It would also be a weird clash with all their other ethical messages surely? Consumerism at its greatest - accessible to only a tiny % of the world.

Well she needs to earn money somehow

The unspoken subtext here is that people don’t want them to be independently wealthy - they want them to fail and this will make Harry come crawling back in sack cloth and ashes. I think that WME negotiating good deals for Meghan is a good step and time will tell if they will pay off.

I agree, it qas even more obvious when they left. People just want to see them crash and burn so to speak. They should be destitute and dont't deserve to be rich. No job is good enough unless they were to become trash collectors earning minimum wage and then they would be moaning about how they are taking jobs from people who need it.

Nothing they do will ever be right.

Since talking about them is a while industry within itself, media, social media etc. I'd be wanting to making money off the back of people who can't stop talking about me. Might aswell live a fabulous life and screw what other people say 😆 who cares what they think, ill just make my millions and have the life I want.

She is mighty enthusiastic about the brand but she doesn't do it much justice so if they collaborated, it would need to be for a niche body diversity collection for people who have challenging body shapes and are shorter than their usual models and actors.

MamoruHisaishi · 18/06/2023 10:12

i could picture Meghan more as an ambassador for a popular make up brand, or skin cream, as she does have a lovely face. If she were to go with the fashion route I picture something more all American casual/beachy California vibe rather than French glam.

I don't know if Dior are willing to sign Meghan up, even if she is attractive and can be stylish at times. Like, does she have a big enough fan base or the star power to draw in customers willing to buy what she’s selling from Dior? I can understand why they would keep Johnny Depp, despite his controversies, he’s still a popular enough figure to his fans and has enough global appeal to attract customers. Then there’s Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, all uber a list movie stars, who are known for being elegant and glamorous. I don’t see Meghan having that sort of appeal, she seems more like the cute girl next door type, and she looks her best not in gowns but in casual wear. There’s also a few kpop celebrities that dior have hired, which seems like they’re trying to expand their market into something more global and more catered to the generation z or sooner crowd. I don’t see Meghan having that kind of popularity with that generation. I also wonder why Dior wouldn’t have sought her out when the Sussexes were at their height of popularity, if they truly wanted her that would have been the best time instead of now when they’re losing their multi million dollar deals and with all the negativity surrounding them.

Too much of a loose cannon also. The NYC stunt for example was widely criticised and annoyed a lot of prominent people. As a brand its a huge risk when she's not even overly popular, it'd be an odd choice but stranger things have happened. I'd never buy Dior anyway so doesn't bother me either way.

Yes like in her Tig era. Her style seemed much more her as well, she always looked glowing and effortlessly beautiful.

Freefall212 · 18/06/2023 10:14

Dior signs a number of global ambassadors every year. I think they sometimes have a product specific contract (like Depp and the Cologne or Mila Kunis and the bags) and others have more general modeling apparel contracts.

This year (2023) so far they have used 8 global ambassadors including Jimin, Robert Pattinson, Dilraba Dilmurat, Elizabeth Debicki, Jisoo, Anya Taylor-Joy, HAERIN, and Caleb McLaughlin.

I don't even recognize the names of half these people! It seems they usually have a few very famous names and then some other more niche people.

IcedPurple · 18/06/2023 10:05

I could see Dior 'dressing her' if she manages to get invited to red carpet events. However, that's not the same as them giving her a lucrative sponsorship contract similar to what Charlize Theron and other major stars have. She' just doesn't have that level of stardom.

You're delusional. She's one of the most recognisable people in the world, let alone being absolutely stunning. I don't even like her, but even I have eyes 😅

Tbf, Johnny Depp is a bit of a loose cannon these days so I don’t think Dior are necessarily averse to controversy. I think the main difference is that Johnny Depp is one of the last true movie stars, like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, who has international appeal and global fame. Whereas Meghan has yet to prove herself as a star on her own, as she only became truly famous through her marriage to Prince Harry and becoming a part of the royal family.

Miaow.

She's taller than Natalie Portman (who is 5'3) and nearly as tall as Jennifer Lawrence.

stillavid · 18/06/2023 10:22

Honestly, MM is an extremely attractive woman and I like her style especially her more casual looks.

But I do think it is best for everyone if they make money - they are far less dangerous to the RF that way.

They are A list actresses, stunningly good looking with huge fan bases among Dior clients. What do you think her appeal would be to Dior?

WeWereInParis · 18/06/2023 10:24

@Elior I'm not particularly a fan of Meghan, I just don't think it's reasonable to say that they won't want her because she's short with a "challenging" body.

Elior · 18/06/2023 10:24

However, If they think that she is worth fronting a niche campaign then at least she would finally wean herself off criticizing the royals for money.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/06/2023 10:27

It’s more likely a Dior campaign would request she didn’t criticise the royals anymore as plenty of business spoke come from the various royal families

Fashion is impossible for her, really as the standards are rigid. I am thinking that if there is truth to the rumour then it would probably be handbags.

Well, her appeal would be Duchess of Sussex!

Freefall212 · 18/06/2023 10:31

She absolutely has the name recognition to do Dior and she is a beautiful woman - although Dior doesn't even really care about model looks if you look at their range of global ambassadors. And they like controversy. See Depp or Angelababy.

pilates · 18/06/2023 10:31

Do they both need to work with all their money?
Or is it just to give them something to do and keep them out there?

So, still exploiting the titles awarded by an institution she hates??
I guess we will wait and see but my Final Answer is still "Handbags"

There is an old saying - any publicity is good publicity.

but there can come a point where the balance starts to tip, and where negative publicity means the reaction of folk is to turn away and actively works against the company. we recently saw companies end partnerships with Philip Schofield.

Oh another reason why I think Dior might be reluctant to hire her is because she also acts like a typical influencer you’d see on Instagram instead of a famous sought after celebrity. Beatrice Borromeo, who married into the Monaco royalty, was hired by Dior to be one of their ambassadors:

like, if this is what their standard is for hiring a royal ambassador, no wonder they’re not chasing after Meghan.

this woman is like the definition of Uber chic and ultra glamorous.

Dior does seem an odd choice for someone allegedly committed to equality and everything else. When someone is seemingly planning their entire career and 'fame' around this sort of thing of course they'll be held to a higher standard than others.
