Why was his book called “Spare” then? Why not “Press” if that was the main beef? (Although I don’t think for a second he came up with such a catchy title.)

Nightlystroll · 04/05/2023 17:17

I think it was called "spare" because that means being angry. An angry man without purpose. He's got purpose now so he just needs to work on his anger.

AskMeMore · 04/05/2023 17:47

@Nightlystroll A nice stretch that. He explains why he called it Spare, you do not have to make things up.
Heir and spare.

And for the record, it is Charles who has the anger problem.

LadyMuckingabout · 04/05/2023 17:51

@AskMeMore I think it was a joke….

There are many pictures and film (eg jubilee barge) of Harry looking very angry. There’s also some of Kate and William trying to soothe him at an occasion. He’s red in the face and glowering.

I know why he called it spare. I just think it's an extra play on the meaning of the word. 😄

I think he should have made that the main focus of his book and titled it accordingly. It ended up sounding petty and competitive. He would have retained more credibility if he had just stuck to how he felt about his treatment by the press and how he felt about how they treated his mother. All that todger nonsense and shagging in a field. It never helped his cause even if it generated short-term clickbait.

He was born as the Spare as William was born to the heir. Charlotte and Louis are now Spares. If the ever write a book. They can use the title as well.

Have you read the book? It's not all negative. There is a lot of of positive. He talks about his serious ex girlfriends with fondness. He loves his work with Invictus and his fellow soldiers. But of course MEghan and his children get the love in the book.

A lot of autobigraphies will mention losing their virginity (Frank McCourt was slightly more detailed). He didn't mention who with and it's a sentence. The frozen todger was a result of frostbite. If you're telling your life story and you'd had an injury, why would you not talk about.. It happened to him and he chose to talk about it but again it's a few sentences.

So his children don't give him a purpose. When I had small children, they were my purpose.

Thank you, @LadyMuckingabout . Yes, I was just joking.

Really? I've not seen that.

All of the Royals have moments they are snapped not smiling.

Maybe he was but unless you were listening, you don't actually know what happened.

It serves a purpose as it's immediately recognisable.

Oh. Then maybe that is his sole purpose. I guess it would explain why he doesn't do much.

Yes fighting a court battle at the moment. So that keeps him busy But the kids are his sole purpose, that's fine isnt it?

The Queen didn't smile all the time for sure. When she did smile, it seemed very genuine.

AskMeMore · 04/05/2023 18:10

William always looks a bit pissed off and Kate always looks like she is guffawing with laughter. Do you really think they are like this all the time as well?

AskMeMore · 04/05/2023 18:11

And it is Charles who has the anger problem.

Ooo yes. Writing those witness statements must have really eaten up his time.

He went through years of suffering panic attacks but having to stay during official occasions. My son looks red and angry when he’s in the middle of a panic attack. (Flight or fight response - he’s not going to fight anyone of course, it just looks that way). No doubt Harry has had his angry moments though, but so had William and Charles (Charles at an age when he really should be able to control it better.).

Well then he might just be spending time at home with his kids. Good for him
