Security for Harry and Meghan not a priority

Article in the DM reporting that Rishi Sunak has apparently said Harry and Meghan's security issues in New York are not a priority for him when he was asked about the car chase. He is concentrating on policing and safety of people in this country.

A strong modern independent feminist wouldn't continue to use her title gained only by your husbands status (& get it embroidered on her custom Dior handbag)

Is that true about the handbag? Good grief!

See here - she has a Lady Dior handbag with the monogram DSSOS - presumed for DUcheSS Of Sussex

Meghan Markle's Dior Purse Had Two Hidden Messages

The handbag was a tribute to Princess Diana.

@Serenster I interpreted it as Diana Spencer Save Our Souls!

I was looking at Celebitchy last night. I had to laugh. They're really annoyed that the world generally seems to doubt H&Ms story and that Backgrid were disgusting in not handing the photos over. They thought their statement was disgraceful. However they reckon Big Red (😂😂) has great attorneys so Backgrid will be humiliated and have to hand the photos over eventually. Oh and Backgrid now will fold because no media outlets or publicists will want to be associated with them.

They also believe that it's ridiculous to think H&M could have arranged for all those paps to follow in cars. (I agree.) But there are others that could. And that the British govt was involved in it because he has a court case against them. (That our govt could organise even 4 cars is funny enough alone. 😆 )

And that Kate had arranged the visit where she was wearing the green dress, (which they all obviously hated) either (and there was disagreement here) because she'd planned in advance to deliberately try to take attention away from Meghans award (I didnt know anything about the award til after the pap incident so was it well publicised in advance?); or organised it after the event to exploit Meghans discomfort. Either way, Kate had deliberately choreographed her arrival in such a way so that she was filmed getting out of the car (to mock Meghan because she had been trapped in hers - I kid you not); walking round the car to emphasise how the paps are under control in this country which Meghan, again, would find hurtful (?) and to demonstrate how free and safe she is in the UK; and smiling extra hard because she was laughing at Meghan.

I used to enjoy Celebitchy a few years ago but stopped reading when it became so royalty dominated. It was a bit samey and boring. However, it's gone to a level of crazy over Kate that I don't even recognise. It's beyond the UK articles that were written about Meghan - and I think she used to receive some rough treatment. Fortunately, their vitriol against Charles, Camilla, W & K is so extreme is actually quite funny.

@Haywirecity
This is a very entertaining account! I nominate you to start a new thread for regular updates on Celebitchy's latest wacky conspiracy theories - just to keep those of us with weaker stomachs in the loop 😄

I found that strange, they were getting their flights, accommodation, food paid for and aside from their purported £2mill annual allowance couldn't understand why there might be a wave 👋 fee.

I have never seen MM as a feminist but don't think she was equipped for the scrutiny of RF nor that some of the work involved was mundane. Or the hierarchy.

Hierarchy, yes that too. Status & hierarchy in other cultures/countries somehow count for more, altho’ the UK obvs has a reasonably entrenched class system. Did she miscalculate the ‘pecking order’?

She has incredible attention to detail & ‘method acted’ role, almost…

She’s clearly observed Diana too & given her fashion choices a modern twist. A sort of Carolyn Besette Kennedy edge & class to an 80s fashion icon.

Just as she’s been ruthlessly ambitious re: actress job she’s adopted a similar mindset with her next love interest. Right back to drawing board, literally I suspect, including using the Rules on first date ‘always leave them wanting more’ & cutting date short.

There’s lots to admire here & she’s a brilliant speaker I think, bringing a warmth & confidence to causes as spokesperson & talking head, she could wield a lot of power to good causes. She’s a masterclass in elegance, easy charm & debate/articulation.

She wants to be a icon & a feminist - can you be both?

Prob is the flipside of all that is ‘Single White Female’ writ large - there’s potentially a darker side. Also it takes a lot of cash.

polkadotdalmation · 21/05/2023 19:49

Yes, she does have a good speaking style. Problem is it's just a jumble of meaningless words, cliches and repeats of her previous speeches or copies of other people speeches. There nothing new or original.

Re the handbag. She's using it with a similar white dress to Diana, so channelling her inner Diana no doubt. Shame she looked like a tampon. 😂😂😂😂. Sorry, it's my one and only bitchy comment about Meghan but it's bloody hilarious! I do apologise, it's proper mean girl stuff but so funny.

it would be interesting to be present at an event where she speaks. She’s been criticised re: ‘world salad’ but I feel this is overblown.

She has star power & charisma in spades some do. The few that do, esp with unusually good looks, often cultivate unimaginable, extraordinary lives for themselves, IME.

polkadotdalmation · 21/05/2023 20:07

@Peverellshire If she had 'star power' she would have been famous long before she married Harry. She spoke at a small UN conference and it didn't get headlines. Very much a side show. Her extraordinary life is simply because of who she married. Age 36 she was barely known. If you are an amazing talented actress/speaker/humanitarian, you are known well before 36. Look at Emma Watson for an inspirational person with all those attributes. It's not Meghan Markle I'm afraid. Her speaking style is indeed, nothing more than a gushing word salad. You do realise she uses the same phrases over and over again?

Interesting. No, only heard a couple of speeches, really? She has stock phrases?

She def has charisma & getting role on Suits, very tough. The competition v intense.

She cultivates ‘friends in high places’ & has an easy charm.

polkadotdalmation · 21/05/2023 20:14

@Peverellshire It's called 'superficial charm'. Easily turned on and off as evidenced by all the ghosting she does. I agree she can appear very charming, but if you've ever seen that video where Doria starts speaking to someone and meghans mask slips because she doesn't like it, you really start to wonder.

If so, time will tell, ‘you can fool all of the people some of time’… would the smart & powerful be so easily (?) taken in…

polkadotdalmation · 21/05/2023 20:20

@Peverellshire I think she had everybody fooled for a while, but the fall in the couple's popularity means fewer people falling for it. It's a shame. I really wish she'd been the person she portrayed herself to be. I'm sure Harry would have been happier and they could still have had a good life doing great things in the states.

If so & she has self awareness, there’s still hope (?) Go a bit quiet & focus on causes that matter most & genuinely chime with you (?) Take a step back.

I think she just needs a better speech writer, sometimes less is more

Would be interesting to have context, what was Mum saying I wonder? In isolation poss no biggie, we all get irritated sometimes. It’s sort of ‘I told you NOT to say that’ look?

polkadotdalmation · 22/05/2023 08:57

@Peverellshire But that's her mother not some random employee. I would treat my mother better. That was a real flash of anger. I don't think it was what was said but the fact Doria picked up the conversation and progressed it and M didn't like that. It was meeting a group of charity workers or something quite innocuous Not much you can say that would upset anyone. That's the context. Meghan also pulls harry away from talking to people. I think she just likes to be the one controlling the situation so it's all on her terms. Another reason royal life wasn't for her. Quite reasonable as it's not for everyone

OMG, there's a couple of little sayings my Mum trots out that make me grind my teeth 😂

To me it looks more like she was about to speak herself when her mother spoke and that’s what pissed her off.

Yes, looking again, I suspect you’re right. Question is habitual type behaviour or unfortunate ‘one off’ caught on camera?

PicturesOfDogs · 22/05/2023 23:36

I’ve seen the clip of them speaking, but I can’t find it now. Doria was just asking a question from what I recall.

Look in the post before yours and open the history. BMW6 has posted the clip.
