I think fans on social media in general are crazy. I think it started with lady gaga and now many celebs have them. Taylor Swift etc. I do think sone celebs encourage it but if they were wiser they wouldn’t as fans can turn on you too.
look at the craziness over Jonny depp and amber heard both sides fan’s fighting each other.

John Lennon was shot by an upset super fan.
I presume they have always existed but social media gives them an outlet and more deeply entrenches/recruits individuals based on the algorithms.

It does make one wonder whether any regulation of the mainstream press (as Harry is fighting for) will achieve anything while online content continues as it is.

"And you noticeably are ignoring the point that surrounding yourself with black people for publicity shots is the worst form of tokenism - "look I can't be racist, I've met a black kid"."

Surrounding yourself with children from local Primary Schools in Central London who are near the event you've helped arrange a garden for is tokenism now?

This need to insert race into every criticism and complaint against a woman and family you don't actually know seems bizarre.

People who think the Palace PR team planted those children for a photo opportunity clearly know nothing about how diverse London is.

Kate won’t become Queen because Peg will divorce her first. Again, nothing to do with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They are winning at life in California.

Ah, there you are. I wonder where you all had gone. Figures you couldn’t stay away though. 🤣

Feefee10 · 28/05/2023 13:50

My daughter is mixed race , she would hate going to a flower show and she's not interested in meeting the royal family. Her reaction would be the same if it was Meghan. It's not a famous YouTuber so not not interested.

You opened a pointless thread just to start a fight over a complete non story about what a bunch of twitterers think? What a waste of time. If you really cared about Kate why don't you post about the lack of due diligence she/her staff do on her charities? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12132467/Kates-154-500-year-charity-boss-convicted-murder-stabbed-man-death-train.html

It says at the bottom of the article that he was appointed in full knowledge of his past. He served time in prison and was freed in 1985, presumably because he was deemed to have served his sentence. He was 16 at the time of the offence. So it looks like due diligence was down and he was thought suitable.

He was 16 and part of a gang . He's actually dedicated his whole life to preventing children joining gangs and is on the serious crime prevention task force in Scotland. He is rehabilitated and obviously feels remorse as his work is literally reliving what he did everyday.

This isn't a bad thing, how many charities have middle class ceos who really have no idea about the people the charity is benefiting. This man has lived experience .

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 28/05/2023 16:38

I'm not criticising the guy or the charity. The article made clear that Kate didn't know. She should have known, i think it should be basic due diligence on a charity she supports. All they do is play lip service to things.

queentim · 28/05/2023 16:40

And?

Is no one allowed to criticize Kate? Kate fans have been criticizing Meghan and coming up with deranged theories since Harry began dating her.

Neverknowinglyunderbold · 28/05/2023 17:16

Many people are saying Chelsea is diverse with primary schools that are predominantly black kids. Yet, watching The Chelsea Flower Show, 99.9% of the people I saw were white.

So blacks kids were just there to be paraded? Because the crowd at the Chelsea Flower Dhow sure didn’t look predominantly black.

Why? It certainly sounds like you are criticising his appointment. Why does the Princess and / or her staff need to do “due diligence”? He was employed by the charity. Why does anyone else need to check again? Would they have not employed him? Would he have had to meet the Princess with a face mask on like Hannibal Lecter?

Because the demographic of local Primary Schools is not the same as the demographic who choose to travel to a Flower Show? And I don't know what footage you were watching, but the clips I saw weren't 99.9% white, it was definitely majority white, but also majority older Middle aged/elderly.

This is getting unhinged now.

The state primary schools around Chelsea are diverse. There’s about 4 very local ones. Chelsea actually has quite a few council estates and lots of social housing believe it or not! I used to work for a social landlord many moons ago and sw5 , sw10 was my patch. We had tonnes of property in some of the nice streets.
The posh people that live in Chelsea are older rather than young families and in any case many privately educate their kids.
chelsea is right next to Earl’s Court, Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush, White City.
The people that go to Chelsea flower show come from all over the U.K. and actually the world. It’s good to see local kids there. Might inspire sone to become horticulturalists or garden designers.

JADS · 28/05/2023 17:53

The children have come from Islington and Brixton schools. They have been invited because of projects their schools are doing around horticulture. Surely that's a good thing? These kids don't deserve to be brought into this rubbish. I would be gutted if my ds had been invited to something like this, only for so called adults to be using his picture for a cheap, nasty meme.

Kensington Palace arrange for Kate to be surrounded by dark brown children and some with disabilities, while she wears a pink princess dress and grins maniacally. That’s got nothing to do with the Duchess of Sussex. That’s got to do with her out of touch PR team never getting it right. Pro Tip: Kate should only do sporty events because she’s not authentic enough for anything else.

^^ agreed black people that admire the royal family make me uneasy. They literally colonised your ancestors.

It was RHS who decided which schools would be invited, and the schools themselves who decided which of their pupils to invite.

I'm criticising the point of this thread obvs. 🙄There are other things to discuss yet the op chooses to start yet another pointless H&M bashing thread, only this time against people that support them, random strangers on twitter who she happens to disagree with on precious 'Catherine'.

What year are we? It’s only now that these kids, given the chance to be in a 99% white space, will be inspired to take up gardening?

You think that makes sense? Or are they more likely to think it’s not for people who look like them?

It is 2023 and the fact that The Chelsea Flower show lacks diversity to this extent is a shame. To gain brownie points, Chelsea are inviting these school children’s so that they MIGHT see and be inspired? That’s how it achieves meaningful diversity? No, this is just gimmick and PR. If they truly wanted to inspire these children, they would be doing more and without the need for cameras and princesses.

As for the parents potentially feeling hurt because the genuineness of this is called into question; do you suppose black parents are supposed to be excited and grateful for whatever crumbs are thrown at them, whether or not their dignity is being respected? These kids should just be ever so grateful that they were allowed in this white space and to give good publicity to a princess.

Fair enough but the thing that you highlighted is not something that the Princess can be criticised for, so you have rather undermined your own point 🤷‍♀️ And it does come across like you are criticising the charity in your original post which was my point. And so not “obvs” 🙄

She’s not the CEO, she’s the Patron. Big difference.

And, in any event, no CEO of an organisation of any size is needs to know the background of every staff member employed there. They are responsible for the organisation having appropriate systems to check people’s backgrounds when they are hired, but that’s it. At an individual level the responsibility of carrying the checks out is delegated. And that happened in this case - his background was identified and accepted.

Er people from all over the country visit the Chelsea flower show. It's a famous event. Last time I looked there weren't many middle aged people in the local primary school. The video I saw had a mix of black and white children. If the photos were chosen and had purely black children in them, it was deliberate.

polkadotdalmation · 28/05/2023 21:47

It seems not only the twitter haters are happy to have a go, but Disney makes a nasty reference to her in the little mermaid, and meghans friend somebody Chopra (?) in a program she's made says something about getting in between the princess of Wales's legs. I mean wtaf!

How is it pointless? I think this is relevant especially since kids, some of whom are disabled, are being used on social media to attack Catherine by Meghan’s fans. Do you go and criticize the other threads questioning why theres so much ‘hate’ towards the Sussexes? Do you raise an outcry when articles, including from the guardian or New York times, are written about the bullying that Meghan has endured in social media? Why shouldn't something like this bullying towards another woman also be highlighted, especially if the bullying is done by famous or well known personalities? You seem to be another one who's angry because some of the more toxic Sussex fans are now being exposed and called out, as they should be. If it bothers you so much, perhaps you should let them know not to bully a woman just because she's doing her job.
