Harry and Meghan slammed by Spotify executive after podcast deal ends | The Independent

The old thread got closed, just as I was trying to quote tweet someone! So I've started this one, because this shitshow is still rumbling on

Its not about him being mentioned in general, but in relation to the book they co-wrote. Also, saying he plasters himself across the media when he is a journalist is rather strange. No other journalist gets your focus quite like he does.
But Meghan feeds this one, and that's OK 🤔
Not Meghan, their press secretary on their behalf provided information for a book being written about them as other royals have done. Again, no other royal reporter gets called a mouthpiece for any of them but him. Specifically for Meghan too.

You said how has Scobie plastered himself all over the media. I showed you. There's loads more, those are just some representative links from this year.

I see - a royal correspondent is plastering themselves all over the media by doing his job. Sure.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 29/06/2023 21:53

skullbabe · 29/06/2023 21:51

No.

The Daily Mail and the Daily Express posted pictures taken of them during the paparazzi chase first thing in the morning. H&M released a statement specifically saying that publishing pictures that were taken under those circumstances was in bad form. The focus shifted to the chase but very few people remember that on the back of the statement - those pictures were taken down by print media (Mail/Express). (they are still archived on the Wayback machine).

Its not that people don't remember, they will ignore what they don't want to see.

So why did you ask how he plasters himself all over the media?

Your question - I think it was yours? might be getting mixed up - was why the other author isn't mentioned. The answer - because they don't appear in the media, Scobie does. As a royal correspondent.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/06/2023 21:56

Dear god, Qbish; I almost never comment on personal appearance, but hadn't seen an image of Scobie prior to his surgery before - he was a perfectly decent looking guy, so what in hell's name has he done to himself??

I'd always wondered if the surgery was because of illness or injury, but if I've understood correctly you seem to be saying he's chosen to look like that? Confused

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Meghan passed information to a press secretary with the express intention of him passing it to Scobie. She had to admit this in court.

Maybe you're naive.

I thought your choice of language for a journalist doing their job was interesting. But you do you 👍🏽.

Qbish · 29/06/2023 22:01

I will do me, thanks everso.

The odd thing is that Meghan denied she had passed information via an aide to Scobie. But then had to admit it.

It's this kind of thing that has been damaging their credibility. And now he's publishing another book... I don't think it will be a good look for H&M, because he is now so connected to them.

Much of Finding Freedom was about the awesomeness of Meghan including extremely intimate details. It was more hagiography than journalism.

Milcar · 29/06/2023 22:05

That's the significant part, isn't it?

They provided information for his previous book, and lied about it. If it was just a case of their press secretary on their behalf provided information for a book being written about them as other royals have done then why lie?

And having done that, whatever he produces in future will be assumed to come from them. And any denials they put out will be suspect.

Yet again, their own worst enemies.

Qbish · 29/06/2023 22:08

It's the hypocrisy that really grates. Other members of the RF have relationships with the press - horrible horrible horrible! According to Harry. H&M do it - they lie about it.

I'm still trying to forget the purple prose about a perfect warrior pose struck in her yoga garden, while being serenaded by birds who looked as if they'd had their tails dipped in paint pots Shock

Still, it makes a difference from singing seals I guess ...

Yes agreed, and with @Milcar .

Scobie can probably see his future with them receding, as he become less useful to them because people are tired of the whinging. He's probably got this one last book with them, and then he's on his own.

Also why would Harry have been so keen for them not to be seen as having anything to do with it?

Tigger1895 · 29/06/2023 22:16

Seriously, British people are struggling to pay bills and this is your concern? It’s almost like the American coverage of trump, stop reading tabloids

Milcar · 29/06/2023 22:19

I am concerned about the cost of living as well. One doesn't exclude the other.

The COL, I can do something about, in the way I vote, what I donate and what I do as a volunteer.

I fit in Harry and Meghan as entertainment as well

Gracewithoutend · 29/06/2023 22:22

Then how would the RF know there had been a chase if the DM had taken the photos down? It's just paps taking photos - which isn't going to surprise the royals. The breaking news that came out later on Wednesday was Harry's statement decribing it as a near fatal catastrophic car chase. No one had said or reported that before his announcement. So how could the RF have known?

If you've got so much to worry about, why are wasting your time reading this little old thread with about 10 people on it?
Go read the Economist or something. I hear the readership of that is very elite.

Milcar · 29/06/2023 22:25

Come, come @Gracewithoutend it was 'near catastrophic', not 'near fatal'. Accuracy is very important...😂

It's a good try - make a round up of the most extreme posts, and then use them to try and shut down discussions you don't like by trotting them out.

Challenge the extreme comments when they are posted.

Those posts occurred in one thread in the space of half a day. It was a frenzy of them. I read them and felt ill. To think women are capable of doing this after all we’ve learned about how it hurts not only the woman criticised, but also other women.

I would have been ashamed of myself if I’d contributed to that bile.

If my adult daughter or sons read it and saw I had been a contributor they would wonder if I had gone mad. My tween grandson and granddaughter would possibly have learned it’s maybe okay to talk about women like that - that this is supposed to be how women are treated and thought of.

It was extremely disappointing to see that women still think it’s okay to criticise another woman for her clothes, her hair, her skin, her body. All of it.

Its just Harry paranoia. Harry wanted to talk directly to Scobie himself to make his point of how they were suffering. But the great traitor Knauf advised him against so he had deniability. Harry agreed but asked Knauf to convey the dreadfulness of their plight on their behalf.

And what have posts by other posters, on another thread, got to do with this thread and these posters?

How does that invalidate what has been posted here?

Why not engage with what is posted here, and explain how the posts on this thread are wrong?

Milcar · 29/06/2023 22:40

I am sorry you felt ill. Maybe take a break from it? There is no reason for any of us to enage with MN, after all.

Milcar · 29/06/2023 22:41

engage not enage, of course
