Exactly what do you know about whose homes she visits, who she hangs out with, who in "Hollywood" she invites into their home? Who are these "people with decency" that are "dropping away from them"?

Did you, for instance, know that this WME signing was in the works? What else do you know about that she has signed up to do, and with whom?

There is a huge difference between what you wish and hope and desire will happen to her (failure, rejection, humiliation) and what is actually going on in her life, which only she, her husband, friends, advisors and business partners know about.

Unless she chooses to tell you about it. As she has done with the WME signing😜

I think they need to keep a tab on her to make sure she is monitored not to make further mistakes. How dare she have a life like a person. Our monarchy is the only thing in the world.

@MrsMaxDeWinter goodness you really attack anyone who dares have a different opinion to you, very combative to the nth degree - you should perhaps call yourself Mrs Danvers rather than MrsMaxDeWinter ... it's a shame the book wasn't called Rachel!

I am happy with my name thanks @custardbear

And I will always challenge opinions rooted in wishful malice and sneering spite as vigorously as they are shared. You know nothing about what this woman is doing in her life.

A bit of trivia for you: Daphne du Maurier went on to write My Cousin Rachel, more than ten years after Rebecca. You should read it, it is really good. And it may be a better way to pass the time than stewing malevolently over what Meghan is doing with her life.

I wish she had gone straight to this. I’d have lot more respect for her if she had gone straight into working and not made a quick and dirty fortune by selling her husband’s family.

Agree with this.

Sudeko · 28/04/2023 14:01

The monarchy is rottem to the core. She is also a bad apple. The game of exploitation is fair game to some extent. They sought to benefit from injecting some diversity, she made a different tactical move and rejected their rulebook. They are all shady characters tearing strips out of each other.

Isn't WME the agency that had a big racism and homophones scandal a few years ago?

Great autocorrect! “Homophones” 😂

michaelmacrae · 28/04/2023 14:06

I think this is good news for Meghan, now she will be able to move on from the royals and create content about all sorts of stuff, unrelated to them. She's making her own money, isn't that what people wanted? Yet they still continue to moan..

As for Harry, he will benefit too, but he has the court cases to get through first. Don't know what his plans are but if she's building a media empire I'm sure he will be part of it (and reap the benefits too.)

AskMeMore · 28/04/2023 14:07

@LadyVictoriaSponge You really dislike Meghan and criticise everything she does. Please don't pretend that one action would have made you respect her.

@AskMeMore

Trust me, if Charles removed the titles, they will be demanding the "removal" of Harry, because, apparently, she is nothing without him.

And even if she and Harry divorced tomorrow, everything she does in her life will come back to:

But she used to have a royal title!

She used to have a royal husband!

There is no winning with people whose views are driven by spite and malice, so she may as well live as she wants. Life is too short.

polkadotdalmation · 28/04/2023 14:16

@michaelmacrae the only money she's made since marrying harry has been off the backs of her royal connections so I'm glad you accept that. I agree she now needs to prove that she is the wonderful star she thinks she is.

polkadotdalmation · 28/04/2023 14:17

@LadyVictoriaSponge I was so tempted to say exactly that for you 😂

KnickerlessParsons · 28/04/2023 14:18

Someone in that relationship is going to have to make the money once all the RF stuff has dried out, and Haz doesn't have a lot of skills he can monetise, other than just being Haz

KnickerlessParsons · 28/04/2023 14:18

*dried up

It’s amazing isn’t it that supporters can read minds across the globe! their superhuman powers have no bounds!

MrsMaxDeWinter · 28/04/2023 13:10

The Duchess ofSussex has signed up with WME, you say.

Surely not.

Isn't the Mumsnet consensus that all doors in Hollywood have been shut on her?

Tom Bowel promised that his book would finish her 😂😂

MrsMaxDeWinter · 28/04/2023 14:26

Too funny @michaelmacrae

Duchy Originals makes money off the back of "royal connections."

Royal wealth is accumulated and protected by the monarch being exempt from inheritance tax.

Isn't there a series of royal warrants granted to businesses that allow them to flog all sorts of tat, from marmalade to gin? By appointment to His Majesty the king etc etc?

And I could have sworn that one of the justifications for the monarchy is all the lovely tourist dollars royal connections supposedly bring in.

But I guess it's only a problem if Meghan is making money from royal connections, not others.

I wonder why that is!

Nope, you conveniently forget about her Spotify podcasts. They were hers, on the subject of women, nothing to do with the royals at all. All she did was the netflix doc and Oprah, and she was completely entitled to put her view across of her experience. She's got that out of her system now and moved past tiny little britain and onto bigger things, and I say good for her.

polkadotdalmation · 28/04/2023 14:30

@michaelmacrae If she hadn't married harry the offer from Spotify would never have been made. Surely you're not naive enough to believe otherwise?

Abacusporttaco · 28/04/2023 14:32

I mean, it’s the agency. There’s no way it’s on her acting, comic or voiceover ability. And I actually don’t mind her.

TheSnowyOwl · 28/04/2023 14:33

She has signed and that’s given the agency loads of free publicity. However, it’s not yet given her any money or work. Be interesting to see what happens longer term.

daretodenim · 28/04/2023 14:33

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to insinuate. But for someone who was barely in the RF and has publicly spoken at length about how awful it was, to then focus on monetising your connection with looks hypocritical. It's definitely not the same as Duchy Originals or even the Tindalls advertising watches or milk in China (or whatever).

If she hadn't accused the RF insinuated the RF is racist and the rest, had moved to the US and got on with her career, she'd have a TONNE more support. It's her (and Harry's) behaviour that turns a lot of people off them, not anything else that you seem to be nodding to.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 28/04/2023 14:37

MoChridhe · 28/04/2023 14:23

Tom Bowel promised that his book would finish her 😂😂

"It's Meghan I'm after!"

Tom Bower had Mumsnet all aflutter, 5 000 posts and more, over 5 threads.

And she's still standing.

An Australian TV channel is now trotting out the Markles in what is being billed as "their last interview ever".🙄

Something tells me she'll still be standing after that.

It will be amusing to see the confusion among the M-Bashers. On the one hand, they want Meghan badly bashed, as bashed as she can be, and they like to big up the white Markles while spreading speculative untruths about Meghan's black mother. On the other, this poorly timed interview can only lead to more headlines about Meghan being generated just before the Coronation.

Then again, I've worked out that M-Bashers don't care that much about the Coronation. If they did, they would be filling up thread after thread with Coronation talk (The quiche! All the pretty horses! The history! The Stone of Scone! The King! The Queen! The quiche!) instead of indefatigably zipping from thread to thread for a bit of good old M-Bashing 😁

I think you're a bit confused about Royal Warrants

MrsMaxDeWinter · 28/04/2023 14:41

@michaelmacrae

Right on cue.

I can definitely read the minds of posters.😑

"If she hadn't married Harry ..."

This will be the response to everything she does, whether or not it is connected to the Royal family. So she may as well do what suits her.

michaelmacrae · 28/04/2023 14:41

polkadotdalmation · 28/04/2023 14:30

@michaelmacrae If she hadn't married harry the offer from Spotify would never have been made. Surely you're not naive enough to believe otherwise?

You do realise anyone can come up with a podcast and put it on Spotify, don't you? She did all sorts of things before she met Harry - blog, adverts, TV parts, charity, fashion design, etc etc - it's realistic to assume she could have, and probably would have, done it anyway (albeit with less attention).
