What is it about H&M and/or the royals, that gets people so angry and worked up?

People being pretty hostile to each other on the royal threads these days?

There seem to be quite fierce emotions in defence of H&M and also attacking them.

What's it all about do you think? Why all the hostility on these boards on either side?

(Obviously loads of people not being hostile. I fully acknowledge that! Just wondering why some posters have so much emotion for or against, and why the hostility to those with differing opinions. What is being ignited or triggered in people?)

I think if the monarchy was to fall tomorrow, they'd still all remain celebrities for a long time including H&M. There are still members of deposed Royal families who are still well known.

The thing is, I don't really see Harry and Meghan as 'royals' anymore

I actually suspect a lot of people now see them as ersatz royals, a bit like that American-Greek model 'Princess' Olympia or that German Princess Xenia who appeared in celebrity dating shows...

As time passes, their 'minor celeb' status will completely overtake the royal.

YouHaveAWeirdHangupAboutPercentage · 24/05/2023 12:29

I still see Prince Harry as royal because I've always known him as one. I don't see Meghan as royal (I know she is) because I didn't see her from that angle for a long time. She didn't spend enough time being one in the typical sense of living with them for me to fully associate royalty with her.

Again for those who will want to say jealousy or hate, I still know she's royal because she's married to Harry and now a member of the royal family. I just associate her more with celeb and Hollywood than Buckingham Palace.

@mixedrecycling Definitely a kerfuffle! MNHQ were deleting their comments quicker than I could report them!!!

tommyshelbysbunnit · 24/05/2023 14:54

What actually is their end game? They have left the royal family, fair enough, I don't think I would like to be a member either. They have a home, children, they look to be in love, so what actually is it they want?

jeffgoldblum · 24/05/2023 15:02

Money and in Harry's case revenge.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 24/05/2023 15:12

They didn't want to leave the RF entirely though, they wanted to pick and choose RF duties at the same time as having a celebrity life in America but the Queen said no. I got the impression they were interested in a commonwealth position.

I used to find them quite irritating but not so much anymore.

It does irritate me that Meghan is trying to emulate the Queen by talking about service, e.g. saying that a crew member said to her 'thank you for your service' etc.

That word is being seriously overused, even when Charles says it now I feel irritated!

Ooooh aren't I grumpy 😄

MayQueeen · 24/05/2023 16:38

Lots of valid points. Especially the very bonkers justification of being their advocate because the poster is a staunch republican 😂 ignoring the fact harry and Meghan are titled, and very much part of the royal family. And they’re also after all the titles, perks, tax payer funded security etc. Ultimately it’s a family fall-out, they’ll make up eventually I’m sure. Happens a lot, in most families. In time I’m sure they’ll learn to be amicable at least. And when alls said and done, Harry and Megan would side with their family over any anonymous internet-addicted stalker - sorry I mean Sussex squad fanboys/girls.

A whole human being has been killed. Helen Holland was 81 killed because the Duchess of Edinburgh was on an unofficial trip. Yet, she's being hailed as brave for showing her face. Not on thread on Mumsnet Royal Family board. The media has conditioned their readers well.

That was really horrible.

It's still at investigation stage at present, no-one is ignoring it. Don't think Sophie can stop all engagements however.

you may think you sound ever so self righteous and superior, but actually it’s coming across as snide and smug. You’re right here with us, gossiping on an online celeb royal forum too x

That’s very sad

however, it wasn’t Sophie’s fault.

TrashyPanda · 24/05/2023 18:10

And she died because there was a collision with a police motorbike.

nobody knows the circumstances

dont try to stir up trouble using this poor lady

That's not true. She was the fourth person to be killed because the council failed to act on complaints. She stepped out on a blind corner and couldn't see what was coming. People can't stop working because of what might happen. I'm sure the policeman feels beyond awful.

Do you feel righteous and superior calling people obsessed stalkers or Sussex fanboys and girls when people because they disagree with your views on H&M?
