to the Sussexes.

I'm not sure paranoia is helpful here. Not everybody who occasionally posts something not directly sycophantic dislikes the Sussexes or subscribes to silly theories about them.
