Omid Scobie writing tell all book

CosmosQueen · 29/06/2023 07:23

The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexwarned that his next book will reveal moments that the Royal family should be “ashamed of”.
Omid Scobie claimed he was one of few journalists writing about the Royal family whose work was impartial and “spin-free”

As such, he said his forthcoming book, provocatively titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, would focus on the negative as much as the positive and would shine a light on “unsolved mysteries”
“Endgame not only looks at the successes of our Royal family but also the failures; the things to be proud of and those they should be ashamed of,” he wrote in the I newspaper

Just when will this end? I feel so sorry for their poor children who will have to live with the knowledge that their parents and his obnoxious individual were prepared to do anything to make money.

Angela Kelly. She’s got an axe to grind now that Charles has booted her out of her grave and favour house*

*I made this up.

Maybe he didn't want her in a grave and favour home, and so that's why he bought her a much nicer one?

Queen's dresser Angela Kelly 'gifted home near Sheffield by King Charles'

If Harry and Meghan had just buggered off to the quiet private life they professed to want

They never ever said that! This is such a good example of repeating a lie and it becoming the truth.

Almost as bad as those people who insist H and M were forced to flee abuse when the truth was that they didn’t get their own way !

crumpet · 29/06/2023 11:47

Well that’s rather the point isn’t it.A huge part of Harry’s anger and issues seems to be directed at the publicity surrounding his family, the fall out of his parents actions etc.

so why hasn’t he learned from that, to avoid the same happening to his children?

crumpet · 29/06/2023 11:48

Oops - that was to the PP who seemed to be of the view that as Charles and Diana had spoken out/ been involved with books, then why shouldn’t Harry

Almost as bad as those people who insist H and M were forced to flee abuse when the truth was that they didn’t get their own way !

But that's subjective. You can't quote something someone said if they never said it. They've stated their reasons for leaving, the press abuse is not debatable. You can still ignore their words and create your own version. But actually putting words in someones mouth is something altogether different.

They posted their plans on their website before speaking to HM or the then POW . Nowhere in their statement did they say they were flouncing off because they assumed that HM would agree . She didn’t and the rest - as they say is history .

I’d rather a book from someone who is not on either side ?

Someone like Lucy Worsley or Tom Holland as mentioned above. Tom is a republican so would take a hard hitting view.

I wouldn’t disagree with that, just saying that the commentary from serious journalists does seem quite one-sided at times.

They had to do this when I think it was DanWootton was going to break the story before they were ready

what? what has that got to do with what I wrote? They never said anywhere they were leaving to live in solitude or privacy!

I think, with the benefit of hindsight of course, that it would have been immeasurably better for them to have chosen a different course of action.

They say they suspected the story was going to break at an inconvenient time, and so they broke it at an inconvenient time. So from bad possibility to bad actuality.

They could, and I think should, have waited - it might not have broken at all, or if it did then they would have been on much stronger ground in making a statement in response, and with sadness about the intrusion. Advantage is that they could have nuanced it in terms of considering the best options for their future and then worked on the plan behind the Palace wall of "no comment" rather than being painted in to a corner from the off

feellikeanalien · 29/06/2023 12:40

The trouble is that, even if Meghan and Harry have absolutely nothing to do with this book, it will be assumed that they do because of Finding Freedom.

I would think they might be actually quite pissed off about the timing of this release.

If you read what I said I was agreeing that people rewrite history and used them “ fleeing” as an example . In other words H and M apparently never said they wanted privacy but equally they never said they were forced to leave because of the wicked press and RF !

Roussette · 29/06/2023 12:43

it might not have broken at all

When has Wootton ever held back?

Novella4 · 29/06/2023 12:48

@MrsLeonFarrell
“I'd be interested in a well researched, well written book about the institution of monarchy and how it has evolved to its present day form”

This is the book you need in that case :

‘And What Do You Do ‘

by Norman Baker

Oh yes. I've read it more than once

From an ex Minister and member of the Privy Council

For me, a total eye opener 👀

When has Wootton ever held back?

When indeed, but even if they thought it highly likely that he would break it, going for the certainty of it breaking at an inconvenient time (because you break it) is just as bad. And robs you of the options you might otherwise have had. Which, and again I stress, with the benefit of hindsight, would have been the better course.

Plus it would have been a step against "but the nasty press made me do it" loss of agency - they really could have chosen to deplore the intrusion if/when it happened and would have had considerable support in doing so. The level of public curiosity about their choices would have been much the same whichever, but a "get back in your box you little toerag and leave us and the Palace to sort out what works best for all of us" might have got them the time and space for proper consideration

Though of course, perhaps they did want it played out fairly publicly. But I don't think that worked out terribly well for them

IcedPurple · 29/06/2023 13:38

"Tell all" on what? He's a glorified gossip columnist who is now unofficial spokesman for two embittered exiled royals. It's not like he has any inside scoop on the senior royals.

Like other posters, I'd be interested in reading a serious analysis of the monarchy from an historian, constitutional expert or investigative journalist. From a former 'Heat' hack? Not so much.

user01082312345 · 29/06/2023 13:49

Isn't this the guy who didn't realise Scotland was part of the United Kingdom? He's a joke, no one takes him seriously.

Twobyfour · 29/06/2023 13:53

If Omid Djalili writes a book I’d like to read it as I think he’s very funny but a book by Omid Scobie - no thanks, I wouldn’t waste my time with it.

He also recently said that Harry was rushing back to celebrate Archie's 6th birthday. Archie is 4. He's just wrong about everything.

wordler · 29/06/2023 14:35

Yep - that’s my view too - I’m prepared to prejudge the quality of the writing without having read it because Finding Freedom was atrocious - like a teen girl’s secret diary.

I’ll wait to actually hear the ‘explosive’ content before judging that although I’d be very surprised if he knows anything new or actually true.

wordler · 29/06/2023 14:36

Sorry that comment was supposed to quote a previous poster who mentioned how bad Scobie’s writing is.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 29/06/2023 14:49

I think for a board that discusses, at some length, the ramblings of people like Morgan, Bower, Levin and various articles in media outlets owned by Murdoch, its quite funny that Omid Scobie is the one writer people won't read.

Novella4 · 29/06/2023 15:06

Yes it’s odd that is it it? Lol

Mackerson · 29/06/2023 15:12

Omid Scobie is 40! I thought he was in his early 20s. I wonder if it's genetic or he has a cosmetologist. I wish he'd give their name. I'd go see them.
