Whether you are a fan of the RF or not, does the coverage have to be quite so cringeworthy in tone? Is it worse than usual or am I just jaded? Just listening to some CoE rep on the news and the reverential toadying tone made me turn over. Can’t anyone report on what’s happening without being quite such kiss arses?

I've just heard one of his announcements while going through St Pancras. If I hadn't known about it from the news and DH hadn't nudged me I wouldn't have clocked it at all. Certainly didn't get any reaction from my fellow travellers. If you're neutral on the monarchy it's a bit of trivial harmless fun - if you're a diehard royalists you'll adore it - if you're a strong republican you'll disapprove. That's inevitable.

But why will you find it 'a bit much' if the only reason you've heard it is because you sought it out. You wouldn't have heard it if you hadn't, because you won't be travelling on the tube.

medianewbie I assume there will be something on YouTube at some point. If I ever feel the need I might look there from a historical point of view. I might also look at a video of highlights from the queen's funeral if I think of it as we were busy that day.

Fwiw, in the threads I've dipped into over the last few weeks I have seen far far more insults aimed at republicans than at the royalists.
